I have had poison ivy for almost two weeks. Monday since it had spread to my legs from my arms, I went to a doctor. He gave me a shot, some methylprednisol, and other pills for the itch. I'm am waking up at night itching. Also, I'm treating the itch with calamine lotion and other creams for itch. How long does it usually take for the itch to stop. Thanks.
I had a rash head to toe which was diagnosed as poison ivy, cortisone shot, 2 steroid packs and antihistamine regiment and still barely any change in skin rash, none on scalp.
Definite diagnosis of poison ivy reaction is through direct clinical examiantion and identification of the plant. Cleaning the affected area thoroughly with water, antihistamine medications and calamine lotion may help provide relief. ve had an area on my left thigh that has been itching me like crazy, I thought it was just poison ivy or poison oak, but the more I thought about it the less likely that it was that due to my lack of being in the outdoors and what not.
The area in question is red, bumpy, warm, and blotchy. I wear boxer briefs and its located in the area right above where the bottom of them hits. I'd say it's expanded slightly in width, but not in height.
First I notices red spot on my scrotum after having sex. They came and went for a while ( few months) during that period I didn't have sex. Then I met a new girl while giving oral sex she notice a bump on the head of my penis. This was about a week after we first had sex. After a few more weeks I got more. I became itchy similar to a poison ivy itch but not as constant. I itch on my inner thighs, butt, armpits, stomach.
About a week ago I developed some itchy red spots on my left side just under my breast area. They itched mildly for about 5 days (nothing as intense as poison ivy) and Itch-X stopped the itching. Now they appear to be healing but have become painful. There is one larger spot on the left side of my back that started itching after the rest stopped. I've never had anything like this and am wondering what it might be. Thank you.
I appreciate the advice, the poison ivy and edema are very much improved, and if there is more swelling I will keep all of that in mind. What we found to work the best, as in stop the PI from healing in 1 area and only spreading to other areas (just moving from one area to another) was to bathe in dish soap then blow dry the area after the shower. He improved within 2 days.

How are you? The rash and itching from poison ivy usually get better gradually and go away completely in two to three weeks. Treatment should be continued at least this long because the rash can come back if medicines are stopped too soon. Take your medications as prescribed by your doctor and avoid exposure to the plant to prevent recurrences. If symptoms persists, it is best that you inform your doctor for proper management. yet, as I write this I have the predictable, itchy, bubbly rash in two small but very annoying patches. These poison filled bubbles match every regular picture of poison ivy and nothing else. Its NOT a heat rash or hives or bug bites. After 25 years I know what poison ivy looks like as its the same damn thing that has previously been confirmed by more than one doctor.
It seems like others have the same complaint. Has anyone ever had it as long as me?
I had the white dots too. They progressed to fill with liquid and puss slightly. I got antihistamine and they retreated a little but have not fully gone. The corner of my lips have cracked and broken open. The first moment I noticed them was on a very hot night. I was not exposed to sunlight, but I was to heat for about 2 days. I am writing this a week after the occurance. The itch has spread to my genitals. I have not been exposed to poison ivy or the like.
to add to what i wrote, the rash is itcy, has a yellow/orange oil, and flakes up and scabs just like poison ivy would. i really think its poison ivy, but i really dont know why it would keep showing up. it breaks out, goes away after a week, then i dont see it for 2 weeks, then comes back. i was worried it was in my bed sheets or something, but im also worried i have contracted an std from oral sex. please help!
I have recently had unprotected sex with a new partner, last Sunday and Monday (Same partner.). I have never had this problem before, although I currently do have poison oak or poison ivy which I think may be the cause. She has been tested for STD's before and is on birth control. They do not burn in any way, only itch at times I suppose, haven't really noticed too much. Please inform me.
You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.Application of topical steroids like dermacort will also help.
If the symptoms become severe,then oral steroids are needed for whih prescription of a dermatologist is required.

I started getting little red bumps on my private area after my partner told me he wore a condom because he had poison ivy they be gain to get sore, spread, and form little light yellowish blisters, swelled me up and was very painful to go pee, they have speard to my anal area, buttocks, ears, nose, troat, and now they started around mouth area but had blisters there be gain to Hardin to were I could just pick off what is this and what do I need to do?
