Avatar f tn I am a 28 year old female whom lives a mostly healthy lifestyle. I eat well and occasionally exercise. I'm very active with my children. However, I have been battling with Anxiety disorder and panic attacks for about the past 10 years. I take 1.5 mgs of Xanax everyday. Avatar f tn In my opinion it gives you the knowledge to understand and confront your sources of anxiety. I have also taken Zoloft, which also helped, however, remember medication will not 'cure' you of anything. In my experience it was a useful tool while I went to counseling. Keep working through this. I know it is scary and confusing sometimes, but you can and will get through it. Keep us posted!
Avatar m tn I take zoloft for my anxiety. I actually just was put back on it after being off for 2 years. I also take a xanax at night because my anxiety gets real bad then.
Avatar f tn Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Lexapro is used to treat anxiety and major depressive disorder. As you can see Zoloft is used to treat OCD whereas Lesapro is used to treat anxiety, so that is why your doctor recommended trying Zoloft. You can give it a try and if it is ineffective, talk with your doctor about alternatives.
Avatar n tn I have a severe anxiety disorder. I am almost 18 weeks with baby number 4 and have had to stop taking my anxiety meds with each pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Zoloft is a good medication for the treatment of major depression, but like most SSRI's, it can cause significant weight gain.

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with an Anxiety Disorder. I have been on four different medications; the first one was Lexapro, which made me extremely tired, then Cymbalta which made me extremely paranoid, a generic version of Zoloft, I can't remember the name which I gained 15 to 20 pounds before I realized it was the medicine, and the latest one is fluoxetine(? generic Prozac) which doesn't appear to be helping, I'm still anxious (crabby) so I went off that one as well.
Avatar n tn My mother has been suffering from a panic disorder for the past 5 months, primarily experiencing the panic at night. She describes the feeling as a pit in her stomach and fear, but she can not really say what she fears. She just says " I am fearful." She has seen a psychiatrist who gave her zoloft first, but it did not work. Then they gave her xanax, but again this did not work. Then they told her to take more xanax and Klonopin, but she continues to experience the panic.
Avatar n tn Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Zoloft may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide. Avoid drinking alcohol, which can increase some of the side effects of Zoloft, which may include the symptoms you describe. And, yes give it some more time to work.
324184 tn?1308076203 Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Initially, it tends to make us feel like robots, like were in a fog, running on auto-pilot, but after the medication reaches it full effect within your system, you should see these side effects fading, although they may not disappear completely. It's better, however, than suffering on a daily basis.
Avatar f tn Zoloft is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). At 200mg. your at the highest recommended daily dosage. Although Zoloft is not the worst offender, you can probably expect an increase in appetite and weight gain. This, unfortunately is a typical side effect of most SSRI's.
Avatar f tn I actually had switched from Celexa to Zoloft in the past and I actually prefer Zoloft. It really depends on the person. It can take about a month or so for it really to 'kick in.' Initially, whenever I start, increase, decrease, or switch medications it does take some time for the body to adjust. I actually feel a little more on edge for a bit while I start taking it. Also, it is extremely important to remember there is no 'magic pill' to 'cure' you of your anxiety.
Avatar f tn is this a form of ocd along with panic disorder. i am on zoloft now but having some issues with it at the moment.
Avatar n tn Hi, Zoloft belongs to the group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) that are used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It can be taken with Alport's Syndrome as long as the dose is adjusted and you undergo special tests. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn I'm on Zoloft but not for GAD. I have panic disorder although I felt more like it was GAD. its worked wonders for me.
Avatar f tn I can definitely say that in 5 weeks on Zoloft you probably don't feel much different. It takes at least 6 weeks to build up the Zoloft in your system to help combat the depression and anxiety. My question to you is...do you suffer from depression or anxiety or a combination of both? When I first was diagnosed I was diagnosed with depression so they put on on an SSRI and that was that.
624083 tn?1369314263 it takes time. The Zoloft will take 4-6 weeks to really start making a noticeable difference in your anxiety, which is where the "as needed" use of the Ativan in the interim really helps! It will also help with any initial side effects you MAY have with the Zoloft. Some people experience an increase in anxiety, feeling "jittery", insomnia, etc. I did great with it...very little side effects.
Avatar m tn I have panic disorder and mdd and taking 50mg of zoloft for it. I've always wanted to get pregnant and be a mom when the time is right but I never thought that I'd have to consider being pregnant and having babies when I have an anxiety dosorder. I was wondering how big of a chance would my baby have of developing a mental disorder like anxiety, depression or something even worse?
433485 tn?1321813390 They are often caused by anxiety medications themselves, but are also caused by the anxiety too. I have random nausea with my anxiety and often have a loss of appetite, both of which are neither helped nor worsened by my medication. It's also possible that you could have a hint of acid reflux (commonly paired with anxiety) and that is causing some nausea. Sometimes acid reflex helps cause anxiety while anxiety causes acid reflux. Good luck and hang in there!
Avatar f tn I'm currently on Effexor XR 75mg for Social anxiety disorder how ever, I'm thinking of switching over to Zoloft with less side effects.
Avatar f tn I am a 30 year old female that has suffered from depression, anxiety, OCD, and ADHD since childhood. I have been on at least 7 different medications over the years that have and have not worked for various symptoms; however, I can't find one that works for them all. I have been taking 50 mg of Zoloft for about 3 years and it works great for my depression and the best thing I've ever taken for my OCD, but my anxiety is worse than it has ever been.
Avatar f tn D.(Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and Social Phobia and panic attacks. I did the same thing, and it was a mistake.....I believe you should go back to the doctor and see what they say. It may be helpful to try taking the meds at a lower dose than before and/or trying a different medication.
Avatar f tn The drug Klonopin is excellent for panic disorder, you will NOT have another panic attack on that drug. And if you will undergo "Exposure Therapy," you can eventually switch to Valium, a much "happier" drug. The drug Zoloft is a mild drug, it stops depression after about a week or so, and you MUST take an antidepressant if you're on Klonopin, as one of its side effects is depression.
Avatar n tn There are some people with very mild anxiety disorder who can manage anxiety attacks with behavioral therapy. Then again if the symptoms returned in full it sounds like the medications were neccessary and perhaps for more than just anxiety disorder and outside of the range of mild anxiety people basically need medication for life. It would help you to ask them exactly what its for if you weren't specifically informed.
