Avatar f tn Does anyone else experience vertigo along with anxiety and or panic attacks? I have vertigo all the time since I developed an anxiety disorder.
1556337 tn?1341708611 What i presume to be "Vertigo attacks" started happening again not long after i'd just had my first ear syrying due to my ear canals being so full of wax, it strikes out of the blue even when i'm sat still, its infuriating, nauseating and my depression cracked under the stress because of it all. Although this isnt the first case of it i've ever had its been happening recently and quite often.
Avatar n tn Just to let you know, a feeling of vertigo is very common among us anxiety sufferers. When I first started getting anxiety attacks I felt dizzy a lot, especially when I went upstairs in a restaurant or mall. Like many of us here, I went to the ER a couple of times, was given antivert, but it wasn't vertigo, it was anxiety.
Avatar m tn Some time after (not entirely sure) I started having 1 second vertigo attacks. Feels like the world tips to the left real quick and its over. Some days there are no episodes. Others many. Happens when standing stil. Walking. And even sitting watching TV. Sometimes it feels like my head is buzzing (not audio) and then I get vertigo which jolts my anxiety and just like that, it's over. I'm not sure, but think I automatically clench my teeth and it helps it pass. But not sure.
Avatar f tn When I had bouts of dizziness it was actually vertigo caused by an inner ear disturbance. I do suffer from anxiety and have noticed that when I am especially anxious I get "funny headed" sometimes. I was taking antivert to deal with the vertigo and it helped quite a bit although it made me sleepy.
Avatar f tn I know I have anxiety and panick attacks. I have had small episodes of dizziness and lots of little episodes of lightheadness. My new thing now is extremely long lasting veritgo. Last night I was in the ER because I had Vertigo for over 4 hours straight. Didn't know what was going on but after cat scan and blood test, doc told me in benign something Vertigo. Has anyone else experience this kind of vertigo for long periods of time ? ie.. hours or all day long without letting up?
Avatar f tn s, they gave me beta blockers and betahastimine for my vertigo....still not sure if i have vertigo or if this is a symtom of my anxiety. A combination of these tablets r making me feel sick and have horrendous heartburn. I have constant fears that i have a deadly disease, panic about not seeing the future ie:-my daughter grow up/getting married/grankids/xmas's.
6530778 tn?1456883801 The fact that you posted here in the anxiety forum shows that you either know or suspect you have abnormal levels of anxiety. Your vertigo/dizziness/lightheadedness is almost certainly the result of that anxiety. Try not to hyperfocus on your symptoms. Go after the anxiety and you'll likely take care of the vertigo as well. However, it wouldn't hurt to ask for a referral to a neurologist. He/she may have some ways to help alleviate the symptoms.
5140021 tn?1364185966 Assuming you have vertigo and it's not a symptom of anxiety attacks, which it very often is, there are gentler methods of treating it than an antidepressant you have to take all the time and that is hard to stop taking. Ginger is a natural remedy that helps many with this problem, and there are drugs such as antivert you only need to take as needed. The question here is, why do you have vertigo?
Avatar n tn I went to Seattle to visit my friends, and to go sight seeing. Anyways I went to this restaurant called Newport (seafood),they were serving steamed clams. Anyways to make a long story short I ate them and the next day my temperature jumped to 103.5,I was dehydrated in about 12 hours, and I had really bad vertigo. So I took the flight back home and went straight to the doctor,he told me I most likely got Vibrio (Stomach infection from clams).
Avatar m tn Now, a VA doctors comes out to my house and tells me that he now thinks that I have Vertigo and Movement Vertigo which is causing my Anxiety situation. Can I be treated for vertigo and Tinnitus after all these years with success or is it too later for me now that 30 yrs have gone by without treatment of any kind? What can the neurologist and hearing doctors do for me now at this late stage in life and time?
Avatar n tn But once you start having anxiety attacks, even if they are caused by something that can be found, you can become used to having them, expect to have them, and so you can still end up with a chronic anxiety problem.
