Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety medication low side effects

20632981 tn?1503691167 My question is, does Prozac have low side effects like Zoloft but does it work better? And should I be taking a SSRI or SNRI for depression and anxiety, what works better with less side effects?
Avatar m tn I know this is only a temporary medication. From everyone's experience, what has been the least side effect antidepressant medication that you've taken? I'm really scared to go on antidepressants but it will be my last resort if my symptoms become intolerable. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn What I have found is the withdrawal and side effects are the most devastating. Benzos. - Side effects, slow thinking, tiredness, dull feeling. Wiithdrawal - A very very bad experience that can last from no days to years. Good Effects - They stamp out panic right away, but lose effectiveness over time for some. SSRI's Many side effects to start mostly weight gain, sexual side effects, and random thoughts. Withdrawal the brain zaps and SSRI Flu (Flu like symptoms). duration 3 days to months.
Avatar f tn And for the first 2 trimesters my anxiety had been pretty low. But, now I'm 35 weeks and the anxiety is so bad. I get it for big things, small things, or i'll even just be sitting watching tv and get hit with a huge wave of anxiety for no reason. I've started scratching my self.. my hands and legs have little rashes and scabs on then from my scratching and I've been getting very upset obviously - and unfortunately taking it out on my boyfriend.
Avatar n tn will it mask my sensation of the PACS and PVCs am feeling ?!! and cipralex .. is it good ? does it have any bad side effects or long term side effects ?!
Avatar f tn wuold you recommened clonazepam for anxiety and wellbuturin i have tried to deal with anxiety without medication and am having a very hard time. are there any side effects from the clonazepam that i should worry about because i took a half of ativan and gave myself a panic attack thinking it was going to cause me to have a heart attack. i want a little relief i have a fear of taking medication but i think i am ready to try something.
Avatar f tn Unless you completely stop taking a medication before starting another it's impossible to tell if your symptoms are a sign you're suffering withdrawal and quit too quickly or are side effects of the new medication. And if the celexa doesn't work for you the way the other med did, as not all meds do work for us, then you might be suffering the stimulative effects of the wellbutrin without the corresponding relaxing effect you were getting from the viibryd.
Avatar f tn do all of these crappy (literally) side effects EVER fade??? ive only been on the combined treatment for a month just seems to b getting worse...the vomitting, crapping, fatigue, body aches, head aches, raw throat and mouth....i just hate to ask my docs for all kinds of meds....just wondering if it gets better closer to the one year marker????
1179039 tn?1263997168 It takes time to adjust to Effexor and after 10 days you should start to feel the side effects less. That is a very low dose of effexor, when i was on it, i took 225 mg and i did well. I wonder why your dose is so low?
Avatar n tn I took Levoxyl for 1 month and suddenly the side effects of extremet faituge, insomnia, shortness of breadth, swelling of both legs and abdomen started to appear. 7829857 tn?1401196259 Many years ago I was on interferon and riboviron but could not tolerate the tx. I don't know if it is the roboviron that is causing the side effects. At this point I am pretty much bed-ridden. Is there anyone out there with a similar experience?
1895346 tn?1321309444 I am on lamotrigine for a mood stabilizer, Geodone as an antipsychotic (it isn't the best but I had bad side effects on the others), and low dose (50mg) trazodone for sleep. It is also a mild antidepressant. It took me three years to find a combination that worked. I am sorry you do not have access to proper medical care. I hope you can work with a general doctor to get some help.
Avatar n tn I have read in research that doctors have tried a combination of doses to combat the anxiety and the medications side effects with positive results. Is this so? Also, I have read about Buspar and Effexor, are these medications any good? Thank you for any Advice.
Avatar n tn My question is how long will he experince the side effects he discountinued taking the megestrol about 7 weeks ago but has experinced hair lost, headachhes, shortnnesss of breath, low libedo, leg cramps, andd weigght gain. How loongg before these side efffect go away?
Avatar n tn Dear Laura, Imipramine (Tofranil) is a tricyclic antidepressant that is used in the treatment of depression and anxiety. Side effects such as low blood pressure, palpitations, heart problems, disorientation, delusions, insomnia, anxiety, nightmares, tingling, numbness, incoordination, dry mouth, blurred vision, jaundice etc. can result from Tofranil use. Zantac can cause some of these side effects.
