Common Questions and Answers about Antihistamine and dizziness

Avatar m tn Hi, welcome to the forum, allegra is associated with dizziness, drowsiness and other CNS symptoms in 2-3% cases. You may be having CNS adverse effects of this drug. In such cases alternative anti histaminics like cetirizine, levo citirizine, loratidine can be taken against prescription. In addition H2 receptor blockers, Glucocorticoids can be added depending upon the severity. Urticaria is seen secondary to exposure to allergen and mediated by IgE antibodies.
Avatar f tn P Have you considered getting compression stockings and only wearing them on days when the dizziness is bad? They're the only thing that has made a noticable difference for me, and even then, they just decrease it.

Avatar n tn I have had severe headaches that result in dizziness and pain for weeks at a time. This has happened to me recently and I have gone through multiple tests all coming out normal. My Doctor has given me Meclizine and Medication for the pain. Is there anything I should be looking for while on these medications?

Avatar m tn It's kinda weird but i never had allergies before so she prescripted me with antihistamine for 4 weeks. The symptoms slightly relieved but the pressure and diziness is still there. I was kinda thinking that this may be permanent. My main concern right now is this diziness. It makes me really nauseous and it's affecting my work. Any advice or experiences about this?
Avatar n tn My doctor has sent me to a heart doctor and had a echo and 24 hour holter done. I will get the results on Thursday. There are days I am so sick to my stomach that I do actually throw up. I do take meticlizine for my dizziness. It is a horrible feeling. My doctor did bloodwork on me and that was all fine.I just dont know what it could be from. Any suggestions????
Avatar f tn However, a month later the fatigue and dizziness returned and the symptoms have continued to come and go since that time. I recently saw a new doctor who performed more blood tests and who ordered an MRI. The only abnormal thing with my blood work was an elevated white blood cell count. (I should mention that my sinuses/ears/throat have been bothering me recently, so it’s possible that the elevated WBC is unrelated to my other symptoms.
Avatar n tn I do suffer from allergies but the antihistamine and decongestant has had no affect on dizziness and funny heart feelings. Thanks, Terri. (I'm 44 and my blood pressure is normal sitting and standing, not overweight).
Avatar n tn in March b/c of dizziness and fatigue. These symptoms continued tho and do not get any better. For four months, major complaint is severe brain fog and dizziness. Internist suggested autoimmune dysfunction and tilt-table test. Evidence of mold in house. This feels like something in my brain, but I do have occasional chest pains and shortness of breath, with anxiety. Suggestions?
324184 tn?1308079803 While there were some side effects I get more from taking an over the counter antihistamine. So, if it is working and the side effects are minimal, in my opinion I would stay on it. However, if they become intolerable , always seek the advice of your prescribing doctor....keep us posted!
Avatar f tn I am experiencing dizziness, nausea, ears fill like they are s topped up, sweating and headaches and when i try to walk i walk into walls, i can't walk in a straight line. This has been going on now for about 6 months or more/ I will be sitting around and all of a sudden out of no wear I will get really lightheaded, start sweating and feel really sick to the point of sometimes vomiting. My ears fill like they are going to bust, it's so much pressure.
Avatar n tn Ask the doctor to prescribe you Allegra, or non-drowsy anti-histamine. I can't give you the medical terminology, but it has something to do with "drying up" the area in the head (inner ear) that causes this. I have been hospitalized with vertigo before (until I knew what the problem was). Dizziness, nausea, hyperventilating etc... the whole thing. Taking Allegra during the "vertigo season" (late summer) totally prevents them from coming on at all.
Avatar m tn For the second consecutive year, at almost precisely the same time in the calendar year, I am experiencing identical symptoms of general dizziness. Last year I visited my GP and he suggested it may be a consequence of the amount I was working and the inconsistent eating patterns that resulted. Because it was not debilitating, or accompanied by any other worrying symptoms (ie.
Avatar n tn Prescibe a very strong antibiotic and antihistamine. Cleared up and rarely have bouts of dizziness. I do beleive what dr said because also son and mother had this same problem off and on until received antibiotics. If you believe it is bp related I hope you find something that helps.
579469 tn?1311709150 I made to day 8 off my opiate addiction (4-8 5/500 hydros per day for 2 years) and my RLS and morning dizziness seem to be getting worse. No real problems day 1 through 4, but day 5, 6, 7......WHAM. Why is this hitting me so hard now? I had a really hard time getting out of bed this morning, the dizziness was so bad. Is this normal? I'm experiencing dizziness now as I type this. Has anyone else experienced these 'delayed' symptoms? How long will this last?
Avatar n tn In May I began to have dizzy spells which coincided with a sore throat and earache, which cleared up on their own. However, dizziness and fatigue continued for several weeks. The dizziness resembled being carsick, with lightheadedness and occasional moments of nausea and feeling faint (but I never passed out). I had a CAT scan and blood work twice, and so far no diagnosis for the dizziness/fatigue.

