antihistamine

Avatar f tn My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl. Big mistake since I woke up broke out in bad hives. I had to wait to get home to take benadryl since I am not 100% certain that Benadryl does not give me hives.
Avatar f tn This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process. In the past, she has had hives that appeared to relate to her taking Tylenol or Advil but because she had such a bad headache about 7 days ago, she decided to risk it and take an Advil knowing that she might have a slight reaction but because her headache was so bad, she was willing to risk it.
Avatar n tn Hi, just wondering if anybody experienced hives on the entire body after total hysterectomy. Even after having been injected with antihistamine and stopping the prescribed antibiotic on the 5th day instead of 7 days as prescribed by the doctor, the rashes continues. Are these rashes a result of a low immune system caused by the operation (total hysterectomy) or by something else? Also, when I scratch my skin will show some yellow bruises. Is this something to be alarmed of?
Avatar f tn my cousin has been taking hydrocodone and has had severe hives for 7 weeks now. she has quit taking the hydrocodone 6-7 weeks ago but the hives are still coming (every single day) and in different places on her body. is this an allergic reaction to the hydrocodone? and can it take this long for the hives to go away?
Avatar f tn Behold, she says it could absolutely be related to solumedrol and gave me Rx strrength antihistamine for night and OTC antihistamine for day (got to stay awake at work). She also said, and this is the part I don't like, if this approach doesn't work, she may have to put me on oral prednisone and back the steroids out of my system.
Avatar f tn The antihistamine I take is non drowsy and at the first sign of hives I will take 60mg (lowest dose) in the morning and at night until gone and this has worked well for me. I suggest you start taking an antihistamine and get yr labs done.

Avatar f tn Hello I am a young female, I usually have normal to oily skin, but just yesterday I woke up and noticed bumps all along my forehead, very small like goosebumps almost. Yet, noticeable. I have larger bumps on my neck but not near big enough to be hives. They're very itchy and are hard to notice unless touched. Please help! Currently I'm using antihistamine and aloe Vera gel to relive it.
Avatar f tn Now I take antihistamine everyday in the evening but still I get the rashes. Some nights the shapes are round and other nights, it’s like lines. Are these hives or eczema? Why do I get it at night? Is it due to food?
960785 tn?1248645096 Hydroxyzine ie atarax is a antihistamine and mild sedative too and may be preffered in your case as a night dose, with calamine application externally.
Avatar f tn Hello there, It seems that you are suffering from some allergies or some form of vasculitis. It can be from an allergic reaction to something. The other possibility is hives. Hives are commonly the result of illness, food allergies, medications, insect bites, extreme temperatures and hypersensitivities to certain irritants. Take over-the-counter antihistamine like hydroxyzine for relief in symptoms. The rash definitely needs to be looked at and monitored by a physician.

Avatar n tn I have had a problem with hives all over my body for a month or more now. My hands start to itch first, then the bottom of my feet, then my scalp even the inside of my mouth itches sometimes. I'm a hairdresser and suspect it could be the chemicals and shampoos and products. Or could this be a food allergy? I take a wonderful antihistamine called xyzal. It works really well but when it wears off I'm in trouble.

Avatar f tn Okay, here is my story,I am 28 and I have just been diagnosed with chronic hives and swelling, I am allergic to myself.....FUN! After 8 months of constant hives, lip swelling, eye swelling and finger swelling, i went to an allergist and got prescribed Xyzal. It worked great for the first 2 weeks and i was over joyed to have my life back! But the past few days, some hives have started to come back. I have been taking benadryl along with the xyzal as needed.
Avatar m tn Hi, You should continue with the antihistamine medications and review with your skin specialist about how you are doing. You should try to keep the area dry and clean. Try some powder to absorb the sweat. Use a medicated sunscreen lotion - preferably one prescribed by a skin specialist and re apply it every 2 hrs. Apply calamine lotion at the sites. Wash the sites with fresh water several times daily. Let us know if you have any doubts and keep us posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can give some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. Also apply a topical steroid cream but only after consulting a dermatologist as it is not without side effects. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn This really sounds like hives to me. My husband gets these from allergies and they look like lots of mosquito bites or something on his skin. If you have trouble with allergies that's probably why. If not, you might get tested for allergies. Either way, you should see a doctor if any rash persists.
Avatar n tn Hello, Your symptoms are suggestive of hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications. The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks).
Avatar m tn Somehow the hives had dissapeared (I might've spell that wrong) but I guess it randomly popped up. But thank you so much, I am sure that could've worked.
Avatar f tn Now I am at the computer my legs started with little bumps 5-6mm diameter, itchy and slightly red and then I scratch involuntarily and then after 10-15 min more and more start to grow covering a 5" area in average, usually following a symmetrical pattern more or less. Then little by little it becomes very itchy, the bumps start to group converting into huge swollen areas -3-4" red, hot, burning sensation that last for 30min or so and then start to decrease an disappear.
Avatar m tn I havent had heartburn, but the hives and iching all over but mainly on the back of my neck and head and ears. My face also swelled up bad. My lips were so swollen they hurt.
