Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety attacks natural treatments

anxiety

Avatar f tn For most people it starts with the aura you describe, then proceeds to an awful headache. There are natural treatments for this and medication as well. They often occur following a bout of anxiety, because they are caused by constriction of the blood vessels in the extremities and then a lot of blood flowing to the head as the vessels open. Meditation has been known to prevent them; it worked for me pretty much. Regular exercise helps as well.
1348686 tn?1310657843 I am hoping that someone can help me. I have been suffering from anxiety and panic attacks for 9 years now. The last 8 days have been horrible. My anxiety is off the charts and everyday I have been having several really bad panic attacks. I am trying to find an alternative to medication to help deal with the anxiety and attacks. I just started taking a multi vitamin and I love chamomile tea but I am so afraid to drink the tea if i took the vitamin in fear of interactions. Crazy????
Avatar f tn I haven't experienced anxiety due to surgical menopause, but I have experienced a lot of anxiety. The Lexapro is a great step; I've been on several different medications at different times and have been able to wean off them when okay. You might look into information on meditation. The data is REALLY impressive for how helpful it is - and it has a cumulative effect.
Avatar f tn hello there i experienced a few anxiety attacks a few days ago and now i keep having this worrying feeling. i bought valerian root capsules and i was wondering if i can take then during the day as well. or for example i did take one today but didnt do much good, can i take tonight also?how many? can anyone help?
651235 tn?1224885959 And for myself I have found guided meditation useful for anxiety and panic attacks. If you have some information that would be great but more importantly if you have anxiety disorder or had panic attacks and found some means to overcome them that's a specific non medicinal therapeutic technique the information would be very valid to all of us.
Avatar n tn They both very much approve the way i view this things, and hopefully, i will be able to control my anxiety and my panic attacks in a more natural and healthy way, without getting dependencies on drugs and without side effects that this drugs eventually have on my body. Good luck to you too in this difficult struggle!
Avatar m tn Drugs are only necessary for chronic problems that don't respond to therapy or natural treatments, as drugs are serious business with serious problems. In your case, taking the clonazepam is generally done regularly, which means you get addicted to it as benzos of all types are addictive drugs, and it's very hard to quit taking. Taking it as needed doesn't work as well because it takes a while to take effect, though that effect lasts longer, theoretically.
Avatar f tn hot flashes and night sweats, dizziness and vertigo, haven't had a period for almost three months and before that they were all over the map, anxiety and depression, panic attacks, constant gas and bloating in upper stomach, food intolerances, adrenal surges (I do have adrenal fatigue that had gotten way worse since going into Perimenopause), heart palps, tachycardia, POTS/Dysautonomia (that only started after the other Peri symptoms started), reflux, weight gain, rapid aging, extreme fatigue,
2111850 tn?1334369185 You have to understand, if you would take care of your anxiety and panik attacks in the very begging, there is a very big chance that you would not suffer from any fear and all that things that can be damaging to your life. I suggest that you deal with this asap before it gets worst. There are a lot of great doctors who can really help you, not only with medication, and with therapy. You will get your life back. I went threw it 9 years ago.
Avatar m tn People suffer with anxiety in varying degrees and for a variety of reasons. Everyone gets 'anxious' at times in their lives, it's natural. Anxiety disorder is different, it's much more severe then just getting 'nervous' and impacts our bodies in many different ways. You are experiencing some of the very common physical effects that anxiety causes. Most of us here on the forum know these symptoms very well.
398624 tn?1266273049 One more thing. Walking is a natural remedy to help the release of anxiety. I go several times a day and it helps a lot. I mean, that is if your comfortable leaving your house, lol. For some reason, I'm usually able to walk around my neighborhood without much problem, of course, my husband is with me. : ) Take care honey......
Avatar f tn i am almost always depressed, but the severity seems to come and go, also social anxiety disorder, which has led to panic attacks in public (how embarrassing...) which has in turn developed into agoraphobia. i am also a recovering addict so i am still trying to sort through all of this and trying to figure out what is caused from my fibro and what is caused from my previous addiction...not an easy task. my current daily meds as of now are 60 mgs of cymbalta, .
Avatar f tn What have some of you with Fibromyalgia found as the best treatments for you? I have been doing some research, and heard the pros and cons of a lot of different things. I already take and anti-depressant and an anti-anxiety med for a previous condition, so, I got that.... But anyone on Lyrica? Herbal remedies? NSAIDS? Etc? What have you noticed as the pros/cons? THANKS SO MUCH!!
1255530 tn?1269871219 Hello there, yes of course you have many natural options in complementary to your traditional treatments. A vitamin B complex could help with mood issues as deficiencies in certain B vitamins are related to mood disorders eg depression. Omega-3 will be helpful at stabilizing your mood and it's a good natural cognitive enhancer. Valerian root can be taken occasionally for panic attack or occasional insomnia (watch out for addiction because it's like a benzodiazepine (valium, xanax, etc).
