antihistamine

Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar n tn Many doctors do require their patients to go off H2 blockers (a specific type of antihistamine. H2 blockers inclue Zantac (ranitidine) and Pepcid. I cannot recall the chemical in Pepcid at the moment. Another questionable med is Elavil (amitriptyline). It is an antidepressant but has some antihistamine qualities. Every doctor is different on these meds. Many don't want to cause issues with going off of these meds.
Avatar f tn Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
Avatar n tn It can be even easier than that. You could alway ask your doc to try free samples of Nasal Sprays for rhinitis, sinusitis. If it works than you know what it is. Then you need to figure out why it happens like if it is allergy or sinusitis and treat it more specifically if you want to. Once way to rule in allergy is antihistamine like Benedryl. If you take an antihistamine and it stops it's more likely rhinitis.
Avatar f tn Look at all the ingredients in the supplement causing the problem and eliminate them one by one.

Avatar m tn I am still experiencing an allergic reaction to intradermal allergy skin testing. I have joint pain in my shoulder on the arm where allergy testing occurred. My skin is warm to the touch over the area tested and the skin marks where injections were done are larger though less raised than after the initial test. What should I do? I have applied a prescription steroid cream. I have taken my normal antihistamine. I have taken benadryl on top of it.
Avatar n tn Hey there, I am 19 years old. I am allergic to cats, dogs (and pretty much all furred animals), dust, dust mites, feathers, aerosol sprays, perfumes, any small particle stuff like that. I also get wheezy when I exercize. I heard that some hidden symptoms of allergies can be depression, diarehha, frequent urination and other symptoms I have been experiencing. I don't know whether I should treat those things separately or try to figure out if it's allergies first.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, your history is suggestive of that you are having drug allergy to morphine. Some patients have reported to have itching (in more than 10%), rash and development of hives. The possibilities for allergy are due to presence of Phenanthrene in opioids. You can even develop hypersensitivity reactions to other phenanthrene derivative opioid agonists (codeine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, levorphanol, oxycodone, oxymorphone).
Avatar n tn There are many possible allergen including latex allergy, as mentioned above. To identify the underlying cause, allergy testing may be done. Avatar n tn My wife had what we think was a food allergy about 24hrs ago, after eating melon and then exercising, characterized by severe hives all over her body. She has lots of grass/pollen allergies and has sometimes gotten a raspy voice and mild red spots after eating melon before. She took some OTC antihistamines but couldn't sleep, and the hives were really bad this morning, so we went to the hospital, where they gave her an IV with antihistamine and cortisone. The Dr.
Avatar f tn If you ever experience heart or breathing problems then you will need to seek medical help. Antihistamine will reduce the allergy in most cases and can save lives. Many doctors will recommend carrying an Eppi injector just in case the allergy ever becomes life threatening as affecting your heart or breathing. Other wise Benadryl should do the trick. Food allergies can first start and last up to days after eating.