Avatar n tn I bet its only seasonal, so just take some over the counter decongestant/antihistamine and it should be ok. And go see a Dr. to determine what you're allergic to.
Avatar m tn General practioner diagnosed me with a sinus infection and filled eustacian tubes. Gave me rounds of anitbiotics and steriods. Dizziness and sinus infection continued, but doc said tubes were cleared. Sent me to an ENT. He ordered an MRI, CT and ENG. They showed a sinus infection and deviated septum (no tumors)but he doesn't feel they are causing the dizziness. So he is sending me to a neurologist. I'm scared to death at what he will find. I'm a 44 yr.
784382 tn?1376934640 feb 19th 2010 i woke up dizzy and didnt know why, it was my sister wedding and i thought maybe just nerves. i took sea sick meds (wedding was on a yacht) and it helped a little bit. after a few weeks it didnt go away and it scared me so much that i didnt want to go anywhere thinking i would get dizzy. I went to my GP and she looked and said i looked fine, called for blood work and told me to go to a neurologist. blood work came back NORMAL.
Avatar n tn I am 34 and had this dizziness for about 6 weeks now and I came to realize today, that it usually happens when I'm almost done eating. It would happen as a child when eating sausage, especiall from McDonald's. Most recently, I felt dizziness on back to back weeks and when looking up (at taller people or screens). I came to realize that it happens almost as I'm done eating. Feel faint.
362362 tn?1222875112 10 I decided to take some ginkoba, I thought it would work out for my memory, the first day I used it, I guess I was fine, but then a couple days later, I felt constant dizziness, and the pain in my back and the sensations I've felt are still here. The dizziness stayed with me, everytime I would lay down or when I get up and walk or just basically look around, I'd get dizzy, I didn't understand why. I went to the ER on Dec.
1601412 tn?1297637242 I have been suffering for 5 months with humming, plugged ears, and dizziness. Had 4 different antibiotics, 2 doses of prednisone, referral to ENT, and then had myringotomy done. All of these with no relief! ENT sent me to an ear specialist in another town and after going through my medical history he feels it all has to do with my thyroid!? This all sounds weird to me, has anyone else had ear problems related to hypothyroid?
1048927 tn?1271837611 ask if your doctor will prescribe you diclectin for the nausea. it is a mix of vitamin b6 and an antihistamine, which has been used for over 50 yrs here in canada. i've been on it for the past month and it has really helped with my nausea, though it does make you drowsy when you first start taking it. also, it is pretty expensive, but very worth it from my perspective. i highly recommend it. good luck!
Avatar n tn It is constantly popping and on three different occasions my inner ear will bleed for a few minutes and stop. I went back to the doctor and he said that maybe the dizziness and headaches are due to depression or anxiety so I tried Zoloft. I went to an ENT doctor and he diagnosed me with a certain type of Migraine and prescribed me Maxalt. Well, $50 for 6 pills isn't great and it doesn't work. I have had an CAT Scan and nothing showed up.
Avatar f tn The cause of headaches, dizziness, vertigo and short term memory loss along with heart symptoms and missed periods in the absence of a brain pathology could be severe anemia. If your MRI is normal, anemia could be the most probable cause. Please consult a physician and get routine investigations done. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar n tn Please what can be done to terminate this dizziness once and for all, apparently no one has an answer. Please answer and help others. I had this condition shortly after head injury in dec.2011. I am suffering because it affects my work.
