8442871 tn?1398141631 What medication are you taking? Many antidepressant, often used for anxiety, are notorious for weight gain, and even relaxants can slow metabolism, but it would depend on how often you're taking them. So what drugs and how often? Alcohol is also a relaxant and also slows metabolism, that's the whole point of drinking it.
Avatar f tn I would like to be on medication to help my anxiety but it causes me to gain weight is there anything i could take that will help me with my disorder while helping me lose weight
Avatar m tn The weight gainers tend to be the less-stimulating anti-depressants, which are the ones unfortunately used for anxiety. I always say it depends on how badly affected your life is -- if you're still coping okay, therapy and gentler natural techniques and remedies can be tried before you have to turn to medication.
Avatar f tn Does any one take thesse natural products witht them.
Avatar m tn I am a 42 yo male. I work out regular.y lift weights, do cario and try to be fit. I recently had my first real physical where they measure cholesterol etc and cholesterol was high and tsh was 5.7. I am and have been increasingly tired sleeping so much more and going to bed early works but I need ambien to get my 10 hours that makes me feel better. I have been also recently gaining weight even tho my diet hasn't changed and I'm working out more than ever.
Avatar n tn However if your doctor has prescibed this drug for anxiety then I think that it is safe for you assume that it used for anxiety. Does it not mention what the drug is used for on the directions/side affects? They wouldn't prescribe a drug that is of no use to you. I was on a drug called Olanzapine and that had had some bad press about it possibly causing diabetes.
Avatar n tn The symptoms of overmedication are the same as the symptoms of hyperthyroidism...anxiety, tremors, insomnia, diarrhea, weight loss, tachycardia, etc. You can google for a complete list.
Avatar n tn For the last 4 years ive been struggling to lose weight. ive recently heard about T3 and its ability to raise a persons metabolic rate. i have a history of anxiety and panic attacks...could T3 worsen my anxiety? or cause me to have sleepless nights?
Avatar f tn I have back problems and the extra weight was brutal. Soon as as switched to Topamax (which has weight loss side effects) I lost the extra weight plus. Seizure meds are tough. They all have very extreme side effects. I've been on 4 different ones and I found that over time my body would get used of the side effects. Depakote was definately one of the better ones for me. Best of luck to you and your son.
Avatar f tn Used to take Paxil, but had a horrid experience coming off of it. Never recovered. But honestly, the name just came because there was no number that would work with my first name and that just popped out. And yes, it causes weight gain. All ssris can cause weight gain. Doesn't mean they will, but they all have that as one of the most common side effects. The starting dose for klonoping is either .5 or 1mg twice a day. Not 4mg. That's too high.
Avatar n tn I have cut out most coffee, sodas (although I usually drink diet) and alcohol. I usually have at least one drink per day. The weight loss is what is scaring me so badly. I don't know if it could be the dietary changes with the stress or if I am truly sick with something like cancer. I so desperately am afraid of dying and leaving my kids to grow up without a mom. They are my life. Does anyone have any similar experience?
Avatar f tn It sounds like you may need to see a doctor to discuss your anxiety. I too have severe anxiety, but then again, I'm also on Seroquel 200mg per day as a mood stabilizer for bi-polar. My doctor prescribed Klonopin (1mg) as needed, but to me that does is way too high. I find that .25 helps, as well as, taking very long walks in the evening when I get home from work. As far as the weight goes, you really need to force yourself to eat something, as not eating will have serious reprecussions.
Avatar m tn please tell me about the weight loss and muscle loss is it an symptom..or due to anxiety ? if so frequent is that someone loss weight due to it..?
Avatar n tn what i am asking is if this unexplained weight loss can be due to anxiety.....i see photos of myself from 6 months ago and im sure my cheekbones are less prominent and i can feel them now.....is it anxiety....
Avatar m tn i lost 49 pounds in 18 months and i blame my Anxiety for the weight loss, quite simply i found that i had very little appetite and basically had to force myself to eat.
190673 tn?1259203266 Now, can extreme anxiety, stress, excesive smoking and low apetite cause weight LOSS despite effexor causing weight gain?
8186495 tn?1396915293 Can MS be contributing to lack of weight loss?
Avatar n tn Weight loss IS a stated initial reaction in some, but stress and anxiety may also be the causes for any weight loss. Medication expenses are NOT yet a factor for anyone who has NOT even tested positive, so this idea should really be disregarded. Simply testing 3 months after any possible exposure is a must, this will also give you piece of mind. Practicing safe sex is a must & test if you think you have yourself at risk.
Avatar f tn Hi......nothing sounds crazy when it comes to anxiety! If we googled every medication out there we would never take anything due to side effects. But if one person in a million has a side effect, they have to list it but it doesn't mean it will happen to you. Xanax sound like the perfect medication for you because i'ts used on an as needed basis, but only a doctor can tell you this for sure. It's widely used with great success!
739988 tn?1386672969 It appears to be a potential. Look on the medication website and ask your psychiatrist for clinically accurate answers. It happens with other mood stabilizers such as Depakoate as well but if a person takes folic acid that can often be of help with this side effect.
Avatar f tn I have read that wellbutrin is safe to take during pregnancy and can cause weight loss (I am talking weight loss before pregnancy), so if it works as an antihistamine as well, it might be perfect for me. Thoughts??
Avatar f tn I am guessing that you see two different doctors. One for weight loss and one for your ADHD/anxiety. I say this because Basically phentermine is a stimulant (works like adderall), but works differently then adderall. I am not sure you should be taking it with adderall. "Phentermine use is containdicated in those who are: Taking amphetamine (i.e. Adderall, Dexedrine, Vyvanse), in the last 14 days" This quote is from - http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn t too low a dose actually, that is the standard dose for anxiety sufferers, a low dose would be 10mg/20mg. As for weight gain that is a side effect of propranalol cause it slows the metabolism but from what you have said you seem a very active person so as long as you continue to watch what your eating and exercise you should be ok.
