Avatar n tn Whether you have generalized anxiety or social anxiety or garden variety anxiety can only be diagnosed by a doctor.........and at the young age of 13, (even tho it's obvious you are mature for your age) your hormones are kicking into high gear and that can sometimes bring on anxiety. I would urge you to talk to your parents about these feelings and I believe a talk with your doctor is in order. You do not have to feel this way. You'll be fine as long as you reach out for the help you need.
Avatar n tn In my experience GAD can give you pretty much any

Avatar n tn Your son's symptoms are typical of children who display Generalized Anxiety Disorder, typified by some obsessive-compulsive symptoms, some phobic symptoms and others. Such conditions are biologically-determined and in part have their root in brain chemistry. Your son is certainly vulnerable to such a condition because of the positive family history. With mental health conditions that are biologically-determined, it is important to address pharmacological treatment.
Avatar f tn It's the mindset I keep so I'm not constantly worrying about what's going on in my body. Last two weeks I've rarely gotten any anxiety symptoms outside of some bad thoughts here and there, but I've now accepted that what's going in my body is just anxiety. I've had all the check ups with blood so I know it can be anything accept the anxiety!. Don't get me wrong i still have small little anxious thoughts, but it's nothing close to what I was use to.

C) The anxiety or phobic avoidance is not better accounted for by another mental disorder, such as Social Phobia (e.g., avoidance limited to social situations because of fear of embarrassment), Specific Phobia (e.g., avoidance limited to a single situation like elevators), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (e.g.
Avatar f tn Read my story on here savygaby. I think your best bet is to get on some meds...at this point in your life and with kids and 2 jobs stressing you out, you need meds to calm you down and prevent any panic attacks so you can go on about your life. I would recommend a beta-blocker combined with a benzo. The type of beta-blocker is specific on the types of symptoms you get. You can try and SSRI antidepressant, but it is not for everyone, yet a benzo. would provide immediate relief.

431685 tn?1324341198 Etc.. Is GAD or panic disorder curable? Can it be treated? Can it be gone in just months instead of years or forever? i'm so sad... I don't even want to be myself anymore.. This is the worst I've felt in such a long time..
299912 tn?1341626700 And I must admit that I am a slight bit embarrassed about this, but not ashamed. I have had generalized anxiety disorder with panic attacks since I was 22 years old. While it was extremely horrible in the beginning, the symptoms have gotten better, but have not gone away. I rarely have panic episodes anymore, unless I am in a specific situation (more on that in a minute). However, I do have the typical overall anxious feeling for most of the day 2 or 3 days a week.
Avatar f tn If this is the case, Effexor XR is a popular SSRI used for menopausal symptoms. Don't know why that one in particular. Also HRT can be all that is needed for some women.
Avatar n tn Hi, I think you are right - in most people with severe anxiety disorders there IS an underlying condition. From what I have learned through research it is a chemical imbalance in the brain that causes hair-trigger anxiety reflexes, so to speak. I have severe anxiety, have had panic attacks since the age of 12 - so do many, many members of my family. Even some folks who have never had a heart palpitation in my family have severe anxiety.
398624 tn?1266273049 Can symptoms of anxiety last 24/7? The only relief I get is taking 1 xanax a day, but as soon as the xanax starts to wear off, I feel the symptoms come right back. Can anxiety get that bad?
Avatar m tn It seems like after my mom died I became super aware of my body. Very VERY anxious (I have anxiety disorder). In March of 2013 I saw a doc to vent about all these worries. She tested me for H-Pylori because of the nausea and wouldn't you know it was positive. So of course with the correlation between H-Py, and gastric cancer I had a good month of high anxiety over that. I've since been rechecked and it's gone.
Avatar n tn I am trying to get rid of Ativan by first increasing Effexor to 225 mg but get too many side effects (even increased anxiety!). Also, skipping a single dose of Ativan results in anxiety crisis. My symptoms do not match with panic attacks. I got the following symptoms this morning. 1- I had the following dream: trying to do cleanup in a large store and always having to start again. 2- I woke up with back pain.
Avatar n tn I'm having. This anxiety has been huge the past 2/3 months but I did have an anxiety/panic attack back in early December 05 that required a trip to the ER. I thought I was having heart issues (sweaty hands, tight chest, dizziness, heart pounding, nausea), but after numerous tests, I was eventually given Xanax. After 20 minutes I did settle down-no other attacks since.

