Avatar n tn i have been taking these capsules called inderal la for my depression and anxiety and they are not helping at all with my condition and i wanted to know if anybody else was taking the same medication and if it has helped them.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Inderal 10mg twice a day for anxiety. From what I have found on the internet this medication is generally used for blood pressure issues. My blood pressure has never been elevated and I'm wondering if anyone has taken this med for anxiety. I'm worried it will lower my blood pressure and cause some sort of complication.
Avatar f tn Inderal is not likely having a major effect on your blood pressure. If it is short acting Inderal, taking it prn (as needed) for anxiety, I doubt it is having any effect on your pressure. Even if long acting, that is a low dose that is not likely to produce any antihypertensive (blood pressure) effect. 2. Not likely. 3. I would wait until you have 24 hour ambulatory recordings performed before starting medication.
Avatar n tn Hi Lauren, I know that Inderal can be taken for migraines and anxiety and that it quite effective in both. I am on 80mg of Long Acting Inderal twice a day for anxiety and it really has helped. It is released slowly into the blood stream and lasts whereas other beta blockers can be wearing off within an hour. Inderal has worked wonders with me. As xanweaner has said, visit your doctor to discuss the options and go from there.
194555 tn?1264286923 He prescribed me bispodlol (sp) I went to see my gp this morning because of my mental state with these, and i have other problems going on, he prescribed me inderal instead.. he insisted 40mg, made me a little angry as he kept saying anxiety is causing my palpitations.. but it's the other way round.. so insisted on me taking 40 mg, i spoke to the pharmacist and i can cut them in half, but he was busy so couldnt ask other questions..
967168 tn?1477584489 I can't believe it but it's been a full week and I feel alot better, still some swelling, but it may take awhile to fully go away - I can live with that. We were in a minor car accident on Friday and I got upset and bam-o pvc's started and haven't stopped - so I took Inderal when we came home and it helped. My question is about is Inderal - I thought it was for migraines? how long typically does it work or last? My bottle says take as needed...
Avatar f tn He said that the best treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy, but he prescribed me some medication to get me through this semester. He prescribed 10 mg propranolol (inderal) 3 times a day and an extra 10 mg inderal 1 hour before the presentation + 0.25 mg Xanax 1 hour before the presentation. He assured me that the presentation will go well. But I am really scared I might get a panic attack again when I am giving the presentation.
1312221 tn?1273722932 Both meds are beta blockers, and while they are in the same class of medications, they vary a bit in their chemical make-up and action. Inderal is the most commonly prescribed beta blocker for the treatment of anxiety or anxiety-related symptoms (ie fast heart rate, palpitations, blushing, etc). They are also at times prescribed on an "as needed" basis for people with stage fright, or fear of speaking to large crowds.
Avatar f tn I was on inderal for years. About a year ago my doctor took me off the medication because he said i had 3 normal EKG's. That i just ran a rapid heart rate. Since I have been off my medication i have noticed that what my family thinks is Panic Attacks/Anxiety. I have been through alot in the past years and always am stressing about something. I want to stay home all the time because of how i feel when i go out. I get shaky at just the thought of leaving the house.

Avatar n tn I wonder if maybe if the sweating is caused by anxiety and Inderal can help with anxiety that would be a way it could help??? Just my thoughts but I really am not to sure.
Avatar n tn my physician put me on celexa, inderal, klonopin and trazadone. with celexa alone i have rage attacks, when she added klonopin to the regime i got migraines hence the inderal. The trazadone was added to help me sleep (i was averaging 1-2 hrs a night). i wanted to sleep all the time and could not stay awake. After a few months of this i decided something need to change, doctor switched klonopin with lithium and stopped the inderal and trazadone.
Avatar f tn Try taking the pills 12 hours apart, and take the night one before you go to bed. Inderal actually has an anti-anxiety component, so you might sleep well and not be bothered by the pvcs. Then you can take the other pill in the morning when you're ready. Don't worry, the pvcs aren't going to hurt you. You can always cut the dose again, or call the doctor about stopping or switching the medication. Let us know how you're doing tomorrow.