Avatar n tn Going to bed at night used to be a very comforting and relaxing experience for me. Over the past year, however, night time is accompanied by bouts of panic and sleeplessness. The best way I can describe it is I just get near sleep (usually after about 30 minutes in bed) when out of the blue my whole body starts to tingle, my breathing and heart rate speeds up, and my thoughts start racing. It's like the feeling you would get if somebody came up behind you and scared you...
Avatar n tn If anyone finds the Green Tomato online that is not quack, let me know. Also let me know if you have found any other successful clinical trials or non-invasive treatments. I prefer to have my body in "virginal" state from radical meds, until the clinical trials stop insisting on interferons and the like.
808293 tn?1238605783 My whole life I watched my father and older brother deal with anxiety issues and panic attacks... I was always afraid that someday that it would happen to me, but was grateful that I was free of such traumas... The biggest fear my whole life, worse than thoughts of death, were thoughts of losing my mental capabilities...for several years now I have worked in a neighborhood with a lot of mentally ill people, and the tragedy of their situation really affected me...
Avatar m tn Or maybe that my thoughts need an off switch. Constant anxiety/depression broken only by full blown panic attacks 75% of the time for no reason. And I can’t seem to explain it properly or maybe it is one of those things you can’t understand unless you experience it. The anxiety keeps my in my room the depression makes me almost content being stuck alone in my room…it is like a love triangle I don’t want to be involved in. Every time I eat I feel nauseous.
Avatar n tn I'm glad you found someone to link up with. That's what this forum is all abt. I do want to say, your condition is slightly different, so if Dr. offers an anxiety med, don't ask for Paxil instead. Paxil is a SSRI, anti-depressant/panic attacks. They have many side affects & must be monitored. A low-dose anxiety-med is cheap & can be stopped easy. Anti-depressants must be titrated down or sudden stop can cause seizure. Trust the Dr. though.
Avatar f tn i have been diagnosed to have mixed anxiety & depression and undergoining behavioral therapy , my problem is that i excessivly think of death i cant stop this thinking , all the time imagine some thing bad will happen to me or one of my family ( eg : i ill die or my mother will die) , after that i start to cry i dont no what to do, it disrubt me alot i cant stop it is this normal presentation of anxiety or i have something alse???
Avatar f tn Previous psychologists have recommended Xanax but she wants to take the natural way, as before she defeated the anxiety with out drugs Before these recent panic attacks she was on natural hormones because she was having irregular periods and painful ones. Her hormones are unbalanced. Doctors have recommended that she go on birth control but she doesn't want the side effects that come with it.
Avatar m tn While being on the medicine the anxiety, rage attacks, sleeping all got increasingly better and he got back to the man I once knew and loved. Although the last month I noticed the color draining from him, anxiety kicking back up and irrational behavior starting. I called in for a blood test and his levels are up back up to 10!! even though his synthroid Medicine was raised! I'm very concerned since this affects him so negatively. Does anyone else face horrible symptoms like these??
Avatar f tn I am suffering from EXTREME peri-menopausal symptoms including panic attacks, and heart palpatations, as well as night sweats that happen so often I haven't had a good nights sleep in well over a year. I have been to the gynocoligist, internist, endocrinoligist. The internist put me on effexor about 6 months ago, but as I have reported to him, I see no difference. I have healthy eating habits, and I exercise on a regular basis, and have always been EXTREMELY healthy.
Avatar f tn I always advise people to be careful with 'natural' remedies for their anxiety. Quite often these 'natural' remedies are much more dangerous and not as effective as perscription medications....let us know how everything goes!

Avatar n tn Does anyone with Anxiety find themselves overbreathing? It starts out slowly and then gains momentum and then I am nearing a panic attack. If I try to calm down, sometimes that helps but does anyone have this problem and what do you do?
Avatar n tn Basically learning to cope up to the point that it won't ever take over my life again is what I would consider as cured. Anxiety is a natural feeling that everyone has and needs so it would be stupid to get rid of it. If I was afraid of drowning and did nothing to change that, I would always keep that fear all my life.
Avatar n tn I have some experience with gall bladder problems and natural treatments. I am certain that when I eat foods that disagree with my gall bladder, my heart speeds up. My doctor says that eggs, sugar, and any fatty foods will upset the gall bladder. I was surprised at the eggs and sugar, but I've found that if I eat anything with even a tiny amount of egg (like a scone or cookie), I get the heart racing. If I stay off those foods I don't get it. The heart racing does promote anxiety.
1688502 tn?1305699762 My doctor explained to me that if I was reluctant to start on the best course of treatment for my problem, than obviously I wasn't interested down deep in stopping my anxiety and panic attacks. Think about it... You've been to your doctor, and you've had medication thrown at you, which hopefully will help you soon.