Avatar n tn i was diagnosed with panic/anxiety disorder in 1995 i have had the same symtoms as you did. freaken, losing it. trust me your not gonna die!! i went thru about a year of hell until i met a doctor that helped me!!! what i can tell you is you have to get back at the panic and treat it like your enemy. you must challange it every day. you will win. you must find out as much as you can about it before you can feel better. there is a book out on this problem that i will give you.
Avatar f tn I'm bipolar, I think my mom may be to but she's never even seen a doctor to find out. My dad has social anxiety disorder, and my grandma (his mom) was in and out of mental hospitals. My dad is the youngest of 9 but most of his siblings are on some form of mood stabilizer. Mental illnesses can definitely be genetic but it's not guaranteed to pass. Oh and I can tell you first hand, medication only works if you take it the right way everyday.
Avatar n tn You should talk to her pediatrician. You need to find out if she has a severe case of anxiety or some other condition causing the restlessness. I don't know if they do sleep studies on kids or not. She could easily have a food allergy - the symptoms from food allergies can be weird like this.
Avatar f tn These are common symptoms of panic disorder. I get the same feelings when waiting at the stores. I get very anxious to the point I don't want to leave the house. The feeling of wanting to get out and the fear of fainting in front of people are also common symptoms of panic disorder.I would see your doctor and maybe a therapist. They can teach us coping techniques to help deal with these feelings when they happen.
Avatar f tn Mother has anxiety disorder and my husband has severe anger issues. As i am told from family members the mother would leave fruit bars around the house and sleep until 1pm. Knowing both of them for 4 years they are both at fault and in denial. Mother moved to Texas 2 years ago to get clean and get married. my son went to visit during summer and all hell broke loose. We could not get ahold of anyone for 5 days because mother went to jail for domestic violence fighting over the child.
3060903 tn?1398568723 But the situations that trigger the symptoms of social anxiety disorder can be different. Some people experience anxiety in most social and performance situations, a condition known as generalized social anxiety disorder. For other people with social phobia, anxiety is connected with specific social situations, such as speaking to strangers, eating at restaurants, or going to parties. The most common specific social phobia is fear of public speaking or performing in front of an audience.
Avatar f tn I'm wondering if there are programs that help children develop social skills. I also don't have any doubt that she has some issues with anxiety. That seems to run in my husband's family. Anyway, I appreciate your words. Thanks again.
944604 tn?1283202525 I must agree with silverberg. That has OCD written all over it. It can be treated which is the good news, but it will take professional help. Do a Google search for "symptoms of OCD" I garentee that you will relate to those symptoms.
Avatar n tn About 3 weeks after I delivered my 3rd baby, I had SEVERE and bizarre symptoms, felt like the prozac was NOT working at all, in addition to some insane OCD symptoms that I had NEVER had before---best described as "intrusive thoughts". I was not diagnosed, but am fairly convinced that if I didn't have postpartum psychosis, I was close (had my tubes ties afterward, it was THAT bad).
Avatar n tn SO NOW I WILL SAY THIS MUCH HAS HELPED ME IN MY LIFE TODAY...1)EDUCATING MYSELF ON THE DISORDER; SO I UNDERSTAND WHAT MY BODY IS GOING THROUGH..WHEN YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR BODY; IT HELPS YOUR MIND...IF YOU HAVE CONTROL OF YOUR MIND...YOU THEN CAN CONTROL YOUR BODY. 2)I TAKE A VERY LOW DOSAGE OF XANAX EXTENDED RELIEF. IT SEEMS TO TAKE THE EDGE OFF OF MY NERVES AND HAVE BARELY HAD A PANIC ATTACK IN 2 YEARS. I KNOW XANAX IS ADDICTING AND NOT A PERMANENT SOLUTION, BUT FOR NOW....IT'S A LIFE SAVER.
