Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety medication for kids

anxiety

Avatar f tn I'm planning on going back onto medication for depression and anxiety as it's got much worse since being pregnant. I think after your first trimester any defects people claim pills can cause are massively decreased because your baby is developed much more. Just go through all options with your doctor first and any cons of pills you may take. Ask to see a counsellor as well as that may help as well.
1895346 tn?1321309444 lFor several years I was treated for bipolar with lithium, clonipin, and one antipsycotic after another. I live in a very small area and our county mental health dept. shut down. When I went to our community clinic they took me off of lithium because I was losing my hair and the clonipin because it COULD be misused. and put on serequel which I was told would help all my symptoms. It did not. Now I can't drive, hell I can't even leave my house. I sleep 2 or 3 hours per night and not all at once.
299912 tn?1341626700 It takes time for one and for two, normally we experience some level of anxiety and a little panic. I just know how to handle them now! And also, I do not plan on leaving - i love this stuff and helping others. In fact, my wife tells me all the time that I am going to school for the wrong thing - while I am good at IT and love technology, I should become a psychologist or other mental health counselor (what she says).

Avatar n tn Call the answering service for the surgeon, describe your anxiety and see if they will give you an anti-anxiety medication and perhaps a sleeping pill for Sunday. Good luck.
1694901 tn?1317009564 If you were told you had diabetes, you wouldn't think twice about taking medication for that.....anxiety is no different. Anxiety is robbing you of so much and therapy and/or medication is how we fight back. It's great that we have these choices because for many of us....medication gave us our lives back. You can feel so much better!

