Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety relief music

3197167 tn?1348972206 Music is one of the few activities that involves using the whole brain. It is intrinsic to all cultures and can have surprising benefits not only for learning language, improving memory and focusing attention, but also for physical coordination and development. Of course, music can be distracting if it's too loud or too jarring, or if it competes for our attention with what we're trying to do.

Between a creep video taping my daughter (who's 2) while at my in laws and my fil telling me I'm blowing things out of proportion, my husband reverting to whatever his dad says is law, and being the mean evil board member Sharing with 50 members their dues are increasing 3Xs what they're used to.....I'm sick and cramping. Avatar m tn Hi, I have been feeling a surge of anxiety/panic for the last few days. It is so bad that I shake almost constantly, can't sleep, and feel extremely cold. I virtually have no appetite. Also, I constantly feel like throwing up, I gag, but so far have not actually vomited. This type of episode happened about a month ago, but I thought it might have been a reaction to anti-biotics I was taking at the time.
398624 tn?1266273049 Can symptoms of anxiety last 24/7? The only relief I get is taking 1 xanax a day, but as soon as the xanax starts to wear off, I feel the symptoms come right back. Can anxiety get that bad?
Avatar m tn I first experienced hearing music, actually a song I heard on the radio 16 years ago and it was related to stress and anxiety. Whenever I heard music while trying to sleep it was usually a hyper arousal reaction because I have had sleep based anxiety for years and usually require something such as klonopin to help me sleep.
Avatar m tn I'm taking Vistaril and it has calmed me down a lot with my anxiety and the music in my head. After I get my results I will post them here . I wish everyone the best!!
Avatar f tn I stayed up for 7 days straight and it was the worst. RLS, nausea, headache, joint pain, fatigue and anxiety are all going to be present. some OTC drugs witll help but do not take too much! You can OD on Acetominiphen if you take too much. Also some OTC mixing will make your headache or RLS worse. Hot baths and fruit smoothies are a godsend. You will not want to eat - your sense of taste will be hightened and will bother you. But you need vitamin replenishment.
Avatar f tn My obsessions have stopped me from being able to listen to their music a lot of the time, or when I am with headphones especially it can get very hard, as I have to complete my ritual in my head before I can turn the music off, so all the while this music is playing I'm having a nervous breakdown with such a tense, anxious mind, just waiting for the relief when it feels right in my ritual so I can close down the song... half way through.
Avatar m tn -one night I had a short but definite music hallucination while going to sleep. Like someone had one of those little colorful painos that kids play with and hit with the stick. The same night I had a flash of light in my vision when all the lights in my room were off.  Sweating: 5 months ago I began to develop a profuse sweating problem seemingly out of the blue. I would drip sweat from under my arms. I remeb changing shirts 4-5 time a day.
Avatar f tn The good news is, there are a lot of treatments out there for anxiety...relief comes, it just takes time, work and patience on our part. There really isn't a "magical cure" per se, but learning how to cope is possible with therapy, and there are a lot of different meds that have helped countless people control their symptoms. You're stuck in the anxiety cycle, where your anxiety triggers scary thoughts and fears, which of course then triggers more anxious feelings.
Avatar m tn I think that when I first started taking it, it may have been 3 weeks to a month before it started working. It's a relief, and if I ever get out of the habit of taking the inositol, the repeated music/words come back (and the OCD behavior as well). I'm NOT a doctor. Good luck to you all and let us all know if the Inositol works for you, too.
Avatar f tn Hi All, Just wondering if any of you have any suggestions to relieve the skin crawling/cold sweats/skin burning (on the inside)...? Honestly, I can deal with anxiety, lack if sleep and straight up pain but those other feelings make me absolutely miserable! I take clonidine but it doesn't help much. Any suggestions much appreciated...although i have a sneaking suspicion I just have to ride it out.

