Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety medication kids

anxiety

Avatar f tn Read up on the medication. The ER doctor I saw when I found out I was pregnant (we didn't think we could have kids so it was the last thought on my mind when I had symptoms) prescribed me an anti nausea medicine only for me to look it up & see all the stuff it can do to a baby. No thanks! Do research yourself!
1895346 tn?1321309444 I sleep 2 or 3 hours per night and not all at once. My anxiety is so bad that I don't even answer my phone because I don't know who it is. My world is my house and my phone conversations with my kids. Twice I was rushed to the hospital. Once with a seizure and again when my heart rate was 176 beats per minute. No one will listen to me. I can't take it anymore. I feel like the world is coming to an end ALL THE TIME.
Avatar n tn I have been seeing a good theropist off and on for a few years for depression and anxiety. My preference has always been to not take medication. Recently I've started having panic attacks here and there (elevators, escalators, driving over bridges). In addition, my irritability has gotten much worse. My therapist suggested that it may be time to try some medication, and sent me to a prescribing Dr. He prescribed Paxil.

Avatar n tn Call the answering service for the surgeon, describe your anxiety and see if they will give you an anti-anxiety medication and perhaps a sleeping pill for Sunday. Good luck.
1694901 tn?1317009564 If you were told you had diabetes, you wouldn't think twice about taking medication for that.....anxiety is no different. Anxiety is robbing you of so much and therapy and/or medication is how we fight back. It's great that we have these choices because for many of us....medication gave us our lives back. You can feel so much better!

Avatar f tn Has anyone gotten anxiety and depression well pregnant? I started getting anxiety attacks at night and now I get them day and night. I'm starting to get depressed over them. The doctor wants to put me on anxiety/depression medicine but I don't want to take any medicine well pregnant. I also read that it can cause heart problems for the baby. Have you taken medicineand did it affect the baby? Are there natural ways to help with anxiety?
Avatar f tn Anxiety can definity cause physical systoms, it usually a sign of stress. I had the pounding headaches and was really stress at work my doctor suggested Lexpro for my Anxiety he said it would help. He also put me on a 1mg of xanax which seemed to help with my Axiety but it was a high dose and I am havig trouble coming off of it, it has nasty withdrawals.
Avatar n tn HE HAS NOW GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE HE IS GETTING TIRED OF THE FOOD HE WOULD ALWAYS EAT. HE HAS BEEN SEEING A COUNSELOR FOR HIS ANXIETY TOWARDS FOOD, BUT IT HAS NOT HELPED. WE HAVE TRIED MANY THINGS INCLUDING BRINGING NEW FOODS FOR HIM TON TRY IF HE WANTED TO IN FRONT OF THE COUNSELOR, RATING HIS ANXIETY AND HIS THOUGHTS ON HOW HE FELT IT WOULD TASTE AND HOW IT TASTED. THIS WORKED FOR A WHILE, BUT ONLY IN HER OFFICE.
114870 tn?1210301946 My husband says I should see a doctor and get put on some kind of medication. But what, how can medication every fix my sadness. Sorry, I just feel like this is the best place to ask. I've never expressed these feelings to anyone so thanks for listening.
Avatar f tn You've experienced the same symptoms? Did you take an anti-depressant or an anti-anxiety medication ? How long did it take you to feel normal?
Avatar f tn Told my doctor and I went back to 10mg cipralex and small amount of Wellbutrin Well, my husband agreed with me that I should try to go off the meds I did wean myself off but way to abruptly -I had stopped all medication within a month Since June 15th I have not had a pill I am now experiencing very bad nocturnal panic attacks and anxiety early in morning sometimes throughout the day I have been taking vitamin B, Omega 3, Magnesium and some Holy Basil to try and help my symptoms.
Avatar n tn But there is ALWAYS a reason for our anxiety. We just have to work a bit harder to figure out what the root cause of our anxiety is and learn to deal with it. This is usually done through therapy and often a combination of therapy plus medication. I hope I answered your question.
1306047 tn?1333247191 I'm really interested in some real life testimonies of people's experiences with medication for anxiety and perhaps OCD. I'd appreciate some perspectives anyone who care's to elaborate.
Avatar m tn The best thing to do is ask your doctor, but I have a bit of experience with anxiety medsw and can tell you what has happened with me. I started suffering with anxiety after my kids were born and an antidepressant like Zoloft, Paxil, etc. Can help alleviate anxiety and does not cause addiction or inflict problems on your social drinking or working out.
Avatar m tn Ive been suffering with anxiety for about 11 years and for the most part dealt with it pretty well but in the last year it has gotten to the point where im convinced im dying. Im due to see a cardioligist on the 27th of feb and im petrified of what he might find. anxiety is ruining my life i cant work or do anything socially anymore and its putting real strain on my relationship with my girlfriend because when i met her i was going through a good spell.
203342 tn?1328740807 It did nothing for me) and one who gave me an anti-anxiety medication, which I took one time and threw them away because the room was spinning and I felt like I was going to fall. I am not interested in taking drugs. I am interested in more natural remedies and learning how to deal with it better. I think doctors are just too quick to hand out the drugs as a pat answer for everything. I don't want to take drugs. I don't like drugs. I barely ever take Tylenol.
Avatar f tn But in saying that I only was able to wrestle this type of control from being on medication. Before medication they threw me about on a whim.
Avatar n tn My question is really whether abusive amounts of alcohol consumption can trigger these anxiety phases. The most recent phase was at the end of a two week period of drinking at least a few drinks everynight and some weekend nights were excessive (8-10 drinks). Does anyone know if there is any evidence that short periods of excessiving drinking can be the trigger for attacks? Both doc's don't believe I'm alcohol dependent I just sometimes overdo it.
Avatar n tn In the past month or so the chest pain seems to be more constant than not. How can anxiety cause this chest pain all the time. I have also noticed that my heart has seemed to do this funny little jump. With all these tests that have been normal can I relax and accept this as anxiety and know it is not my heart. Would these tests have picked up whatever could have been wrong? I have been extremely worried about this. I dont think I have that much stress in my life.
Avatar n tn From what I have learned through research it is a chemical imbalance in the brain that causes hair-trigger anxiety reflexes, so to speak. I have severe anxiety, have had panic attacks since the age of 12 - so do many, many members of my family. Even some folks who have never had a heart palpitation in my family have severe anxiety. So, I don't think it's a physical condition (at least not as they are commonly thought of) with most people, but an imbalance of brain chemicals.
398624 tn?1266273049 The only medication I take is Xanax. I take one a day. I used to take Ativan and I took 3 a day and my body got immune to those. Xanax does help some, but I can still feel the symptoms some and then, it all comes back when the Xanax does wear off. I am on the computer probably about 2-3 hrs a day. I used to be on the computer ALL day with my job and it didn't bother me then.
Avatar f tn Anxiety can cause all kinds of feelings, and numbness is certainly one of them. If your doctor is aware of your anxiety and he says it is nothing, then I would try not to worry too much about it. However, if he is NOT aware of your anxiety condition, then I would tell him about it and how it seems to correlate with your being anxious. Just another thougth, have you seen a chiropractor for this?
Avatar f tn hey everyone, im not sure who it was that was talking about medication that they were on for depression. but i was telling them that i was going to try to get some so my hubby and kids would be able to put up with me. well i got some medication.