Avatar f tn Anxiety can definity cause physical systoms, it usually a sign of stress. I had the pounding headaches and was really stress at work my doctor suggested Lexpro for my Anxiety he said it would help. He also put me on a 1mg of xanax which seemed to help with my Axiety but it was a high dose and I am havig trouble coming off of it, it has nasty withdrawals.
420281 tn?1204651104 I TAKE AMATRIPTYLINE FOR MY IBS AND CILEXA FOR MY ANXIETY. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THE ANSWER TO THIS ALL OVER THE WEB. MY GI SPECIALIST SAYS NO BUT IM NOT SO SURE. DO YOU HAVE SWELLING IN YOUR FEET AND HANDS TO?
Avatar n tn HE HAS NOW GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE HE IS GETTING TIRED OF THE FOOD HE WOULD ALWAYS EAT. HE HAS BEEN SEEING A COUNSELOR FOR HIS ANXIETY TOWARDS FOOD, BUT IT HAS NOT HELPED. WE HAVE TRIED MANY THINGS INCLUDING BRINGING NEW FOODS FOR HIM TON TRY IF HE WANTED TO IN FRONT OF THE COUNSELOR, RATING HIS ANXIETY AND HIS THOUGHTS ON HOW HE FELT IT WOULD TASTE AND HOW IT TASTED. THIS WORKED FOR A WHILE, BUT ONLY IN HER OFFICE.
Avatar f tn Hello My name is Sabeli And i was diagnosed with anxiety attacks.
Avatar n tn For the rest of us who apparently have anxiety for no reason, we are the ones in the leaky canoe. But there is ALWAYS a reason for our anxiety. We just have to work a bit harder to figure out what the root cause of our anxiety is and learn to deal with it. This is usually done through therapy and often a combination of therapy plus medication. I hope I answered your question.
Avatar f tn Has anyone gotten anxiety and depression well pregnant? I started getting anxiety attacks at night and now I get them day and night. I'm starting to get depressed over them. The doctor wants to put me on anxiety/depression medicine but I don't want to take any medicine well pregnant. I also read that it can cause heart problems for the baby. Have you taken medicineand did it affect the baby? Are there natural ways to help with anxiety?
Avatar f tn 'Tingling' almost always means nerve involvement, classically a nerve that is pinched or being damaged some other way. It could be regional, since you mention that you have 'protruding' disks. However, the description of heaviness is maybe more troubling, for there are systemic nervous disorders that can cause this. Nothing you have written sets off alarm bells for me as far as your heart is concerned (well, apart from the weight and smoking, which will sooner or later affect your heart).
114870 tn?1210301946 While she was being treated for the depression I couldn't take it anymore and was treated for depression -- the whole thing was destroying my marriage and my two little kids. My mother died 5 1/2 years ago and 6 months after that I was diagnosed with OVCA IIIC -- thank g-d i was already on antianxiety and antidepressant meds -- it helped me through. Then I went off the meds when I went into remission and didn't go back on when I had my first recurrence.
Avatar f tn Its sounds as if there are many stressors in your life and I know from personal experience that I can always have anxiety follow a stressfull period. Saying that you would commit suicide if it wasnt for your family only fuels how you feel. I agree that your doctor should have suggested some sort of counselling to help you get through those tough times. Remember that life really isnt that bad but it anit no bowl of cherries either.
Avatar f tn It wouldn't be a bad idea maybe to look into medication for a temporary thing to help. If you're against medication then I'd suggest excercising and eating healthier foods. Just don't smoke weed again it's not worth it.
1306047 tn?1333247191 I'm really interested in some real life testimonies of people's experiences with medication for anxiety and perhaps OCD. I'd appreciate some perspectives anyone who care's to elaborate.
Avatar m tn I take Klonopin everyday at night and have been for about a year. It is a benzo and works very well for anxiety. I have not abused it or increased my dose since I started and have had no problems with it. It works well for me, however when I decide to come off I will probably have to titrate down, but that doesn't concern. ALso I can have a drink once a week if I choose to. But not more than that.
Avatar m tn Ive been suffering with anxiety for about 11 years and for the most part dealt with it pretty well but in the last year it has gotten to the point where im convinced im dying. Im due to see a cardioligist on the 27th of feb and im petrified of what he might find. anxiety is ruining my life i cant work or do anything socially anymore and its putting real strain on my relationship with my girlfriend because when i met her i was going through a good spell.
203342 tn?1328740807 Ok, I admit it. I have had problems with anxiety for probably years. Some days it seems worse than others, or I can go a long time and be fine. I tend to be a worrier, also a bit of a perfectionist. I'm not depressed. I feel pretty good about myself, for the most part. I have a deep faith and that helps a lot. In the past I've had a lot of problems with fear.
Avatar n tn One or two drinks per day is probably okay for most people and shouldn't cause excessive anxiety, some studies indicate that light to moderate drinking is actually good for you as long as you are drinking for pleasure and not medicating yourself. Excessive drinking can cause all of the above and more, so it is should be noted that heavy drinking is one of the worst quick-fixes for anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, it is the most common way to self-medicate.
Avatar f tn The doctor gave him medication for the intrusive thoughts...he says now he only gets them occasionally, and they don't control his behavior. I would suggest you talk to your doctor about this and not waste another minute...intrusive thoughts can come in any format...destructive, depressive or just suppressing. God loves you no matter what you've done and your actions don't get you to heaven...
Avatar n tn people with anxiety tend to reach for something tangible to blame their anxiety on, rather than just accept the fact that it really is usually in your head. Celexa completely cured my anxiety... searching for conditions on the internet to further your anxiety is only going to hurt you... As for the arrythmia part of that question, i only know about SVT because its the only one i had, but i know that i was born with it and anxiety doesnt cause it.. it triggers it..
Avatar n tn I understand your point, but all the hype from articles, TV, medical info on the Internet and yes, even from some doctors you can't blame people for getting "obsessive" about their conditions as you call it.
Avatar f tn Anxiety can cause all kinds of feelings, and numbness is certainly one of them. If your doctor is aware of your anxiety and he says it is nothing, then I would try not to worry too much about it. However, if he is NOT aware of your anxiety condition, then I would tell him about it and how it seems to correlate with your being anxious. Just another thougth, have you seen a chiropractor for this?
