Avatar m tn I know that nothing is guaranteed, but from what others have told me about the standard treatment (Interf/Riba.) it seems like this treatment would be a living nightmare. What about the new study out of Mass. Univ. (2/08) that suggests grapefruit (narengin extract) may help to cure this disease? Does Milk Thistle help to reduce the symptoms? I have developed Angiomas on my lower leg, and I have bad headaches. Are these symptoms of the disease, and has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar f tn There are numerous medications out there and many types of treatment that you can pursue. For many of us anxiety disorder is a significant disability that impairs or lives in many ways. We have to live with side effects and inconveniences as does every other disabled person, like it or not.
973741 tn?1342342773 There are, but know that alternative medicine is harder to do and works more slowly than taking a medication, assuming it works at all, which, like all other treatments for anxiety, may not work at all. The first thing to do is buy a book called Natural Highs by Hyla Cass. It's an old book, and it's not written by a professional herbalist or the like, it's written by a psychiatrist who taught and might still teach at UCLA and uses natural medicine in her practice.
757137 tn?1347196453 What can I say? Here I am with much improved eyesight. I have gotten to the stage where I can read, with difficulty, normal type without glasses. I can't even remember when I was last able to do that. There are not many trials, and certainly not large ones, for alternative medicine remedies (and I consider "alternative" a misnomer). As you and I know it is because there is no money to fund them. So people do as I do. We try them out if they seem reasonable. I hit it lucky.
Avatar f tn However, there remains a shortage of literature exploring the relationship between the alleviation of anxiety and the use of acupuncture, In this study, the S-Anxiety scale (STAI Form Y-1) of the State- Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was administered to 89 patients, before and immediately following one acupuncture treatment. The S-Anxiety scale comprises twenty statements assessing the subject's feelings at that moment.
1037594 tn?1258562179 ll find a common reaction to mj for anxiety sufferers is increased anxiety, and it can bring out anxiety in those prone to it. But if it works for you, it's certainly safer and better researched than most pharmaceuticals. Which isn't saying much.
Avatar f tn Hi I think that natrural remedies are the best way to go. I suffer from anxiety and have taken alternative meds in the past which have helped me. It took a while for them to start working but they worked and I felt great. The only side effect of natural remedies is that you dont put any chemicals in your body! lol. The meds I took were from my alternative med doctor, not from a vitamin store.
Avatar f tn ve had a problem it takes a month of natural treatment to fix it. But since everyone is different, some people get better with one treatment and others never get better from a particular treatment. I'd say, don't have specific expectations, just give it a good shot and hope for the best. Meaning, what others have experienced won't really have much meaning for you individually.
Avatar f tn I contracted hep c from blood transfusion in 1976 when I had my daughter. I was not aware until receiving a letter from the red cross. I went at that to my regular Dr who said it was probably a false positive and thought it would be a waste of money and time to run the test. I let it go until 2000 when my fatigue level was so high. We had moved so went to a different doctor.
Avatar f tn Well, it turn out I am now on Betta blocker 10g 3 times a day to get my heart rate down. Cholesterol ,thyroid and anxiety tablets I was told to take this for three months and then to leave it to see what happens. Well it just got worse after I left the tablets. Even the betta block sometimes does not help to get my heart rate down. Now they want to give me iodine radiation to kill off the thyroid on Wednesday.
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome! I'm definitely much more versed in Rx meds, but I know from being a part of this site for a long time that many people have had success using herbal remedies to help with their anxiety. I'm sure someone will come along and offer some ideas for you. A question I would ask you is...is the Xanax working for you, and if so, why do you want to stop taking it in exchange for a non Rx med? Sometimes, the saying...
Avatar m tn So she decided to change the doctor and the kind of medical treatment. About two months she didn’t have any treatment, because she was put under different examinations in order to find another treatment. About 10 days ago it was found out, that she has two metastases in the brain. A surgery is now also impossible. So she is making now radiotherapy to the brain metastasis. But at all she lost a lot of weight and doesn’t have appetite. She is also breathing very hard and coughing a lot.
Avatar m tn I've recently been diagnosed with Graves. Unfortunately I don't have insurance and can't afford it. I'm stuck with a doctor whom I don't feel has my best interest at heart. My last visit with my PA (who pointed out concerns that prompted testing) I was told my levels were low, the same day, saw my endo doc and she tells me (from same lab results, that my levels were normal) and immediately suggested removal as soon as possible.
1132574 tn?1271672466 Hello Everyone- Just wondering if any of you out there have tried or read about employing accupuncture and/or other alternative therapies while in treatment for lyme disease. I've also considered chiropractic care. All of this would obviously be in concert with antibiotic use. I would never rely soley on alternative methods to fight this crazy disease. Just wondering what you all think/have experienced/have read.
Avatar m tn Dr. Zhang, I presume. Taking an educated approach to hepatitis is important. You will not find a claim by Dr. Zhang that his treatments will 'cure' hepatitis c but that ' proper treatment, lifestyle, diet, abstinence from alcohol and stress management are key factors in mitigating disease progression' Some people who frequent this forum have studied more about his approaches and a couple have followed the regimen. Perhaps they will comment..
1722607 tn?1335747858 When first diagnosed, I was determined to find an alternative treatment to interferon. Eventually, this led me to an herbalist who is also an MD. She said, "no herbal treatment is known to get rid of hep C." Then she said, herbs and supplements could help me with both the symptoms of hep C/liver disease and the side effects of interferon treatment.
Avatar f tn anyway, went on the healthy heppers website and found where hundreds of people have cleared the virus from their system using Lloyd wrights alternative treatment program and recommendations. am just starting it and wondering if anyone has had success with this? taking lots of chinese herbs, gladular extracts and other supplements. I am lucky cuz my dad is paying for it. have horrible insomnia though, was also diagnosed bi polar and waiting to get on meds for that.
Avatar f tn I'm a traditionalist when it comes to treatment for depression and anxiety. I have seen great results. But it's so individual. And that factor makes things difficult to say what affect someone will have. There are SNRI's if SSRI's aren't working well for you. I personally find many holistic medicine and alternative medicine doctors to be full of hope based on nothing. Talk about not having science to back up your practice!
