Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety medication inderal

anxiety

Avatar n tn I was prescribed Inderal 10mg twice a day for anxiety. From what I have found on the internet this medication is generally used for blood pressure issues. My blood pressure has never been elevated and I'm wondering if anyone has taken this med for anxiety. I'm worried it will lower my blood pressure and cause some sort of complication.
967168 tn?1477588089 We were in a minor car accident on Friday and I got upset and bam-o pvc's started and haven't stopped - so I took Inderal when we came home and it helped. My question is about is Inderal - I thought it was for migraines? how long typically does it work or last? My bottle says take as needed...
Avatar n tn I HAVE BEEN ON THIS MEDICATION FOR OVER 20 YRS AND WAS TOLD NOT TO JUST STOP TAKING THE MEDICATION. BY THE WAY I WAS TAKING THIS MEDICATION FOR PALPITATIONS/RAPID HEART BEAT/ANXIETY. HAS ANYONE BEEN THROUGH THIS AND WHAT KIND OF MEDICATION WERE YOU PRESCRIBED TO REPLACE THE INDERAL. ALSO MY DOCTOR WANTS ME TO TRY TROPAL A BETA BLOCKER BUT I AM NOT SURE ABOUT IT SINCE MY BLOOD PRESSSURE AND HEART RATE ARE FINE AND AT TIMES A LITTLE LOW.
Avatar n tn I have been on Half Inderal for about 3 months for Anxiety and I notice that I have problems remembering things and I find I feel kinda spaced out, and slowed down, I'm also a bit more clumsy as well. Anyone else like this ?
Avatar f tn Im afraid of becoming addicted to them, and from what I hear most anxiety medication is highly addictive so I have put off any sort of treatment for my anxiety.
Avatar n tn Your right about wellbutrin making the anxiety worse. I take it along with Inderal and Klonopin and the combination of those work great for me. The wellbutrin helps my depression the Inderal the shaky hands, heart racing, sweating and blushing. Klonopin (the best pill I have ever taken) work GREAT for my anxiety. I also take Elavil at bedtime to help me sleep. I hope you find something soon. Take care........
Avatar n tn The insert from the pharmacy states Inderal is not to be used with any Thyroid Medication. Many sites say it is used all the time with ATDs? Beta blockers are often used with hyperthyroidism. A package insert can be a confusing thing because of all of the specifics written which must entail all of the adverse and interactions of the medications. It is important to administer and change dosage of any medication with a physicians guidance. 3.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Usually, the docs will prescribe Inderal more as a daily medication for anxiety prevention. I did have a friend who was prescribed it on an "as needed" basis for presentations just as you describe. Her dose was 10 mg. That is a pretty low, standard "starting" dose. The nice thing about a beta blocker like Inderal vs a benzo, like Ativan or Xanax, is you don't get that sedated, drowsy feeling (most of the time for most people anyway).
Avatar n tn like Ativan, but - depending on how you are taking it - it's not without its potential dangers if stopped suddenly if you've been taking it a long time. Inderal is a betablocker (heart medication) sometimes prescribed to help anxiety. It is often prescribed with anti-anxiety medications. You need to know EXACTLY how you are supposed to take Inderal (with or without the Ativan) and how you are supposed to stop taking it if there comes the time you want to.
968908 tn?1274874715 I have discussed this with my psychiatrist and two GP's at my practice and all they do is take my blood pressure say its ok and send me packing saying its anxiety related..... thats all i get from them, anxiety related. Yes i agree to a point cause i am anxious far more of lately but that is simply because of how all the dizziness, breathlessness is making me feel. I feel like im dying.
Avatar m tn This is what I found on inderal that scared me because it says that inderal and/or inderal withdrawal can cause people even with no heart problems to have cardiac arrest http://www.rxcarecanada.com/Inderal-LA.asp?
Avatar n tn You may find that you feel a little tired and sluggish until your body adjusts to the medication. I actually noticed it less with the Inderal LA as opposed to regular Inderal.
Avatar n tn I noticed few side effects when starting the medication. I find that most doctors are very open to talking about anxiety and do not see it as any different than any other medical condition in which they can assist a person.
Avatar n tn Hi Lauren, I know that Inderal can be taken for migraines and anxiety and that it quite effective in both. I am on 80mg of Long Acting Inderal twice a day for anxiety and it really has helped. It is released slowly into the blood stream and lasts whereas other beta blockers can be wearing off within an hour. Inderal has worked wonders with me. As xanweaner has said, visit your doctor to discuss the options and go from there.
Avatar n tn Again, we are not looking for an antidepressant as much as an anti-anxiety medication with few side effects when used over the long term. Also, the goal is to help her with her anxiety, not to turn her into a zombie. We would want her to maintain her "true self," so to speak, not become overly sedated.
Avatar f tn Im trying really hard to control myself but nothing so far has worked so now here I am looking to the medical community for help. Is this anxiety? How can I stop it, preferably without medication but im getting desperate I dont want my nervousness or anxiety to control my life like this. I haven't really talked to anyone about this before im not sure what to do.