900948 tn?1242025637 i just can't stand my anxiety attacks anymore...i get them on a daily basis even without thinking about has put a pause into my life...feel very abnormal...can't do the normal things a mother does with her children...sometimes the xanax doesn't even relief my attacks...when will this go away...i feel like i can't take another attack...and like i said they come daily...i try to relax myself and it doesn't seem to work...
Avatar n tn I had been diag w depression and anxiety since 92 way before diag of HepC. I took zoloft, serzone even tried prozac [talk about a kick in the head] took zanax for anxiety, stopped taking all of it 3 years ago mainly because I decided I wanted to be a big girl & face life without "buffers" The HepC diag [found out last month] was a definite "downer" and I would think make even a "happy" folk depressed, worried and scared to frickin death.
539024 tn?1270582597 Hi all, I'm new to this forum, but reading your posts you seem like such a warm supportive group. I'm so glad to have found you! I just wondered if anyone else has worsening of their symptoms during the summer or other unstructured times such as vacations. I'm a teacher and during the school year, I function very well, but come summer (which is also when I had my first major "diagnosed" breakdown -- I know I've had anxiety all my life) it gets so much worse.

Avatar m tn Sorry I haven't been around in awhile, but I was doing pretty good there for about 3 weeks. I have been getting anxiety bad lately and don't understand why. I have been off since Dec 6th and still get some bad feelings. Is this normal to be up and down after this long? Feels like I am scratching holes in myself sometimes.
Avatar f tn Hey everyone. I'm am on here just to get some relief about a cyst causing me to have an ovary removed. I just had my right ovary removed 3/13/14 and at first I was staying at my moms house as she was taking care of me. I wanted to come home since I have to pay bills etc and have been through extreme anxiety since I've come home.
3060903 tn?1398568723 Exercise regularly Exercise is a natural and effective anti-anxiety treatment. For maximum relief for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), try to get at least 30 minutes of aerobic activity on most days. Aerobic exercise relieves tension and stress, boosts physical and mental energy, and enhances well-being through the release of endorphins, the brain’s feel-good chemicals.
Avatar n tn Relaxation exercises or even physical activity can help reduce anxiety a little. I like deep breathing exercises, or music or a hot shower. Something you enjoy and feel competent at may also help you relax.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 24 year old male who has been suffering from some type of anxiety for the past 4 weeks. So heres my story: I have always had this weird feeling in my chest. Feels like a dull, empty feeling. I always feel the need to cross my arms or put a pillow in my lap and lean on it while sitting down. On October 10th, I went to the bathroom and when i went to wipe, there was blood on the tissue. I looked down and my stools looked normal. I went to wipe again and there was still blood.
1238554 tn?1339423716 that terrifies us. What has helped me tremendously when travelling or flying with anxiety is anti-anxiety meds, like Ativan or Xanax. It won't take the anxiety completely away, but a decent dose should keep most of it at bay. I would have a talk with your doc and see if it's an option for you. Sometimes just knowing you have them "on you" is relief enough a lot of times. Certainly telling the flight attendant would be fine if you feel it would be helpful. For ME personally...
Avatar m tn If the gas pill does not bring relief then I assume it is anxiety and take a very low dose Xanax. By the way, my anxiety has a physical cause (as do many cases of anxiety). For me it is high cortisol.
477959 tn?1208207605 I was in and out of the hospital, they couldnt find anything wrong so said it was most likely anxiety. So I have been on lexapro and xanax 0.5 mg for about 5 months now. It helped a little when the symptoms came, but now they dont help at all. I just was switched to Zoloft 50 mgs and am taking more xanax than prescribed because I am feeling worse and worse. Sometimes they help, sometimes they dont. I need help. I cant get in with a pysciatrist till june, and I am suffering everyday.
Avatar m tn anyway, all of my STI testing (HIV, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hep, etc.) came back negative at 8 weeks (*sigh of relief*) i've not had any bumps/sores/lesions in the 3.5 months since then that would really indicate a genital herpes infection (i have battled HSV1/cold sores all my life), and tested Positive for HSV1 and Negative for HSV2 on Herpeselect IgG at 12 weeks.
Avatar f tn At first your anxiety levels may rise, but hold in there because soon after you will feel a relief of your panic/anxiety. The reason this works is because you're triggering your vagas nerve to reset your body functions such as heart rate and breathing telling your brain that the fight or flight mechanism is not needed. If you want to prevent these attacks and have been experiencing them for more than a month I would suggest you see a doctor or psychiatrist if you haven't already.