Avatar f tn Big goal for someone with health anxiety is to stay off google. :>) Vertigo may be caused by something like a brain tumor, but that's really rare. Many get it from other things such as Eustachian tube dysfunction. I had this for a long period of time. Little tube in your ear can close in on itself. Sometimes ear wax can do it. Lack of sleep. YES! Anxiety and mental health CAN impact it. Medications you take. Dehydration. All of these can cause it.
1441177 tn?1294224618 He gave a high dose 24mg Betahistine to me, to make up with my vertigo attacks. He also advised some vestibular exercises which he said might help. But then, still, almost weekly attacks of this unbalance/dizziness. And now, since im nearing to be hopeless, these are my questions: Can hypertension itself cause dizzy spells and vertigo attacks? Even though I have done inner ear screening, is it safe to say that this ear disorder really caused this dizzy/unbalanced feeling?
Avatar f tn s why panic attacks make you dizzy and why chronic dizziness due to an inner ear disorder often causes anxiety, panic, agoraphobia etc. as secondary effects if the dizziness goes on for a long time. Don't worry about vomiting. Just eat and don't worry! Even when I'm dizzy, my stomach feels better when I eat a bit.
4250330 tn?1388621179 You could get tested for maybe low blood sugar or vertigo? My mom also suffers from horrible anxiety attacks and is dizzy all the time where she will randomly grab onto me to keep from falling. When she went to the doct they ran blood tests and everything showed up normal, they prescribed her both anxiety and vertigo medication but being pregnant im not sure if they can give you something to help. There are some helpful books on anxiety to help get it under control.
Avatar f tn I know that it can be anxiety, because I have bad dizziness followed by panic attacks. I did, however, get thorough tests to rule out everything else. How long have they been this severe?
Avatar n tn i find it hard to beleive that anxiety would give me vertigo and a dizzy feeling for 3 months, if it was anxiety, then almost everybody i know would have the same symptoms i have. ps. my last panic attack was 2 and a half months ago. thanks anyway!!
957507 tn?1251594207 When I shopped at Meijers, the jolts would get extreme and I would be bracing myself because I felt as though I couldn’t find my foundation. Then anxiety attacks would hit me strong. I went to doctor after doctor, general practitioner, eye doctor, ent (had all the balance and hearing tests), neurologist (what a let down), I had brain mri, blood labs, neck catscan, eng, ekg and everything came back normal. The doctors thought it might be anxiety.
Avatar n tn They also said I was lucky to have been diagnosed early as many people search for help for a long time and their panic attacks and anxiety as well as their balance get worse and as they stop doing stuff and going places (i used to get it real bad in shops, grocery store isles, also driving, anywhere there is lots of visual stimuli). Stopping going places then makes it impossible for the balance system to recover etc, vicious circle.
Avatar n tn I have had anxiety attacks for years. My attacks are mostly dizziness....I have also grown up with vertigo. It normally comes on at night and by taking a half of meclizine it prevents it. I have these sudden dizziness attacks where I loos my balance instantly...and one time I fell. I never pass out...but I come very close. I am on Zoloft and nortriptyline for anxiety. I have been feeling better over the past few weeks, but last night I was out with my husband and bam dizziness hit me...
Avatar n tn Those do sound like classic anxiety attacks. I know. I've had it for years now. Lightheadedness, it all sounds familiar. Not saying that's what you have, but it sure rang a bell with me. Hoping you are better soon.
Avatar m tn I have experienced little bouts of dizziness and off balance feelings but again, no full blown vertigo attacks or anxiety/panic attacks. I am also wondering if Chiari can redevelop after many years. I recently seen an ENT who order an MRI but according to the report, nothing was wrong. I am not sure if he actually looked at the actual disk of my scans. I had been told years ago I had merenire's disease. This ENT did not think I had merenire's.
