Avatar n tn I've been DX'd with panic disorder and general anxiety disorder, with a chronic fear of cardic disease, making me cardio-phobic. With therapy and Klonopin, my panic attacks are under control, however, my chronc anxiety and hypervigilince of heart diesease remains, even though my cardiologist says my heart is fine. I'm also on Toprol and a diuretic for mild HBP, again, caused by my anxious state.
Avatar n tn 100 mg. is on the low end of a standard dose of Lamictal. Olimelt is Zyprexa and 10 mg. is a standard dose. That anti-anxiety medication is at a normal dose. If Zyprexa is not found to be helpful then there are other anti-psychotics. Abilify has the least side effects of the ones clinical available. Current anti-psychotics do treat schizophrenia. I would not say they mitigate all the symptoms completely.
Avatar n tn after doing research for a couple of hours, i think this might be my case. i fit the symptoms such as depression, anxiety, obsessive thoughts about whats wrong with me, social anxiety, up and down with relationships, and indecisive. I tend to just go with the flow of what everyone else is doing because i dont really have an opinion. i suffer from pretty low self esteem sometimes, unless im around some of my good friends.

I would really really love to see a study of all people dx with a neurological disorder, just how many were dx with a mental health issue prior to there actual dx? I would expect from the anacdotal respose i've noted just on this MS site, the number would be quite high, you really are not alone with going through this carpola, small comfort i know!
Avatar m tn These antidepressants would also be beneficial in cases of anxiety. 6) I would consider an upper GI series or 24-hr pH study to exclude whether there is a GI disease present. Avatar m tn What you describe sounds like textbook panic attacks...were you ever officially diagnosed with one kind of anxiety disorder? Looks like you've tried a lot of treatment approaches, but I didn't see you mention therapy. Have you tried that? Specifically, CBT is a great form of therapy for people with panic disorder. It's great that you did a lot of research, knowledge is POWER.
1753162 tn?1317281784 I was also diagnosed with PLMD 'periodic limb movement disorder' which in my case my legs move 118 times per hour during sleep. I am on a Cpap now and will soon be switched to a Bipap. My point is that allot of things can happen due to neurological problems. Being properly treated makes a huge difference, less tired, regular sleep patterns and reduction in pain. I am really surprised he didn't order the study. He needs to make sure and you cant without a study.
1318245 tn?1274227973 -intense fatigue not relieved by sleep -muscle twitching (all over body, worse when lying down) -pins and needles/numbness feeling in legs and especially feet -heart palpitations -shortness of breath during mild exercise -weakness -mood instability/personality changes/disinterest -intermittent pelvic/abdominal pain -persistent pressure headache made worse sometimes by bending over or changing with other symptoms -confusion and feelings of derealization -sometimes blurry vision or feeling like o
Avatar f tn We just stopped gradually after just always arguing about insignificant things. He then asked about my job. I said it was stressful but I work in a stressful field of insurance. It was almost as though he was trying so hard to get me to agree that I was terrified of my job or family. If the answer was yes, I would have told him so. The honest answer is that nothing has really happened. My Behcets is manageable so I don't get stressed from that.
Avatar f tn I take 75 mg Effexor XR daily for generalized anxiety disorder, .25 mg xanax as needed. I sure have needed the xanax more since beginning tx 4 days ago, but I am hoping that will level off again. My doc's seem to think that this is fine. ;-) Good luck. Anxiety on top of this is awful. jt/jd- I plan to ask about Ativan. Do you think I can take it along w/ my other stuff on nights (like last!) when I am UP ALL NIGHT with crazy thoughts racing???
Avatar f tn Hi to everyone! I am so happy to have found this forum-just maybe I'm not crazy afterall! I have been experiencing many sign/symptoms of MS since my early 20's (I'm now in my 50's.
Avatar n tn In the past three years it has become apparent to me that Sabrina has some other form of mental disorder, I just couldn't put a name on it. Because the downward spiral kept getting worse, I took Sabrina to a psychiatrist. I emplained to him that I am CONVINCED Sabrina has a mental illness besides ADD, and that I need help in diagnosing it and treating it. Without even saying anything really, he set up an appointment with someone in his office and gave me and Rx. Then he left.
