Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety disorder diet

Avatar m tn I've developed an anxiety disorder, from a big panic attack about a year ago on weed. I never had any anxiety before this and am starting counseling tomorrow at my school. You think there's a chance I can recover from this without any medication? I have been getting lots of head shaking/nervousness/edgyness in social situations. Thanks.
Avatar f tn When my anxiety first appeared it was going through a line at the grocery store. I remember thinking how am I ever going to sign my name? Well I chickened out and fleed the store instead with all my groceries behind me.It scared me to death!! . My son was a little boy back then and said "Mommy, why are you leaving the groceries behind? I couldn't explain why. That's when I went to the doc and he prescribed Xanax for me and it worked. You say Xanax doesn't work for you?

396099 tn?1216258586 Increase your intake of carbohydrates. Carbohydrate-rich meals and snacks are thought to increase the amount of serotonin in your brain, which has a calming effect. Eat frequent small meals during the day. Going too long between meals or skipping meals can result in low blood sugar, which can cause trembling, nervousness and irritability. Also, eat more complex carbohydrates (starches) and fewer simple carbohydrates (sugars).
Avatar f tn I have a question. I was diagnosed years ago with Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Anxiety Attacks and Agoraphobia. I had a discussion tonight with a friend who keeps saying I do it to myself. I have had this along with a diagnosis of ADD as well as Bipolar 2 and then Clinical Depression. I was wondering if Anxiety is really something that can be controlled by the mind or if it really does need to be treated with medication?
Avatar m tn By the way, panic disorder is anxiety times a hundred, so if you have panic disorder, it follows that you are anxious. I also take clonazepam for my disorder, and after a year of exposure therapy and that medicine, I could have gone off it, I do believe. But instead, since I am an older person, we all agreed why not take it. The drug also helps me with other problems I have from a car accident.
Avatar n tn Makes sense - Prozac is SSRI and is used for anxiety disorders. OCD is an anxiety disorder. By the way, I know of several children who have been mis-diagnosed with ADD and/or ADHD when in fact, the correct diagnosis should have been an anxiety disorder. Severe anxiety will mimic behaviours of ADD and ADHD. I wonder if the dose of Prozac is correct or if the medication is correct. Some of the newer SSRI's tend to give better results - you might want to discuss this with your psychiatrist.
Avatar m tn Anti-Anxiety Diet Beth W. Orenstein Good-for-you foods that boost mood are whole foods, many rich in serotonin and B vitamins. If you're struggling with anxiety and stress, consider skipping sugar, caffeine, and alcohol — all substances that can worsen your outlook. Studies have shown that some foods make us feel calmer while other foods can act as stimulants — at least temporarily.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have anxiety or panic disorder and feels like it has worsened during pregnancy? Mine has got so bad i cant even drive alone anymore and i hate being by myself. I had this with my first pregnancy as well but just wanted to ask other mothers.
Avatar f tn In the beginning I went to a psychiatrist who assessed me of having a borderline personality disorder and emotional instability. I took many pills during the treatment such as Dianxit and Cipralex which didn't work on me, then Afeksin, Faverin, Sedoxil and Nodiril. However, I was not getting better. Around December I changed my psyschiatrist and he told me that all I had was Anxiety only.

Need to help or someone that has been through this. I've had generalized anxiety disorder for about 2 years now and gets better then somedays I'm back to square 1!

I've been suffering from anxiety for years, actually had a CT scan 8 months ago because I thought i had a brain tumor! Came back normal.. Should I be concerned about this? or out it off as another anxiety symptom?
Avatar f tn Today is the first of 2 "loading" days that I have to go through. I am supposed to eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING I possibly can for the next 2 days, sounds like a dream come true right? In theory yes, the idea of eating all the forbidden foods excited me, I can eat my weight in cheescake, I dont have to take the skin off of the fried chicken, & I can binge on every forbidden item with no longterm consequence.
Avatar n tn I've been DX'd with panic disorder and general anxiety disorder, with a chronic fear of cardic disease, making me cardio-phobic. With therapy and Klonopin, my panic attacks are under control, however, my chronc anxiety and hypervigilince of heart diesease remains, even though my cardiologist says my heart is fine. I'm also on Toprol and a diuretic for mild HBP, again, caused by my anxious state.
Avatar n tn Your son's symptoms are typical of children who display Generalized Anxiety Disorder, typified by some obsessive-compulsive symptoms, some phobic symptoms and others. Such conditions are biologically-determined and in part have their root in brain chemistry. Your son is certainly vulnerable to such a condition because of the positive family history. With mental health conditions that are biologically-determined, it is important to address pharmacological treatment.
Avatar n tn That was the one test missed previously but a paramedic that was called when symptoms got extreamly bad believes i have an anxiety disorder known as Da Costas Syndrome my previous GP feels it is Generalised Anxiety Disorder. Both mean you suffer symptoms for long periods of time rather than just on occasions. Da Costas syndrome is the most likely of anxiety disorders as this produces a fast heart beat constantly at peak.
1244180 tn?1325902711 If you have had four or more panic attacks and have spent a month or more in constant fear of another attack, you may have a condition called panic disorder, a type of chronic anxiety disorder. With panic disorder, you may fear having a panic attack so much that you avoid situations where they may occur. You may even be unable to leave your home (agoraphobia), because no place feels safe. When to see a doctor If you have any panic attack symptoms, seek medical help as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn One more thing. Consider a change in diet as well. ELIMINATE all sugar from your diet and watch the anxiety go away. It is a proven fact that any refined sugar only makes our anxiety worse. No more soda pop, cake, pie or pasta. Just try this and see. You have nothing to lose and your life to gain.
Avatar n tn By the end of the day , you should have gleened enough information from all of these great folks to start formulating a plan to deal with you anxiety. Here is my two cents... I have suffered from Generalized Anxiety Disorder since 1990 and have been gone through varoius medications and consuling trying to deal with it.
Avatar n tn I think that anxiety equals dizziness but not sure. Is it a bad diet? Will I fall or pass out? What do I do?
Avatar n tn All of this was accompanied by the tight stomach, elevated heartrate, etc. So now I'm thinking this is some kind of anxiety disorder since my thyroid tested normal and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with my heart. It doesn't seem extreme enough to classify as a panic attack. My major problem, apart from the discomfort of these feelings, is that it's causing sleep deprivation. I figure i need to start some counseling but i also wonder if i should consider any medication.
