antihistamine

Avatar m tn I experienced congestion, cough, and laryngitis a day or two after exposure to large amounts of hay and agricultural lime. Taking this into consideration, I'm a bit skeptical as to whether or not it was a cold or just an alergic reaction. The symptoms have drastically decreased. My nose is still half-way stuffy, and I'm still spitting up white phlegm, but it's more of an annoyance now than anything else. Some people I've talked to think that it's post-nasal drip.
Avatar n tn Have you discussed with your husband? Does he suffer from nasal congestion? I have night time, usually only when lying down, congestion that causes me to suffer a very sore dry mouth from breathing through my mouth. I don't believe I make any unusual noises, my wife has not complained other then when I snore - which is a rare event. For starters you might try with your husband taking an antihistamine at bed time to see if anything changes. If it does congestion may be the problem.
Avatar f tn What it feels like is the chronic post nasal drip I have has caused congestion in my upper chest. However, the weird part is, I really have no cough, and the occasional cough has never brought anything up. In the past, if my chest begins to feel this way, it is followed by the painful cough and coughing stuff up. I would not call what I have sometimes as pain, it feels more like irritation. When I am active, as well as when I drink a lot of water, it seems to be much better.

Avatar n tn Sometimes, when there is nasal congestion, ear symptoms such as ear fullness, pain and even ringing may also be observed. This is caused by the presence of the eustachian tube that connects the nose to the ear. Allergic reactions may also manifest with eye, skin and nasal symptoms. Drinking plenty of fluids and taking decongestants and antihistamine medications may help provide relief. If this is due to a viral infection, this usually resolve after a few days of rest and symptomatic relief.

Avatar f tn Hello, The most common way to get rid of a stuffy nose is to use an over-the-counter (OTC) decongestant combined with an anti-inflammatory analgesic (pain reliever) like Ibuprofen. However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. This is because they can only provide short-term relief for catarrh, and using them for any longer can make your symptoms worse.. Avoid indigestible, spicy, foods and meats. Eat simply of wholesome food.
14287919 tn?1434470794 Hi, I'm a fifteen year old female, average BMI (19.6), active and (usually) healthy. I was tested recently for sleep apnea because I don't sleep well. I wake up tired, and my ability to concentrate or think is impaired. My usual bed-time is around 9:30 - 10:00 p.m, and I fall asleep past 12. My sleep study reports that while I DON'T have OSA, I only have a sleep efficiency of 70% and it took me about 250 minutes to fall asleep.
Avatar f tn I first take the antihistamine and the nasal de-congestant wait for about an hour, until they start working and then gargle with the hot salt and water. This has really helped. Mind you, that I have been a really healthy adult male for many years, rarely sick, thank the good LORD, headaches a rareity. My next endevour is to check the fillings in my teeth.

Avatar n tn It started out as a sore throat, and then it turned into a lot of nasal congestion. I have been taking Mucinex D to clear the congestion, and that has worked well. My problem now is that I have a very wet sounding cough that seems to flare up in the morning when I am getting ready for work and then again in the evening right before bed. I am coughing up mucus, although it is all clear (and has been throughout the entire cold). It just concerns me that the cough is hanging around for so long.

Avatar f tn Your airways react to certain triggers like strong odors. Some people get nasal congestion with this and will pretreat with a nasal antihistamine before exposure. You should discus this with your doctor the next time you are in his/her office. It sounds like you have found a coping technique, but you may need more should your reactions become more severe or harder to get out of. An inhaler may be a good idea to carry. I hope that helps you some. Take care.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with non allergic rhinitis and the sneezing and congestion happens mostly when I am ready for bed, or comes on suddenly during the night. At times I wake up because I am about to sneeze. I had a CAT scan, and my ENT doctor said my sinuses were inflamed. He gave me a 5 day steriod treatment and said he could only do it a couple times a year. I felt great for 3 weeks, now it's back to being as is was prior to the treatment.
461838 tn?1255790216 I would ask your doc before taking med, including herbal med. There is a relatively new nonsteroidal nasal spray now (essentially an antihistamine). Try some of the non medication measures for the headaches: warm bath (really helps with sinus congestion), massage, stretching excercises, yoga. Wishing you well.
