Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety medication pregnancy safe

anxiety

Avatar f tn So before I was pregnant I had extreme anxiety, and was on and off medication. Didnt really like the effects - I was either a mindless zombie, or super nice and happy. And for the first 2 trimesters my anxiety had been pretty low. But, now I'm 35 weeks and the anxiety is so bad. I get it for big things, small things, or i'll even just be sitting watching tv and get hit with a huge wave of anxiety for no reason. I've started scratching my self..
Avatar f tn I take.melatonin for sever anxiety during pregnancy. Ask your doctor it's all natural and safe. I have severe anxiety and usually take xanax bars daily but can't during pregnancy. Its usually used for helping people sleep but.it calms.my nerves very well!
1394262 tn?1369625192 Hi anyone taking anxiety medication & trying to conceive? I am trying to conceive & am dealing with my anxiety issue at the same time. I am thinking if I should see a psychiatrist for help. I will appreciate it if you could share with me if you are suffering from any side effect from anxiety medication or not. Thanks.

Avatar f tn Are there ANY anxiety/depression meds that are allowed to take during pregnancy?
541196 tn?1293552936 However, you may have a relapse of depression if you stop taking your antidepressant during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, or if you become pregnant while taking Lexapro, do not stop taking the medication without first talking to your doctor.
1268578 tn?1274884217 Im scared but I have no other choice as I have major insomnia and anxiety problems without the medication, and have already attempted to stop, causing several withdrawal problems. I am looking for anybody who has shared a similar experience and can relate to me, and help me through my pregnancy. Thank you , I am only 5 weeks.

Avatar f tn Are there ANY anxiety/depression meds that are allowed to take during pregnancy?
Avatar n tn Found the box, its called Cipramil. Safe to take while pregnant. I was on aprazolam then they switched me to cipramil for my anxiety. My doc said apraz & xanex werent safe while preg or breastfeeding. But this stuff is.
477940 tn?1212964169 I did some cross referencing and discovered that it has the same active ingredient as Risperdal. Also, I researched if it is safe during pregnancy and came to find that it increases the risk of having a still born baby. I will post the links: http://****.emedtv.com/ http://www.****.com/ This drug is secondary for use in bipolar disorder. That is why I had to go read about it, because I am a researcher and I know all of the bipolar meds available.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever tooken anxiety and depression medication while either pregnant or breastfeeding. How safe is it?
Avatar f tn No,you do not need to stop. Amoxicillin is pregnancy category b, which is safe to use during pregnancy. BTW I am a pharmacist.
Avatar f tn I understand where you are coming from, anxiety is difficult to deal with and pregnancy can make it worse. First thing taking any medication that is not prescribed to you, pregnant or not, is not a smart idea. Second xanax is a narcotic so it's a risky medication for anybody to take. Also said talk to your doctor, there are medications considered safe for pregnant woman with anxiety. Please also let your doctor know that you have taken the xanax in case something happens do to it.
Avatar n tn If you don't mind me asking, what medication are you using? I've had a prior history of anxiety and have talked to my OB, but anxiety "attacks" have become more frequent since my last appointment. I want to stay as natural as possible, but some medicine may be a last resort. Thanks everyone for the support!
Avatar f tn Anyone on anti anxiety medication? Or have been for prior pregnancies? I'm 23 weeks and I'm so worried about a lot of things making me sick (I also struggle with OCD and it has gotten really bad the last couple months, I spend a lot of time washing my hands). The worst thing for me is that we've had a cat living with us for the last three months and I am terrified of toxoplasmosis and it has really ruined me as far as my anxiety goes... gahh...
Avatar f tn Im on medication for depression and anxiety. Also occasionally I have a sedative in case I go bizzercerz. Would that hurt my child more than stress would?
1828249 tn?1320012338 Does the dr know you're pregnant? If the dr knows about your pregnancy, I doubt very much they would give you something that's not safe to take during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn With my first daughter, I came off of meds. It was awful! I talked with my doctor when I was pregnant with my second daughter (now 6), and he told me while no studies had been done, Paxil was not shown to cause any issues for the baby. I stayed on it, had a much better pregnancy and she was a healthy 11 lb 4 and 3/4 oz baby! Ok, I had gestational diabeties too. Both girls were c-section, so the younger had a small issue with breathing, but she is ok.
Avatar n tn However if your doctor has prescibed this drug for anxiety then I think that it is safe for you assume that it used for anxiety. Does it not mention what the drug is used for on the directions/side affects? They wouldn't prescribe a drug that is of no use to you. I was on a drug called Olanzapine and that had had some bad press about it possibly causing diabetes.
Avatar f tn This is my 2nd pregnancy. My first pregnancy I stopped my antidepressants/anxiety meds cold turkey and had no problems whatsoever, this pregnancy is a totally different story my anxiety is horrible and I cry, overthink and stress about everything but dont want to go back on my meds b/c the risks aren't worth it. How has everyone else dealt with depression while pregnant?
Avatar f tn If you see a doctor ask them about pregnancy safe anxiety medicine. I was taking kolonipin for years and prior to becoming pregnant I weaned myself off to have a healthy pregnancy (with my doctor's ok). Only when I absolutely needed it I would only take about 1/4 of a pill and that was after if Valerian Root or Benedryl didn't work. My doctor put me on Buspirone which is a pregnancy safe anti anxiety pill. I still only take it as needed. Best of luck. Yoga and meditation help too.
Avatar f tn It depends on which medication, there are some that are safe. Ive been having issues with it, because ive already taken all the ones that are safe at one point and there are very few that are safe.
Avatar f tn Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too. Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
Avatar n tn You really need to consult your dr or even your pharmacist to get accurate information on what meds are safe for you and your baby ahead of time. Some anxiety meds (i.e. Klonopin and Xanax) are category 'D' - not recommended for pregnant women. Good luck!