Avatar f tn I have anxiety and depression also. have you been diagnosed with any kind of mental disorder? idk but from my experience, a psychiatrist can help determine what is going on and prescribe you medication that may help. I am taking 50 mg of Zoloft (sertraline) and it has worked very well. its one of the first meds doctors prescribe because of its success rate. but not everything works for everyone. you just have to try. maybe you should try making an appointment with a psychiatrist.

Avatar n tn Our local professionals have had very little success with the treatment of the teenagers involved in the study. In our case, treatment was multi-modal - intervention, constant socialization, therapy and medication. Meds were introduced when we finally "hit the wall" and was making no more progress. In our group, less than one-half of our children require medication. Why are you "masking" this issue from your daughter?
Avatar m tn Hello, I am suffering from an acute case of HIV anxiety. I don't know what to do. To give a background, I was in a completely monogamous relationship for eleven years. A few months ago, unfortunately, my wife and I split up. I went to Thailand for some relaxation and ended up doing something very stupid. I picked up a sex worker and had sex with her. I used a condom for most part, including all penetrative acts. From the next morning onwards, I started suffering from HIV anxiety.
16685927 tn?1450573095 At this point I almost have anxiety over the anxiety haha. Thanks again for reading all of this and I wish everyone the best of luck with life and finding who “YOU” are as a human being. As I sure am struggling with it. One last thing I was wondering is what type of therapy should I seek out PTSD therapy for anxiety, an Anxiety coach, Psychologist? What would benefit me all together?
758077 tn?1282599161 first of all it only happens to people whom have an anxiety/ panic disorder. It has to do with the Serotonin and adrenaline levels in your body... When you are drinking your serotonine levels sky rocket and your adrenaline level dips a lot, so you feel a lot less anxiety when you are drunk depending on how much you drink, alcohol is a depressant/ a downer, that explains that...
585414 tn?1288944902 The case study will potentially be published. My psychopharmocologist has spoken to at least one major researcher on glycine. There is a potential for me to give testimony. There I must stop as the rest is confidential. What did I do today? Finally go into the outside world with the help of Access A Ride. I must do the reassessment soon as everyone does. I got denied at the home attendant hearing and plan to take it to appeal. My mother went with me to see two museums.
Avatar f tn blood pressure skyrocketed, was attributed to anxiety, xanax prescribed. October 2010 - April 2011 very suddenly developed extreme dizziness, nausea, severe upper right abdominal pain, especially after eating anything on October 29th 2010. this would persist for the next several months. the fevers stopped when the abdominal pain started. -bloodwork: normal -ultrasdound upper gi: normal, except for very small cherry hemangioma on liver.
Avatar n tn And as for myself having recovered from schizoaffective disorder with glycine, a phase II antipsychotic in FDA study, I can say that if you do have it you learn to cope with it and there are treatments in development that will promote a full recovery and what is available now will mitigate symptoms to make life bearable. The term is scarier than the reality.
Avatar n tn And, whether antidepressants can make people with anxiety experience more symptoms of anxiety. Or, whether this can be considered mania. Perhaps I should send my question to the doctor's forum. Although, every time I try to submit a question, I get a "the doctor is not accepting any more questions" notice.
Avatar n tn DD is right, take my case for instance. When I relapsed the dotor then wanted me to tx for a YEAR after relapse even though he was very anti extending the first round of tx, the relapse made him extend it a full year after treating for 6 months already. I'd go the distance the first time because if you do reapse, you will end up doing a much longer tx time altogether if you relapse. It's like you have a choice between BAD and WORSE!
Avatar m tn However, if you suffer from nervousness and an uncomfortable feeling around people, you could be suffering from social anxiety disorder, although that is for a mental health provider to determine. If that's the case, many treatments are available, to include, counseling, medication and aversion techniques. Set up an appointment with a counselor who can determine your history and make appropriate recommendations.
Avatar m tn But if you find yourself obsessing over such things then you very well might in that case be developing an anxiety problem, because that's how anxious people operate. Before we suffered chronic anxiety, we either ignored these things or did something about them, but we didn't sit and stew endlessly over them.
Avatar f tn I wish you luck in your journey. I too suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, but am fortunate that mine are quiet enough to be handled through acupuncture, massage and relaxation techniques. Have you tried any of those treatments to see if there is any relief for you?
