Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine cream hives

antihistamine

Avatar f tn Also, I figured out I cannot even take some pills like Pepcid for heartburn because they cause hives all over me and are very itchy hives. The hives today were not bad itchy thankfully. Truthfully, I do not what drugs I can take since I can have either no reaction, hives or swelling. Has anyone else had a problem like this? Any suggestions on how to deal with my allergies? I have many allergies but things have been fairly bearable until pollen season. Thanks.
Avatar f tn This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process. In the past, she has had hives that appeared to relate to her taking Tylenol or Advil but because she had such a bad headache about 7 days ago, she decided to risk it and take an Advil knowing that she might have a slight reaction but because her headache was so bad, she was willing to risk it.
Avatar n tn What you need to do is to stop using anything that causes an allergic reaction and to apply antihistamine cream or ointment to the affected parts. Ask your pharmacist for advice in choosing an over-the-counter preparation.
Avatar f tn You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. Your mother should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. If the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a dermatologist as topical and oral steroids may be needed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn ve never seen anything like it.. Put me on anti biotic, cream , painkillers and antihistamine tablets... anyone any idea what this is?
Avatar f tn In certain patient’s there has been relation between use of certain medicines or allergies, environmental factors employed in the occurrence of hives. I think eye cream or omnicef could be the cause for developing hives in your case. I would recommend that you consult a allergist for further work up and confirmation of the cause for this. Best.

No matter the temperature or, be it salt water or non. She had mono. when she was in her 3rd yr.
Avatar f tn Im really scared cause i have never in my life had hives until halloween 2008. At first i thought it was just a rash but then it started going all over my body. My ankles, knees, and elbows were really swollen. They are still kind of itchy, burn, and hurt. I went to the doctor he gave me some pills called xyzal. He told me to take one a day but i been taking them for two days and i feel a little better and some has gone away but my hands and feet got very swollen and hurtful.
Avatar f tn The antihistamine I take is non drowsy and at the first sign of hives I will take 60mg (lowest dose) in the morning and at night until gone and this has worked well for me. I suggest you start taking an antihistamine and get yr labs done.
Avatar n tn However her dermatologist says she has exema and the hives. Gave her protopic cream and zyrtec 5mg to take once a day. However this problem has been going on for well over a year. Now when she puts her cream on, it doesn't giver her relief, it actually has been hurting her (burning). It's so hard to get into the dermatologist when she has these outbreaks. I don't know what else to do for her.
Avatar m tn Hello, Without examination,I cannot confirm a diagnosis but the symptoms that you have described are suggestive of hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known.
Avatar f tn The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks).Take Over the counter antihistaminics like benadryl or Claritin.Sometimes double conventional doses of non-sedating antihistamines such as Cetirizine(zyrcet), Loratadine(Claritin) and Fexofenadine may be needed to get symptom relief. Sedating antihistamines such as Chlorphenamine(benadryl) or Hydroxyzine are used at night to get urticaria control.
Avatar f tn Hello, Itchy rash on arms and legs can be due to many causes like dermatitis, lice, scabies and hives, eczema, lichen simplex chronicus, stasis dermatitis of legs or viral infections. You can apply an anti-itch cream or lotion to the affected area. Oral antihistamine, such as Benadryl can also be used. You should take a comfortably cool bath and wear smooth-textured cotton clothing. Covering the affected area with bandages and dressings can help protect the skin and prevent scratching.

Avatar n tn I also notice that when I go out at night, the next morning the hives appear to get worse and the only thing that is helpful is an antihistamine pill. Can someone please offer any suggestions or anything to help me?
Avatar f tn Every thing went well for the first eight weeks then I started breaking out in hives. The incision site is fine but the hives are every where. Was so bad I went to emergency ward. They told me to take reactine it was better than benedryl. It helped quite a lot. Also gave me an oral steroid. Every thing cleared up for aprox.one week but now they are back. I am sure it is from the stitches dissolving.

Avatar m tn sounds like hives to me. Neither psoriasis or eczema would itch all over. Hives forms bumps and itches all over. Stress and allergic reactions cause them. Look for a pic online. Dermatologist label everything as eczema. If you go to one, go to a university. I spent over a year being tortured by medications given to me by so called doctors. Four said it was eczema four were 100% wrong. When I finally went to a real doctor, he fixed the problem in a week!
Avatar n tn Arms, trunk, not on my neck or face. Wherever I scratch, it raised bumps like hives. I also have a tingling feeling accompanying the itch, like my skin is crawling. It's driving me crazy! Especially when the hair just starts to grow on my legs, it's almost impossible to not scratch and this is making it much worse. Antibacterial soap isn't helping. I've tried all the over the counter creams, and they only provide very mild, temporary relief.
Avatar n tn It went away and then I started getting Hives- I still get them and was diagnosed with Chronic Uticaria. I also have sever leg pain which lasts for a week and half and then it goes away. It happens once a month. When I get the leg pain, My stomach hurts with it and I feel like fainting this also lasts for a short while. They tested me for auto-immune, arthritis, White Blood count. Everything is normal. Does anyone have any idea what I could be experiencing?
