I have severe anxiety disorder with PTSD and over the years I have tried many non-med therapies, techniques and meds and the only thing that works is xanax.... Last time I was pregnant my doc gave me hydroxyzine but my first time taking them, my face, hands, and tongue went numb and I thought I was about to black out then I went home and was in an induced sleep that felt like anesthesia for 16 hours...
Avatar n tn I have a severe anxiety disorder. I am almost 18 weeks with baby number 4 and have had to stop taking my anxiety meds with each pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I think your pregnancy and all the hormones are responsible for your anxiety. Did you previously have anxiety before your pregnancy? I myself suffer from Anxiety, panic attacks for over 4 years now and planning on starting a family but worried about my Anxiety and being pregnant/being a mother. Are you scared and worried? Maybe you should try talking to someone and take walks, it helps me calm down when I feel sick to my stomach from my Anxiety. I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn I have depression and agoriphobia (a social anxiety disorder) also. I am off all meds. It is not easy but you have to do what is best for baby. I am in a hospital therapy course right now to help. If you ask your doctor, they might be able to suggest some form of therapy to help.
Avatar f tn I don't think I have panic disorder but have suffered from anxiety. I actually found pregnancy quite a relaxing time so please don't assume you will be panicy for your entire pregnancy. The hormones chill some people out. That said, if you do find your symptoms ramping up please talk to a professional. I have found exercise to be the best therapy. Boring to say I know, but very true. There is also an anxiety forum on medhelp that will be full of people who have been pregnant and in your shoes.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm not sure if this is a mood disorder, but this is as close as I can get. Anyway, can anxiety cause fatigue and irritability? Lately, I've been paranoid about pregnancy and and I'm very anxious about it that I couldn't sleep well so can anxiety cause fatigue and irritability? Thanks!

Avatar f tn I suffer from an anxiety disorder and because of the pregnancy I have had to stop taking my meds. I spent most of the day in bed with my heart beating out of my chest. I am going through withdrawals plus just normal anxiety. Any advice on how to calm down? Any and all advice is so greatly appreciated. I know this can't be good for my little one.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if I'm alone in this situation. I have an anxiety disorder were I take benzos. My phsyc doctor is making me stop cold turkey. Is it really safe to withdrawal from meds I've been on for 6 years. ?
Avatar f tn Does anyone have anxiety or panic disorder and feels like it has worsened during pregnancy? Mine has got so bad i cant even drive alone anymore and i hate being by myself. I had this with my first pregnancy as well but just wanted to ask other mothers.
Avatar f tn I have been with anxiety for years...I am 6 weeks pregnant and my anxiety has kicked in again...I do take benadryl because it has a calming affect if not bad...Safe to take during pregnancy....Try it... i think of it as my personal Xanax...My whole family has nerve problems and it took me along time to accept my disorder...So when i did i felt better about myself...Its not my fault having anxiety just happens to some of us...
Avatar n tn With my anxiety I get a lot of physical symptoms, but then I stress out sometimes because I don't know if the symptom I am having is from anxiety or an actual health issues possibly related to pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my son a few years ago I was on a low dose of antidepressant and had no problems with my anxiety and now I wish I could be on something, but I feel its too late to start taking it.
Avatar f tn Im always worried plus have an anxiety disorder so im trying to remain calm, my sistwr sat on my stomach (shes a chubby :)) and wouldnt get up, now days later im worried because i have no symptoms.
Avatar f tn Its hard but I manage. I wasnt diagnosed with the anxiety disorder itself til I was married to my husband over 6 years ago. But when I look back I can see that I had it all along. I get anything from heart flutters, to hot and cold flashes, the shakes, sick to my stomach and the other end, chest pains, insomnia...you name the symptom I have it plus some.....I used to have the attacks everyday and at times it lasted the entire day.
1244180 tn?1325902711 If you have had four or more panic attacks and have spent a month or more in constant fear of another attack, you may have a condition called panic disorder, a type of chronic anxiety disorder. With panic disorder, you may fear having a panic attack so much that you avoid situations where they may occur. You may even be unable to leave your home (agoraphobia), because no place feels safe. When to see a doctor If you have any panic attack symptoms, seek medical help as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me an RX for Welbutrin, but he's an internist, and I don't think he knows much about anxiety disorders, and I keep reading that WB doesn't really work for anxiety. For some weird reason, even with all my anxiety and panic, I love public speaking! Can't drive on the freeway, but can talk for an hour in front of 400 people--this disease is just strange and disconcerting.
Avatar n tn When I first found out about the pregnancy I started doing some research on xanax and pregnancy, and my anxiety was at its highest point ever.....I was so worried about taking this medication during pregnancy that I could not eat or sleep....crying all day long worried about everything. I knew I could not stop the xanax........I can not function without it. Now I am underweight.... ever since the pregnancy...
