6402846 tn?1391063748 I've had thrush, diarrhea, and systemic yeast. Nystatin is a good start, but if it's really entrenched, that won't be enough. Diflucan really helped me but it's rough on the liver so you can only take it for a short time. I have found Solar-Ray's Yeast Cleanse to be incredibly helpful. If I miss 2 days of it, I feel and see the yeast coming back.
Avatar m tn My guess would be that the real problem is the antibiotics and the diarrhea they caused. You could also have a yeast overgrowth causing the constipation as well. Antibiotics kill off the good bacteria (as well as the bad) which protect the body against things like yeast becoming overgrown in our gut. This is only a possibility, I am not saying outright that you have an overgrowth, its just possible. Another possibility is just the fact that your gut is trying to balance itself again.
Avatar m tn Well sounds like from the tests they did u still didn't get help. The reason I asked was cause the test I'm talking about would be to test if u might have too much iron. I had similar symptoms a lot of my life but more so when i was younger. I went undiognosed and have had many other problems go undiagnosed. Look up hemochromatosis which is very common only it was once thought it was very rare so screening for it is not standard.
Avatar f tn So, antibiotics are notorious for causing loose stools and diarrhea. Antibiotics kill of the natural flora we have (good bacteria along with the bad bacteria) which is why this happens. Yep, it can cause a yeast infection also and bacterial vaginosis too. What I'd do is get the UTI meds done, go back to the doctor and get swabbed to know exactly what it is. Yeast is itchy! BV smells bad but doesn't usually itch. A UTI is tested for so there is no doubt you had that.
Avatar m tn Now having read the rest of your question, having symptoms due to localized yeast infections is a common problem in people who have taken broad spectrum antibiotics, and the tetracycline group (doxycycline and others) are among the most common offenders. And azithromycin could do it as well. Localized irritation/rash is the most common symptom, typically involving the anus, vaginal area in women, or the mouth. But some cases may cause transient diarrhea.
Avatar m tn For 6 days, they pumped approximately 40 bags of IV antibiotics, fluids, and minerals (potassium, magnesium, etc.) into me. When discharged, I continued another 2 weeks of Cipro and 2 rounds of Fluconazole for yeast infection. Since ending the last round of pills 5 days ago, my bowel movements have begun to return to normal after having antibiotic-induced diarrhea for a month.
Avatar m tn are normally decomposing waste material from our skin, but the antibiotics kill them, so then yeast takes over. Yeast is not killed by antibiotics like bacteria is. Only antifungals kill yeast. So antibiotics commonly cause yeast infections, and this smegma problem you're having would make sense as a symptom of yeast infection. It should get better when you're done taking the antibiotics. Avoid milk and cream for a few weeks, they make it hard to clear yeast infections.
Avatar n tn Just to be sure but nowhere in there did you mention being treated for candida? More antibiotics would only make it worse. Candida is yeast. Everyone, men and women, can get yeast infections or thrush. It is unlikely you got HIV with protected sex. Its a very low possibility, but you need significant fluid transfer. If you have not been treated, you may benefit from taking something like flucanazole (diflucan) for several days.
745152 tn?1233144003 In the abscence of your normal bacterial flora due to long periods on antibiotics, candida yeast that is naturally present in low levels can flourish and cause all types of problems in the upper and lower GI tract. Many people who suffer from this are not immuno supresses. Carbohydrate consumption is something that causes a flare as well because it is essentially food for the yeast.
Avatar n tn Hi in Jan 09 I got C Diff after taking antibiotics (didnt do a swab test) for my throat, my symptoms included abdominal pain, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, and vomited once. This lasted about 3 days until I went to the hospital and told me I got C Diff and was given another antibiotic, the pains and bloody diarrhea stopped. Since then I havent been feeling the same...
Avatar f tn t know if I have a UTI or Yeast Infection, or both, or did the antibiotics cause a yeast infection. I want to know what you think it is and what my next step should be. Should I go to the first urologist who insists everything is fine? Should I go to the second urologist who seemed more willing to help but probably cannot see me for an other week or two? Should I go to the gyno? Should I buy at home UTI and yeast test strips? Should I go to the ER?
285848 tn?1219092313 It gave me the most horrible diarrhea..so now thats where I am at. Just over the pills and diarrhea...onto a yeast infection! WILL IT EVER END?! Wow that was long...but I needed to get it out before I lost my mind.
