Avatar n tn 32/male I have aggitation where I'm uncomfortable in my own mind, in my own skin -- severe 24/7 derealization -- anxiety -- nothing feels real and I'm 24/7 lightheaded. Lately it's been worse and I've had a huge appettite. If I cut back on food, it makes my symptoms worse. My once high sex drive has also crashed recently. I was wonder. Do this cluster of symptoms point to any particular neurotransmitter --- and would it be too low or too high in my brain?

Billions (Robert Sapolsky, neurobiologist Stanford University).
Avatar n tn I've been having some real strong anxiety. I'm on day 5 already. If I stay busy I'm fine but when I have downtime like watching TV or car rides I get really anxious about everything ahead (upcoming surgery/new born coming) I never had these feelings while on pain killers. Did anyone have this and when did it pass finally?

Avatar f tn I wrote this down below under another title, but some people may miss it, so I will repeat it, as it is important. For riba induced anxiety, you can get Rescue Remedy at the health food store (it's in a very small bottle). It is preserved in brandy so to evaporate the alcohol put 4 drops in a small glass (about 4 ounces) of very hot water. After a couple of minutes you can begin sipping it slowly. It really works. You can also take GABA (gamma aminobutyric acid) it supports a calm mood.

Avatar n tn that depression/anxiety is still going to be there after a period of active addiction. Which is a huge variable in how long it will take before people start feeling an improvement after withdrawal and abstinence. For some people this is relatively short, and for others very long. So there is no hard guideline in how it will take to fully recover. narkz: I am a firm believer in the use of antidepressants if done correctly and if the person wants to try them.
Avatar n tn I posted this same question in the addicton/substance abuse community (I'm having depression/anxiety issues after alcohol abuse) but maybe someone here might also know something about this. I know no one here knows this for sure, and maybe I'm looking in the wrong place on here but thought I would put it out there.

Avatar f tn Hi I've had ibs for 5 years now, the past two years has been great but my ibs anxiety has been through the roof. I can't sit in class without worrying, so I usually leave. And I can't stop worrying about what's going to happen next. I worry a lot. And I just need some help with working with my anxiety to calm it down a lot. It's more of a bother than anything else. I mean not being able to go eat with friends or simply watching a movie at the theater. Life is rough. I need help!
Avatar f tn Go to this webpage, it lists the symptoms of deficiency for all of the neurotransmitters (anxiety and depression are caused by an imbalance of one or more neurotransmitters). Tell me which one matches up the most with your symptoms, though it sounds like GABA and/or serotonin deficiency.
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried other ways besides taking SSRI's to help with anxiety? I think mine is just situational, and after taking Lexapro for 3 days I WANT OFF. I am about to start my yoga classes back up, and exercise.. Any other suggestions??

Avatar f tn Dog used to be outside, but climbed fence. She tore ligaments in her back leg climbing & it had to be amputated. While healing we put her in a vaulted lock crate. She bent door trying to get out (almost got out). She climbed after amputation. Inside now -other 2 dogs died last Aug. Husband doesn't work so she's not alone. She is left alone sometimes for few hrs. She does ok -sometimes she goes nuts trying to get out of house. Was on Buspar 10mg 2Xs/day & doing better.
Avatar f tn Personally, I would never quit any drug that targets brain neurotransmitters cold turkey -- it's tough enough doing it with a slow taper. Another problem is, when you switch from one drug right to another you can't tell if you have side effects if they're from the withdrawal or the new drug.
758077 tn?1282599161 I would have thought the anxiety would have gone by now. I know sleep will help, but I need to get rid of the anxiety first.

Avatar f tn Your anxiety sounds kind of like mine. Are you an everyday worrier? Totally over analyze everything? Does your stomach stay in a constant "knot" alot? Like bad butterflies in your stomach? That's my main symptom.. and it *****. The thing with benzos like lorazapam , is that they are addictive. I have lorazapam too! And am JUST LIKE YOU it sounds like. I only take it when I REALLY need one... and I usually just take one before bed if I have too..
1376367 tn?1319230027 This may have triggered this headache which started up as soon as I opened my eyes that morning. I do realize that neurotransmitters are definitely a factor in this puzzle and therefore nerves that would cause the swelling of the arteries and veins. I did take a migraine pain medication finally at 1:30 and it was relieved in an hour. So the link for me is coming together. I will possibly get more information once I visit the Fibro and Fatigue Center in Seattle.

Avatar n tn I have a history of anxiety and restarted low dose prozac 4 weeks ago. For the past few weeks I have been more tired than usual but figured it was the medication. For the past 4 days I have had muscle aches in my legs and some in my arms. I also have been feeling some lightheadedness off and on. Has anyone else had these symptoms in relation to anxiety?
325224 tn?1342799514 I later found out that Welbutrin has almost no effect on the reuptake of serotonin or norephinepherine (Two very key neurotransmitters in treating moderate to severe depression and anxiety.) After my experience with the "do nothing" theraputic effects of welbutrine, I was switched to Effexor XR. Wow! What a huge difference, The Effexor worked great and gave me 4 good years of 100% remission before it also lost it's effect and pooped out on me.
Avatar m tn I sense it like my neurotransmitters are misfiring and the burning sensations starts from middle outward and my neck burns and i feel irritated and disoriented. Feels like burning from inside my spine up to my middle of my brain. I really don't know what to do anymore. I am doing breathing techniques and i feel like i am going to loose it. I have been under quite a bit of stress for the past few years and it has caught up to me. What is everyone's suggestions. I don't want to loose this battle.