Avatar n tn It is working extremely well, and I am very pleased with the results in terms of my anxiety. However, I am experiencing sexual side effects. Since taking the medication I have an extremely low sex drive, and I have difficultly becoming aroused, and achieving an orgasm. Prior to taking the medication I did not have these difficulties. I do not want to stop taking the Celexa, so my question is, Is there anything I can do or take to lessen or remove the sexual side effects?
415867 tn?1323369103 I always weight the side effects vs. the rewards of any medication I put into my body. For me, the advantages of SSRIs like Zoloft, Lexapro, etc., outweigh the negatives. Keep working at it and definitley keep an open line of communication with your doctor about it. Keep us posted!
Avatar f tn (I'm also quitting smoking.) He said that one of the side effects could be suicidal thoughts. I have never had these before in my life. I am scared to death that this medication is going to make me think about things like that. Does this happen to a lot of people? And, does it happen with people who don't usually have these types of thoughts?
Avatar m tn None of us want to take medication, but for many, it has given us our life back. Anxiety is like any other medical condition requiring medication to control the symptoms. If you were told you had diabetes you wouldn't think twice about taking the necessary medication(s), anxiety is not different. You can try therapy which can be a lengthy process, and often the medication is needed during this time. You can safely wean off benzos under the guidance of your psychiatrist.
Avatar m tn The medication I was initially prescribed for the anxiety is citalopram. I took this for about 3 weeks until I started having some side effects. I was hungry all the time! Then I was prescribed sertraline which I took for about 6 days. On the sixth day of taking this medication, I had another panic attack induced from a low blood sugar episode. Every time I have one of these anxiety/panic attacks I completely lose my appetite. Which is a bad mix with hypoglycemia.
3183328 tn?1351187117 What works for one person may not work for another. Anxiety medication is a tool, not the solution. It can be a helpful tool, but ultimately this is yours to conquer, and there's no right or wrong selection across the board.
550027 tn?1215770864 I have been on 40 mg paxil a little over a yr and i am taking birth control pills with it the dr put me on the med because i deal with really bad anxiety attacks and depression and worrying but i have gained alot of weight i went off the pills because of the weight gain without consulting a doctor i started having really bad dreams my heart would beat out of control and i was throwing up and having bad headaches and staying really dizzy i thought something was bad wrong with me not know
Avatar n tn I read in another article that other side effects include increased anxiety and heart palpitations. How can this drug reduce panic but increase anxiety at the same time? I guess I'm asking what is the difference?
Avatar m tn If it's only been a few days, keep in mind the side effects start immediately but the effects usually take a few weeks to kick in. This is a good drug to quit early if you believe it isn't for you, as it is one of the most difficult to stop taking. Talk to your psychiatrist before you stop, but you can research weaning protocols in books and articles. But again, you've been on it so short a time it should be a snap to stop.
Avatar m tn they dont seem to be doing anything to me except side effects 1st week was worst my anxiety was worse had panic attacks, constant tiredness jittery sweating calmed down bit now i just have constantly shaky hands all time no matter what i do, doctor said thats just me im not sure what he means. anyone else get this? also i dont want him to up my dose as the side effects but not noticing any change does it take longer? thanks.
Avatar n tn Having PAT over and done with is pretty appealing compared with fighting medication side effects for years and years.
Avatar n tn Glad side effects went away pretty quickly for you. Did you have any side effects when you upped from 5 to 10. I started today taking 7.5. I have been on 5 for almost 2 weeks. Just wondering what to expect. Probably will do this dose for a week, then go to 10. I take mine for anxiety so I am very sensative to stimulating meds (can't even take a decongestant or drink ANY caffeine). So I am hoping I don't have any anxiety or nervousness side effects.
Avatar f tn The second is that some psychiatrist will add Wellbutrin,as stimulating antidepressant in low dosage as an adjunct to the ssri and it sometimes takes away the sexual side effects. But then you're on two drugs, so it's a choice. So give it time, see how it goes, but if you find the side effects are too much for you and you need to try a different medication, do it sooner rather than wait a long time -- the longer you're on these drugs, the longer it takes to taper off them.