Avatar m tn A few years ago I had a bacterial infection which I had to take a lot of antibiotics for. I ended up developing a yeast infection that has been affecting my gut and mouth health. About 3 months ago I went finished a long course of anti fungal medication which for the most part cleared up all the bad yeast but I still have digestion issues and there is still a grayish/white pasty growth on my tongue. It is notably different from when there was an over growth of yeast in my system.
Avatar m tn he gave me an antibiotic just in case something was pos. then i had an ear infection and took another round of antibiotics. i developed some sores in the throat and tonsils but have had no fever (in fact it has been low around 97) no rash, diarrhea, joint pain. i have had mild swollen lymph nodes in my neck but i also have been poking at them. i had a test done at week 4 and it came back neg. as well, but the dr gave me a prescription for levoquin.
Avatar n tn Now my boyfriend has prostatitis—likely linked to the yeast. He informed me that he ex-wife used to get yeast infections all the time. I never had a yeast problem before, despite ejaculatory sex and b.c. pills with my ex-fiancé. Could my new boyfriend have been carrying yeast from his ex and passing to me? Or is his prostatitis all my fault? P.S. his diet is terrible, all sugar, carbs and meat—not a veggie or fruit in sight—and he has chronic diarrhea.
7112191 tn?1389290072 The prednazone makes him crazy(and he is already really hyper), and the antibiotics give him diarrhea. I feel so bad for him. The only time he is at peace is when he is asleep. Does anyone have any advice on what else I could do for him. It breaks my heart.
Avatar m tn I don't like your comment about diarrhea that 'smells really bad.' IIt raises some red flags in my mind. Antibiotics can wipe out deleterious bacteria, but they can also kill off the good bacteria that we need to keep things 'in line' in our digestive tracts. Call your doc and ask to have a stool test done to check for any post-antibiotic-related-issues. To be safe, you may want to ask to have the stool test include one for C. difficile.
Avatar n tn hello, It is due to antibiotics, i suffered 3 weekss of diarrhea from taking a cure of antibiotics and 3 months of stomach and abdominal pains. it is due to antibiotics 100%. the way i made it stopped was drinking a lot of fruit juice with active bacteria. You do the same plus alot of youghurt with active bacteria, not the one with fruits and sugar. hope you get better soon, it wants patience, but i am sure you will soon let it behind.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics can cause diarrhea in and of themselves as a side effect. Antibiotics can also disrupt the normal intestinal flora and cause you to allow a bacteria called Clostridium difficile to take over. You need to get cultured for this. It s a stool (fecal) culture. See your doctor (not the nurse) and ask to have this done. If it is positive they will actually have to treat you with another bacteria to get rid of it plus you will need to take probiotics.
Avatar m tn a period of diarrhea (up to several hours); after this I feel very weak for several days and have difficulties concentrating. And there are some additional symptoms: slight pain in my stomach, conjunctivitis, sneezing, shortness of breath (and I feel some strange smell when I breath out). This happens in irregular periods. I've done a medical examination, they've found gall stones and nothing special but this. Ideas?
1472764 tn?1287588186 I've finally broken down and taken the antibiotics. Temp was 100.2 today. 10 days of azythromyocin. 1 pill a day. Dr. said its safe for pregnancy. I'm also taking probiotics to counteract yeast. Has anyone else been in this situation? Was your pregnancy and baby okay? I'm so worried.
Avatar n tn hello i had a yeast infection and took medication for it and few days later had sex with my husb and he had diarrhea for 3-4 days...did i harm him?...does a yeast infection harm a man...what will happen?...thanx !
9771234 tn?1405793808 You just need to be careful cause i think yhey say they cause yeast infections which can be harmful to your baby. So i would just make sure your doctor is approving them.
Avatar f tn Also while on antibiotics incorporate a few yogurts into your daily routine as antibiotics can cause yeast infections. Feel better!
Avatar n tn I know that depending on the antibiotics I take (namely those for a UTI) I get yeast infections. You can talk to your doctor and make sure you didn't have an adverse reaction or get an infection from the medicines you were on.
Avatar n tn Some women can be more prone to resistant yeast infections than others. It sounds like this has not been going on for very long so I would not get too worried just yet. If you truly had just a "bad cold" you should not have been given antibiotics. I hear this happening all the time and over prescribing of antibiotics is why we have so many antibiotic resistant bacteria (superbugs) in the U.S. (as well as women with yeast infections!).
