Avatar f tn Months later my symptoms developed into a deep depression and elevated anxiety. I then became uninterested in taking part in life simply because I felt so horrible all the time. I think you are very wise to have her evaluated by a Psychiatrist. This may not be depression in her case, but there is a good chance it could be and a good psychiatrist should be able to determine this. As for the treatment of clinical depressive and anxiety dissorder.....
Avatar m tn Looking back to my childhood I did have some behavioural abnormalities, but their association with bipolarism is also, I tend of think, unlikely in retrospect. Behavioural abnormalities in children and adolescents are also as common as air and it seems to me, at this stage of the understanding of my disorder, that to impute bi-polarism may be premature at best and simply incorrect at worst.

Avatar m tn Those whose names I could mention would not be troubled by their inclusion here, not now, not in 2010 after an extensive destigmatization of the disorder in recent years and after so much of my experience and so many of the people concerned are now, what you might call, ancient history. 2.
Avatar m tn These kind of intrusive thoughts are not uncommon in adolescents. And, the good news is that they usually go away on their own... although sometimes not until you are in your 20's. I think that the connection with your own experiences is interesting and may lead to some thoughts about treatment. I would explore two options - 1. EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy. This might work pretty quickly. It is usually offered by psychologists, occasionally psychiatrists.

5624042 tn?1372200166 Many young children also lash out because of low self-esteem, isolation, and a sense of failure and anxiety. Sadness and depression is often linked with anger in young children. Young children also tend to act out of angry defiance to assert independence when they feel unimportant and lacking control over their lives. It is important not to dismiss their transgressions, because childhood-onset anger and aggression is correlated with serious problems later in life.
987762 tn?1331031553 Hi There wonderful people, I cant get my head around why people with MS sx can be confused with someone with a stress disorder or anxiety disorder, so i've been trying to find the connection. Then our son went in for surgery and once again I was there and we did have a fight about how he is not there for me and the kids and so on. IT ended up being pretty bad and yes the Scarlett issue came up. She said that is when she gave him her # and said if you need to talk.
1689981 tn?1305847587 Good golly, (to put it mildly) what kind of doctor or information have you been getting. Lexapro is used to treat anxiety in adults and major depressive disorder in adults and adolescents who are at least 12 years old. Risperidone is used to treat schizophrenia (including adolescent schizophrenia). Neither of these are approved for 4 year old children. What kind of a doctor prescribed this?
Avatar n tn It sounds to me like attachment/anxiety disorder... (Mother bipolar, father probably not there very often)... The poor child... he needs alot of love and comfort. He craves it and doesn't get it from home (assuming). Be patient w/ him... I know it's hard to see him constantly crying for attention & affection... but just remember... his home life is hard. Put yourself in his shoes for one day... how would you behave? LOVE is a very powerful thing... sounds to me like he needs that!

521840 tn?1348844371 As is the case with children who have ADHD, adults with ADHD are at higher risk for anxiety or depression. Because ADHD runs in families, coping with a child who has ADHD may be particularly difficult for a parent with the same disability. The relatively high rates of anxiety and depression are not surprising when you consider the unpleasant consequences of living with the symptoms of ADHD. Dr.
Avatar f tn The symptoms are not better accounted for by another mental disorder (e.g. Mood Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Dissociative Disorder, or a Personality Disorder). if you could apply yourself to monotonous tasks such as organizing, and partake in two jobs (one of which involving instruction, grading the same homework 20 times, etc.) it seems unlikely that your problems are really ADHD-based.
Avatar f tn I decided that it was worth a try after reading about a recent research study with adolescents in pre-psychotic conditions. Many thanks for your comments.
Avatar m tn They are most often seen in adolescents and young adults, but they also can occur in children and the elderly. They are three times more common in females. What do they look like? The seizures most often imitate complex partial or tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures. Family members report episodes in which the patient stiffens and jerks. Doctors rarely witness the actual event, so they are drawn toward the diagnosis of epilepsy.

It is state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. However, stress and the effects of stress is a subject that has not been thoroughly studied. Even so, prescription drugs are readily available for illnesses that are the product of a stressful environment.
Avatar m tn Tic disorders can be seen as occurring along a continuum of least to most severe in terms of disruption and impairment, with transient tic disorder at one end and Tourette's disorder at the other. Tics increase in frequency when a person is under any form of mental or physical stress, even if it is of a positive nature (excitement about an upcoming holiday, for example). Some people's tics are most obvious when the person is in a relaxed situation, such as quietly watching television.
