Avatar f tn I have had anxiety ever since I was 17. I blew it off until I started to get panic attacks when I was about 21. I am 23 now and I have tried Paxil, Paxil CR, Zoloft, and celexa. The paxil seemed to stem the anxiety but it made me feel very detached from myself. The zoloft was crazy. I literally made me crazy. It made my anxiety so bad that I wanted to die. I literally cried from the pain. The celexa did nothing for me. Anyway, the point of this post is to show everybody is different.

Avatar m tn Had I read online about how common anxiety attacks after a night of drinking are, maybe I could have started my road to recovery sooner, and maybe some of you can. Anyways, I am a 25-year old college student (receiving my 2nd BA tomorrow actually :D) who had never experienced anything related to anxiety or panic attacks ever in my life. I've always been a laid back, easy-going individual.

Is it something I should be concerened about? Its freaking me out!! I know its pretty quiet here on the weekends so any help I can get is GREATLY appreciated!!
1095514 tn?1257263913 Identifying and dealing with these feelings is crucial in the effort to prevent full blown anxiety attacks, panic attacks or phobic episodes. You need to continue to practice your relaxation techniques and continue to confront your fears. Once you’ve solved your problem it requires that you maintain your new calm perspective. Think of it like weight loss. Once you lose those 50 pounds you can ease up a bit on the intense exercise and diet regimen you used to achieve that loss.
Avatar f tn The anxiety would be racing heart before meetings or public speaking and then turned into anxiety at times to eat . I couldn’t sit in a restaurant or I would start panicking . Never mind eating food that was not happening . I had to focus on swollening and that is not the way to eat . Anyways the anxiety has subsided a bit with positive thinking and just moving on with my day .
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with anxiety my junior yr of college. I had couple panic attacks in one week (it was during finals). I could not go to class, was avoiding public places due to the fear of panic attacks. I was put on clonopin and lexapro. I slept a lot, the meds helped; but i still did not feel like normal me. 758077 tn?1282599161 Xanax is addictive and very harmful if you abuse it but, in the event of severe anxiety and panic attacks it is still a medication prescribed to HELP relieve your anxiety, whatever the cause, be it alcohol hangover or personal stress, that's what I am most conserned with NOT the amount of peoples drinking. I leave it up to the individual and personal responsibility to manage their drinking...

Avatar n tn I believe I have been experiencing severe panic attacks/ anxiety as a result of a combination of antibiotics I was on for an UTI. I have stopped the antibiotics, abou 36 hours ago, and am wondering how long before they are out of my system? and when they are out, will the anxiety go away? My GP prescribed a mild anti-anxiety drug and it has helped but not completely.. My heart is pounding and anytime I think of leaving the house I get sick to my stomach...
Avatar n tn Hello, Your symptoms are suggestive of agoraphobia or panic attacks. I sincerely advise you to consult a psychiatrist and discuss this with him.Treatment of agoraphobia includes graduated exposure therapy combined with cognitive therapy and sometimes anti-anxiety or antidepressant medications.
Avatar m tn I went to my doctor for help with anxiety and panic attacks and was prescribed Trazodone... I've been on it for a week now and I've only been sleeping 2 to maybe 5 hours a night. I use to sleep a good 7 or 8 hours. Is this normal? I know they sometimes prescribe it FOR sleep, but I'm actually sleeping LESS. Also, does trazodone even help with panic attacks? I've read that it only helps with general anxiety disorder, not panic attacks... I need something for both.
Avatar f tn I don't do good in social situations either it can be one on one, large groups, and public speaking. It's getting to the point where it is really affecting my everyday life. 1322152 tn?1282511146 SSRI's are very good not only for depression but for social phobia, panic attacks, general anxiety and OCD as well as several other anxiety disorders. Depending on the person they can take anything from a couple of weeks to a month or so to take full effect but for most people once they have settled into the system a big improvement is seen. Im sure the doctor will choose a suitable SSRI for you seeing as you are still young.

Avatar n tn its been almost a week now and i've seen 3 different doctors, even went to the ER two days in a row! they all said it was anxiety. my grandmom has battled panic attacks for her whole life basically. but its impossible for me to believe that anxiety can do this to a person physically. i seriously feel as though I'm dying. and sometimes its worse than others so i take half of my .50 xanex. it seems to get better but the pressure in my head never seems to completely go away.
Avatar f tn They all seem to have husbands, careers, children, and what do I have to show for all these years? Ended up dropping out of college because I would not take public speaking, which is a huge fear of mine. My plan was to go to a community college for a couple years then transfer to a four year school. Everything was well and I was making good grades. Put off the public speaking class until the last semester and needless to say, I'm 3 classes shy of having an associate's degree.
Avatar n tn Is there any way I can tell if anxiety is precipitating the palps or if the palps are precipitating the anxiety? If the anxiety is getting worse I would imagine that it is probably the main component here. 3. Would more testing be in order and if so, which tests would be helpful? I probably wouldn't pursue too much more testing if your previous test were normal. 4. Is it better to medicate for the anxiety or the cardiac symptoms?
Avatar f tn If someone has tremors from anxiety attacks that start and end with the anxiety attacks that's known. If someone has movements that started with a medication and get better as it wears off during the day that's standard extra pyramidal side effects (temporary movement disorders). People are correct. Klonopin will help with that and anxiety. But if the movements are tic like or emerged suddenly and don't go away speak to your psychiatrist right away and they'll do a movement disorders test.