Avatar f tn But, you will not have withdrawal symptoms due to Inderal. Inderal is a Beta Blocker. It is a blood pressure medication. The reason why it is important to not stop taking it right away is because of how it effects your blood pressure and your pulse. If you were to stop taking it right away, your blood pressure and/or heart beat/pulse could change dramatically very quickly and that could be life-threatening. That is why it is important not to stop the medication quickly.
1912569 tn?1485015929 Hi :). I need some input on this issue. The medications I am taking now are: quetiapine 25mg night, lamotrigine 100mg night, wellbutrin 150mg twice a day. And inderal 10mg as needed for anxiety. Lamotrigine gave me a rash, wellbutrin (generic version) made me irritable and snippy at everything. The seroquel (generic version) has been wonderful, although it makes me hungry but since I take it at night I try not to stay awake with it. Inderal (propranolol) gave me apathy so I am taking less.
Avatar m tn 5) and since then using the same tablet till recently My readings were pretty normal and infact my doc was convinced and wanted to reduce my dosage to only olmesartan medoxomil. Of late i have developed severe anxiety disorder and panic attacks, so started using Inderal 20 on the advice of Psychiatrist. I bought a bp monitor and started checking at home regularly and maintain a chart. Almost always my readings are well within the normal range (<130/80).
110220 tn?1309306861 After several test, I was told that I had Graves disease and I began taking Inderal and methimazole. The Inderal is a Godsend! No more rapid beats and the nervousness is gone. I am able to sleep 7 hours a night most nights. When will the thyroid medicine kick in where I won't need bet blockers? I am taking 2 tablets a day for thyroid (5mg). I am due back in a few weeks for a blood test. Can anyone share there experience with methimazole. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Im afraid of becoming addicted to them, and from what I hear most anxiety medication is highly addictive so I have put off any sort of treatment for my anxiety.
Avatar f tn After several tests to rule out any serious heart cond., I was put on Inderal, which worked wonderful for 30 years. Did not feel them any longer. Now, at 62, Inderal no longer being made, and I was put on Propanolol, (Inderal generic), does not seem to work as well. (Sometimes several PVCs slip thru). All my tests show PVCs and Palps benign. Still makes me uncomfortable. Can Menopause exaggerate PVCs, or after 30 years, is my body just rejecting (Propanolol)(Inderal).
Avatar m tn I was diagonosed with mild hypertension 10 years back and was put on mild medication. Since then, i have been suffering from anxiety disorders. I undergo Stress test (Threadmill tests) yearly and so far no issues were detected. I do have an occasional problem with solitary missed beats, but i learnt to live with it as doctor mentioned it was benign. Couple of months back, i felt my heart stop for 2-3 seconds and felt slight dizziness followed by a 'thump'.
2010625 tn?1329372056 Hey guys i am an eighteen who suffered from anxiety/panic attacks. My first experience was when I was eleven or twelve my vision kinda went funny and weird and everything felt off. So I started panicking and told my parent which I went down to the doctors to get prescribed medication ( don't remember the name of medication) but I had it or for a few months and it went away because I was in primary at the time and it kinda got it off my mind.
Avatar n tn Please note that propranolol is a beta blocker and, in addition to quelling anxiety, will lower blood pressure. Generally speaking this medication is not given if the systolic blood pressure falls below 100.
Avatar m tn Hello again , i have some strange issues again,i was on celexa severe years for ocd and anxious disorder, but 2 weeks ago again start panic attacks and body shaking ,i go to doc and he prescrib some tavors for anxiety, and some other pills for tremors bloonis and inderal, and change my main pill from celexa to ladose, I have make all blood tests ecg, thiroid and all was normal, but the fact is that happens again these uncontrolably shakes random times could be anxiety or somethink else cause is
Avatar f tn I am also fixing to start taking Buspar to hopefully get my anxiety symptoms under control. Can anyone tell me if this medication is any good or not. I was also worried about it affecting my birth control, or if it is addictive?
3166043 tn?1514260018 Propanolol (generic for Inderal) is used to treat several things, cluster headaches, high blood pressure, hand tremors and anxiety. When used for anxiety it's usually prescribed to people who just need to ease their anxiety for a few hours since it doesn't last long in your system, like public speakers. I would guess that your doctor has you on it for your BP, since your anxiety is covered with the Valium and Cipralex. But I would call him and ask, you have a right to know.