Avatar n tn I suffered a "nervous breakdown" in 1975. I experienced a high state of anxiety, agoraphobia, depression, panic attacks, and tremor in my dominant hand/wrist. Due to the tremor, I was unable to write or eat in social situations. Being a part-time musician, my first acute panic attack was experienced at the beginning of a performance and was accompanied by (or triggered by?) the tremor.
687614 tn?1244201579 My doctor's say no, but I am still afraid. The doctor wants to start me on Propanolol (Inderal) 40 mg 2 times a day. Has anyone else had similar problems as me, and did Propanalol help them? I am really curious as to others switching to this med. I hope the side effects are less than Bystolic. My dx SVT and Sinus tach due to Sino atrial node dysfunction due to high anxiety?
Avatar n tn i have been taking these capsules called inderal la for my depression and anxiety and they are not helping at all with my condition and i wanted to know if anybody else was taking the same medication and if it has helped them.
Avatar m tn Anyone got any suggestions for what I try next for performance anxiety (public speaking)? Propranolol is doing funny things to my head (fuzzy, blurry thinking, verging on mini-intermittent headaches) a week or so after taking it. Strange thing is, I was using it fine for about 5-6 years, then suddenly I've developed these side effects... I could live with them, but for the fact they stay around for several weeks after just one dose and it drives me crazy...
Avatar f tn could anyone tell me if propanalol helps physical stress and anxiety my cardio doctor has put me on a beta blocker for abnormal heart rythum due to anxiety its called Bisoprolol but i read that its only for high BP and heart rythum. But the propanalol does the same but allso helps anxiety if so i would ask my doctor next time i visit if i could try it as i dont want lots of tablets if i can take one that helps my heart rythum and anxiety at the same time thanks everyone.
3060903 tn?1398568723 It’s important to be aware of the risks of anxiety medication, too. Anxiety medication can cause a wide range of unpleasant and sometimes dangerous side effects. Many medications for anxiety are also habit forming and physically addictive, making it difficult to stop taking them once you’ve started. The bottom line If you have severe anxiety that’s interfering with your ability to function, medication may be right for you.
Avatar f tn He prescribed 10 mg propranolol (inderal) 3 times a day and an extra 10 mg inderal 1 hour before the presentation + 0.25 mg Xanax 1 hour before the presentation. He assured me that the presentation will go well. But I am really scared I might get a panic attack again when I am giving the presentation. Can you guys help me figure out if this medication will help me thru or not?
246577 tn?1202741376 I've had SVT for several years, but ended up in the ER this week and had to be converted. My doctor has offered the choice of medication or the ablation procedure. I'm 58, active and don't want to take medicine the rest of my life. I am going to the Cleveland Clinic for a consultation regarding catheter ablation. My family is against this. I've been having an SVT episode about once a month now for 2 years. I'm always able to convert, until now.
Avatar f tn i have severe anxiety and have tried lexapro zoloft and paxil and they all made me feel worse is there anything that i can take to make me feel better. i have been taking larazepam for about a month, i am supposed to take .5mg twice a day but because it makes me so sleepy i only take half that amount and that helps but now i am scared that i am getting addicted, is that possible on that small of a dose for only a months time.
Avatar n tn female with a long history of going on/coming off all kinds of meds to treat my anxiety/panic disorder that has been going on for five years now. My biggest problem symptom from the anxiety (also have naturally low blood pressure) is heart palpitations. I've had them since the entire anxiety problem started. In the past two years I started to develop very mild chest pain and had EKGs and an echo done to rule out MVP and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (which my mother has).
Avatar f tn Ever since I can remember, I have had HORRIBLE stage fright, acute anxiety, near-panic. Recently I've been diagnosed with concentric left ventricular hypertrophy, kidney stones, complex partial seizures, etc., so my anxiety has been compounded. I have access to both Toprol XL and Xanax, and I'm curious which one will help mediate some of my stage fright symptoms (I told intend to take them all the time; only when I know I'll be afraid).
468452 tn?1225968488 Hi everyone, I drop by here occasionally but rarely post anything this is because I was convinced that I didn't have anxiety but instead had an undiagnosed serious illness. My story starts back in February when I gave birth to my first (and last!) son, a day after delivery I didn't feel too well and my midwife thought that I had a uterine infection. This then started me worrying about my heart as I had read in the past that infections can damage your heart.
Avatar m tn Hello again , i have some strange issues again,i was on celexa severe years for ocd and anxious disorder, but 2 weeks ago again start panic attacks and body shaking ,i go to doc and he prescrib some tavors for anxiety, and some other pills for tremors bloonis and inderal, and change my main pill from celexa to ladose, I have make all blood tests ecg, thiroid and all was normal, but the fact is that happens again these uncontrolably shakes random times could be anxiety or somethink else cause is
Avatar f tn I underwent treatment for Hepatitis C (PegIntron with Riboviron) and experienced profuse sweating. Among all the medications I took for my liver, I was prescribed Inderal (propanalol) to counter the profuse sweating that was a side affect of the interferon. . I currently experience profuse sweating as a result of anxiety as well as living in a part of the country (US) that experiences regular summer high temperatures around 115-120 degrees F.
