Avatar n tn Whether you have generalized anxiety or social anxiety or garden variety anxiety can only be diagnosed by a doctor.........and at the young age of 13, (even tho it's obvious you are mature for your age) your hormones are kicking into high gear and that can sometimes bring on anxiety. I would urge you to talk to your parents about these feelings and I believe a talk with your doctor is in order. You do not have to feel this way.
Avatar f tn s never even seen a doctor to find out. My dad has social anxiety disorder, and my grandma (his mom) was in and out of mental hospitals. My dad is the youngest of 9 but most of his siblings are on some form of mood stabilizer. Mental illnesses can definitely be genetic but it's not guaranteed to pass. Oh and I can tell you first hand, medication only works if you take it the right way everyday.

Avatar m tn It is clear that in almost all instances of anxiety the most prudent approach is to confront the anxiety-provoking situations, not avoid them. If you pull back, do it around some of the weekend socializing, when more of an option is available. In other words, build in opprtunities for him to say 'No' to some occasions, even while he is made to engage in other experiences.
Avatar f tn I have also struggled with depression in the past but not now just the anxiety. I am a little embarassed by this but I constantly worry about stuff like getting sick (especially with stomach ailments), finances, and all kinds of stuff. Sometimes it is so bad that when I eat I feel sick!! It keeps me up all night alot too. I sweat, sometimes get really cold, I shake so bad my fingers cramp up and my heart races. Also I may have a bit of an obsessive disorder but not sure.
Avatar n tn I don't know what you mean by "separation anxiety" or "normal". Separation anxiety is not the same as separation anxiety disorder. It's like comparing being "slightly overweight" with "grossly obese" - one can be fixed with a bit intervention while the other takes drastic measures - likewise with separation anxiety and separation anxiety disorder. Could you describe what is occurring with your child so that we can better help you?
Avatar f tn She does admit to anxiety about grades/taking tests and has a lot of age appropriate questions regarding puberty. She also started a new school. Could general anxiety be causing these symptoms and will they diminish on their own once she gets a better handle on her feelings/changes happening to her? Is this something a lot of kids her age experience in some way? It seems everything online regarding violent thoughts refers to OCD.
980330 tn?1272391336 Its been about 6 weeks since I quit drinking and 4 days since I quit smoking. Is this an anxiety disorder or is this just classic symptoms of my body detoxing itself? Im scared to death and paranoid all the time that Im gonna die or pass out or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW I experienced some of this before I quit my stupid habits but it seems to be 10 times worse now that i have. Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn There are a vast number of symptoms one can attribute to anxiety, but I personally have never heard that itchy skin or scalp tightness are among them. Have you changed your shampoo/conditioner/soap in the past three months? That MIGHT account for the itchiness and tight feeling which I would blame on dryness. That this apparently happens only during sleep is a bit of a mystery to me. Anxiety is a 24/7 disorder. In my humble, non-medical opinion, I don't think you are dealing with anxiety.
Avatar n tn I suffer from anxiety disorder and started taking cipralex (lexapro) low dose 2.5 mg and clonozapram low dose 0.25 mg . I also have high blood pressure because of the anxiety disorder. Any suggestions from people who take medication for anxiety.

689528 tn?1364135841 Oh yes, we love our little ones (even when they've grown and don't seem so little anymore) so much and just want the best of them. I know I would look at my son and think "you are so wonderful!! I want the world to think so too!!" On the issue of self esteem, that is really crucial. My son had so much of an issue with self esteem that we made it our number one focus for a year and a half. I set him up for success.
Avatar n tn You should talk to her pediatrician. You need to find out if she has a severe case of anxiety or some other condition causing the restlessness. I don't know if they do sleep studies on kids or not. She could easily have a food allergy - the symptoms from food allergies can be weird like this.
Avatar f tn Also will suggest that you look up sensory itegration disorder and tactile defensiveness. All kids (and adults for that matter) have sensory issues but it becomes a disorder if a child can not cope. Google it and see what you think. My son is picky about clothing and I take his concerns to heart. Who wants something itching your neck? Find some shirts that work and cut out the tags.
400885 tn?1297698918 I have bipolar and my dad had symptoms of bipolar and is an alcoholic. I have 3 kids and 1 of them is showing some symptoms of it as well but is diagnosed ADHD for now. He does take a mood stabilizer, as do i.
Avatar f tn I am a 54 yr old male and I was diagnosed by a common doctor of having Generalized Anxiety Disorder way back in 1975 so, they put me on Anxiety medications but, the seizures still came along just the same. So, after months of treatments they took me off of Anxiety meds forever and just let me have episode after episode of seizures and just plain suffer.
