1895346 tn?1321309444 I sleep 2 or 3 hours per night and not all at once. My anxiety is so bad that I don't even answer my phone because I don't know who it is. My world is my house and my phone conversations with my kids. Twice I was rushed to the hospital. Once with a seizure and again when my heart rate was 176 beats per minute. No one will listen to me. I can't take it anymore. I feel like the world is coming to an end ALL THE TIME.

Avatar f tn Hi I was diagnosed with anxiety a while a go but I never took any medication I really believe I need medication because sometimes it can be pretty bad I failed my exams for year 12 unit 3 due to having a panic attack -_- I have shortness of breath, no matter what I know I suddenly forget everything. I have hot and cold chills run down my body. I feel dizzy. I start moving a lot, like rocking myself just to keep calm. (I sound crazy I know :P) I sometimes tremble and I just feel terrible.
Avatar f tn My therapist recently suggested the idea of going on some medication for my anxiety. Thats something I have thought of for a while but am nervous to go forward with. I am nervous about the side effects that come along with the medications. I am looking to hear some other people's experiences with medication and what the pros and cons are.
411389 tn?1230128077 Can anyone compile a list of the most commonly used medication for General Anxiety Disorder. I am going back to see my GP tomorrow and I would be grateful if I have some details as to what is available for sufferers of this condition. I really appreciate this and the only reason I ask is that I ant to be in a position whereby at least I have other alternatives open to me apart from Diazepam. Thanks again and I really hope everything works out for everyone here. You're in my thoughts.
630309 tn?1222449859 As your doctor stated most of the side effects should dissipate over the next few days. There is a long list of anti-anxiety medication, but for some reason your doctor chose this one. Not knowing your physical or psychological history it would be difficult to recommend an alternative, so unless you have reason not to, trust in your doctor. Let us know how you are doing and take care of yourself.
Avatar f tn 9 months of this hell I think I experience everything that anxiety can really offer got the buzzing in my ears now anyway I'm waiting on therapy that's due in feb my doc as got me a support worker cause that's how bad I really am with it my gf is expecting my kid in feb so was hoping I can get rid of this before the baby is born but dosent look good
Avatar n tn You could always call the pharmacist and ask if That's one of the side effects of the drug, but even if it's not listed under the drugs side effects list in the pharmacists directory doesn't mean it's not possibly. At the same time I'm not sure what you're taking the medication for, but stress can cause what you are experiencing as well.
Avatar f tn LOL But there IS medication that you can take once a day at least. Today's antidepressants prescribed for anxiety are effective and really not too bad for side effects. most of the side effects happen in the beginning and then they peter out. Granted, no one wants to take medication if they don't have to and there are cons to taking it, but one has to really judge if the benefit of less anxiety is worth that. That's up to you and your doctor.
Avatar f tn Healthy diet, exercise and relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or even yoga. You can also try natural anti-anxiety medication like Seredyn and Serelax. They are made with the supplements i will list under. Basically it's a package deal of all the supplements in one bottle.
Avatar n tn But to answer your question, yes, there ARE side effects with this med. I could list them all for you, but don't want to put ideas into your head. If you'd care to tell us what you're feeling, we could tell you if that was a "normal" side effect. If you are not getting relief from this med for the condition it was prescribed for and are, in fact, having unacceptable side effects, you must talk with your doctor about discontinuing this med.
Avatar f tn ive been suffering from anxiety for 8 months now and i have been on and off medication for the past 7 months also been having alot of ear infections aswell and now ive been having dizzy spells which has been ongoing lasting all day for three days .
1201937 tn?1265595082 Some medications carry more side effects, than others and when one has a bad experience with a medication, another has a good one. It boils down to what will work for you and your needs. If your doctor is not attentive, find a new one, quit wasting your money and time on your current one. You need one who will sit down with you and explain the medications he/she feels would work best for you, why, and the side effects.

237053 tn?1258832026 I really thought maybe I was going crazy. I have anxiety all of the time and was wondering if i need medication for it!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with anxiety/depression, OCD and possible mixed phase mania/bipolar. I've had all the typical anxiety symptoms, but more than anything I've had a growing sense of daytime sleepiness, disconnectedness from reality and my body, and weird occurrences relating to sleep. It's like a woozy dizzy feeling that comes with a lot of brain fog. On top of that, I've recently been having times when I feel high or almost as if I'm having an orgasm, that sort of toe curling euphoria.
Avatar n tn A few years ago I was drugged and attacked and ever since then I have developed an anxiety disorder as well as PTSD. I am terrified of taking any type of medication, even aspirin. I have finally begun therapy, and my therapist really wants me to try to take something and I was prescribed a low dose, 37.5mg of Venlafaxine (Effexor) by my primary care doctor. I have read all the possible side effects, one of which is seizure.
Avatar n tn But there is ALWAYS a reason for our anxiety. We just have to work a bit harder to figure out what the root cause of our anxiety is and learn to deal with it. This is usually done through therapy and often a combination of therapy plus medication. I hope I answered your question.
Avatar f tn clearly, you've developed social anxiety a) may I message you with a list of links to my posts containing tips on managing anxiety?
1669548 tn?1318792334 Hi All, I'm curious to hear from anyone else who practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for their anxiety, and how effective it may be long-term without medication- I've been using CBT for about 2 years, and it's been a godsend as far as reducing the severity and frequency of debilitating anxious moments, but I still feel that my baseline anxiety level is higher than it could be.
Avatar n tn Have had multiple tests all normal with the final diagnosis of anxiety. I attempted to go on an anti-anxiety medication and tried for 2 days. I was so out of it, aggitated and total loss of control. The side effects could last up to 2 wks and I wasn't willing to try another day. I have Ativan only as needed and I am so afraid to become addicted to it, I think I have used it 3 times total. I am talking with a counselor and find that talking with a close friend or family member helps.
1515545 tn?1291399364 But please, do seek some information from your doctor before you brush it off as anxiety. It could be something as simple as a reaction to your medication. I'm not sure. Please let us know what your doctor says, and in the mean time feel free to join in here. This is a great place for support.
