antihistamine

Avatar f tn Administer antihistamine such as diphenhydramine orally at a dose of 1/2 mg per pound of body weight (e.g., a 10 pound cat would get 5 mg of liquid diphenhydramine). BUT FIRST CONSULT YOUR VET. DON'T ASSUME THIS DOSIS WILL FIT YOUR CAT. Step 4a: If an assistant is available, have him place both hands around the cat's shoulders and gently but firmly push the cat down on the table so it cannot use its front paws to scratch.
539780 tn?1213943976 Hi, The familiar symptoms of bee and wasp stings include pain, redness, swelling, and itchiness in the area of the sting. Multiple stings can have much more severe consequences, such as anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction that occurs in hypersensitive persons. Emergency medical kits containing self-administrable epinephrine to counter anaphylactic shock are available for allergic people and should be carried by them at all times.
Avatar f tn And it`s only getting bigger. Whats happening? What should i do? And the cream that my mom put on it makes it 2 times bigger.
Avatar f tn My forehead was very painful and swollen, but after a lot benedryl and prednisone the symptoms on my head resolved in 3 days. However, 7 hours post bee sting I woke up with hives on my legs, butt, back and arms. There were no new foods, medications, or detergents. I did bring a new foster dog into the household 3 weeks prior to the hives but have since then found her a home. I have now had hives every night for 3 weeks, mostly at night but ocassionally during the day.
Avatar n tn Hi, Most bee and wasp stings are not serious. A minor sting can be painful and sometimes cause a little swelling, redness, burning, or itching at the site of the sting. Hornets, wasps, yellow jackets, and ants do not leave their stingers, but bees can. If any part of the stinger remains, scrape it out immediately with your fingernail or the edge of a credit card. Do not push on the stinger, or you may squeeze more poison into the wound.
Avatar n tn Hi, I was bitten by a wasp yesterday at about 12 noon, I immediately put ice on the area and took some benedryl. I was weak all day yesterday and today when i woke up my eye is almost swollen shut. I read about the sting and I can't say I have had a tetnus shot in over a year. I'd like to know what to do about the swelling i try ice and heat but its only gotten worse! I am not as tierd as yesterday but more nauseated.
Avatar n tn About a week and a half ago, I got stung by a bee, resulting in massive swelling of my big toe. The swelling has since gone down, but the top of my toe now has a large patch of red, wrinkly skin. It feels very "leathery" as well. It is not on the site of the bee sting (I got stung on the bottom of my toe), so I'm pretty sure it has more to do with the swelling than the sting. Do you think this will go away on its own? Or should I be using some sort of lotion or cream?
Avatar f tn So I stepped on a bee and got a sting -_- will it harm my baby?
Avatar n tn What is it doing now? It could possibly be a bee sting or a spider bite. I had a spider bite that felt like a wasp stung me, it even became swollen and was sensitive to the touch, was reddened and hot. I had to take benadryl and put anti-itch cream on it. It felt like it was on fire if my arm touched anything and itched like crazy also.
Avatar f tn Hello, I started feeling an odd stinging sensation on the side of my foot (little toe side). I thought maybe it was a bee sting but nothing was there. The stinging would come and go so I took a closer look and felt a hard lump the size of a dime right on the bone of my foot. I don't know if it has been there all along or is something new. IT is bone hard and does not move. I have feet that are boney with bunions so I didn't know if this was just another aspect of that.
Avatar f tn It seems it was some kind of rare delayed reaction to the bee sting. I thought maybe something had crawled across my face and had a buffet when I was sleeping since it was so long after the sting. When I called the Dr. he thought it was pink eye, until they saw it and the hives around the swollen area. They gave me a round of steroids, but I have no tolerance for most prescription drugs for some reason.
Avatar f tn I have allergies to bee stings and last week I got stung by one. First time I years! I made a paste with baking soda and water and let the dry up on the sting, tool benadryl immediately after it happened. The stinger was still in so we took it out before we did anything. The nurse said it's okay ands long as your reaction isn't super super terrible and send you into anaphylaxis shock or get infected. To take benadryl as needed or til your symptoms go away. And to soak it in cool water.
2095738 tn?1339825243 So there's this wasp that's been hanging around me all day and I've never been stung to know if I'm allergic but I know my aunt is. If this thing decides to sting me before my bf gets home and I am allergic will it affect my babies? Or would it depend upon how allergic I am to the sting? I'm hiding in my room now lol but idk what to do if I got stung n had a reaction to it..
524243 tn?1212309439 I have a quick question (and I want to see if anyone else has this problem): I am really, really frustrated because for the last month or so, I have been having a "bee sting" sensation all over my body. It started out just around my back, and it has spread everywhere!!! Argh! I had no idea that this was a possible symptom of MS, but when I contacted my Neuro, she said that it was common (that was news to me!). She put me on Neurontin and said that it would help.
506903 tn?1211847133 He told me has been doing Bee Sting therapy, and said it is helping him more then the meds did. He said 20 stings a day. YIKES. He said I was more then welcome to comeover and discuss it further or give it a try. I don't know if I could do it. Soif you know anything about this please fill me in.
Avatar m tn I'm hoping someone on this forum knows a lot more than I do about this subject! For question number one, I would talk to a qualified allergist. Your pharmacist may have some answers as well. Question number 2 is still out of the scope of my "practice," but if a person who suffers from anaphylaxis is on a benzo, IMHO, the use of that med will NOT decrease the likelyhood of an anyaphylatic response.
Avatar m tn You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. You can also apply a mild steroid cream like dermacort. If still the symptoms do not improve then pls get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
3791484 tn?1348234566 The first step in controlling hives is to identify the cause, if possible. If the source of the problem can be identified and avoided , try to avoid exposure to it in the future. A mild case of hives often disappears on its own after a few hours. A longer-lasting case should respond to the manufacturer's recommended dosage of an over-the-counter oral antihistamine. If your hives don't disappear in a few days, you should see a doctor.
Avatar m tn I am geeting a pain in my neck/shoulder area that feels like a bee sting the pain comes and goes and feels like it getting worse
Avatar f tn im on day 6 ct from percs/hydro and just wanted to say how much reading this site has helped me, hearing that everyone else knew what it felt like and made it through was really what gave me hope. for the first few days my back pain was intolerable so i began bee sting therapy again, something i did before the opiates, and honestly the pain from 10 bee stings a day was better than the back pain, this still did nothing for the WD's which were agony.
