1697869 tn?1306766843 Okay guys. I'm freaking out because I found out a 4 weeks I was pregnant, then at 5 I got strep throat. Dr. prescribed Amoxicillin and I took it. Now, looking back I'm really really afraid I may have hurt my baby (I'm 9 weeks now) I understand that I had to take it or it the strep could have hurt the baby. Now, to top it all off, I got a yeast infection from the antibiotics and I don't know what to do. I'm mortified at the idea of taking another medicine. HELP!!!!!!!!!!
1472764 tn?1287588186 I've finally broken down and taken the antibiotics. Temp was 100.2 today. 10 days of azythromyocin. 1 pill a day. Dr. said its safe for pregnancy. I'm also taking probiotics to counteract yeast. Has anyone else been in this situation? Was your pregnancy and baby okay? I'm so worried.
Avatar f tn I would speculate that if you don't take the antibiotics, you would hurt your baby more. If you doubt your doctor, ask for another doctor.
Avatar f tn Actually yeast is not good when baby is going to pass through the birth canal... but you are still early. If they are putting you on antibiotics take probiotics with them & eat plain greek yogurt. Every time I have ever had to take antibiotics I eat tons of greek yogurt & take probiotics & it keeps me from getting yeast infections. I also squirt greek yogurt up inside & yeast goes away...
Avatar f tn Also antibiotics can lead to yeast infections, for you and baby. If you test positive, eat lots of yogurt to help reduce that risk. Yeast infection (in your vag) just after giving birth is probably excruciating! And you can get them on your nipples too, and your baby can get a yeast infection in his/her mouth. This can cause some problems with breastfeeding, especially if you've never breastfed before!
8069122 tn?1407171566 Antibiotics are prone to causing yeast infections because they mess with our natural pH levels. Go ahead and make an appointment with your ob to make 100% sure that is it and they'll give you something that's safe for you & baby that will knock it out quick.

Avatar f tn Good luck. Sometimes these can be hard to shake. I took three rounds of antibiotics for uti but I used to get yeast infections. I dont think it is harmful to th e baby. You cant suffer and be stressed or that is upsetting to the baby too. Good luck!! Thinking of you!!
Avatar f tn Please keep your baby, DO NOT do anything in HASTE!! You more than likely did absolutely NO HARM!! You are still so very early in your pregnancy to be cause for alarm. Just speak with your OB for an alternate med for your infection. You'll be ok. Check out this website for drugs/meds that are safe during pregnancy: www.safefetus.
Avatar f tn Also while on antibiotics incorporate a few yogurts into your daily routine as antibiotics can cause yeast infections. Feel better!
Avatar n tn I know that depending on the antibiotics I take (namely those for a UTI) I get yeast infections. You can talk to your doctor and make sure you didn't have an adverse reaction or get an infection from the medicines you were on.
Avatar n tn Some women can be more prone to resistant yeast infections than others. It sounds like this has not been going on for very long so I would not get too worried just yet. If you truly had just a "bad cold" you should not have been given antibiotics. I hear this happening all the time and over prescribing of antibiotics is why we have so many antibiotic resistant bacteria (superbugs) in the U.S. (as well as women with yeast infections!).
Avatar n tn They didn't give me anything for a yeast infection. But that was 6 years ago.
964234 tn?1331949207 I am on amoxcillan antibiotics for 10 days. I am a few days in and I think I am getting a yeast infection due to the side affects. Typically, I am allergic to yeast infection treatments over the counter (monistat ect) and I only get them if I am on antibiotics. So, docs will usually give me a pill to take orally once cure it along with my prescription.
Avatar m tn hi since may of this year, i have been on the following, keflex twice(70 pills total), cipro twice (40 pills total), azthromycin twice (8 pills total), doxycycline (40 pills total), bactrim(30 pills) and 3 rocephin shots). would that be why for the past few months i have had yeast/fungal issues, they come and go in my groin and under stomach and arm area, and little yeast bumps on body?
Avatar f tn Could be a yeast infection from the meds. Antibiotics normally will cause yeast. Are you sfill active with partner(s)? You could be getting reinfected. Did you complete treatment as directed? If so Dr will give you stronger medicine.
Avatar f tn It could be a yeast infection, if you were on antibiotics which i dont doubt u were, the antibiotics can cause you to get a yeast infection. It happens to me when ever im on antibiotics.
Avatar f tn wondered if u also get yeast infections...antibiotics can cause a flare up of a yeast infection...so do ask for DIFLUCAN to help prevent that issue altogether. Speaking with a Pharmacist may be the best help in knowing what meds would be best for u with the H.Pylori...it can be resistant to antibiotics...and can require a second round. Then, the antibiotics can kill off all teh good bacteria u need, so ask ur dr about taking a probiotic afterward.
9771234 tn?1405793808 Actually yeast is a fungal infection and is not affected by antibiotics. If a dr prescribes antibiotics for a yeast infection they have no idea what they are doing.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor before i got married because i had a foul odor and nasty discharge. According to him I had no sign of STD nor yeast infection. He gave me antibiotics and it stppoed a little. It came back a month after and same foul smell. It started itching this time so i went back to a lady doctor who did another test to check for yeast infection and came out perfect. She said the discharge is normal but its just too much.
Avatar f tn I would personally wait and see the doctor, not go to the ER. If it itches really badly, go to the store and get anti itch stuff to last you until you see the doc. It won't harm the baby at all...yeast is a healthy bacteria. It also can't get to baby because of your mucus plug.
Avatar f tn yes! I get thrush (yeast infections) when I take antibiotics for my chest infections (I get them alottt) lol. I had bronchitis a month ago and I would not go any where near antiboitics took 2weeks for my chest infection to clear up and it did. itchiness is a huge indicator and it does get swallon if scratched alot! if u notice an off smell it is thrush. they are the worst to get rid of!!
Avatar f tn Sometimes when you treat bv you get a yeast infection and vice versa because the antibiotics used to treat the infection kill off too much of the bacteria. You always have the yeast and bv bacteria in your vagina, but when one is out of balance it causes an infection.
Avatar m tn For 6 days, they pumped approximately 40 bags of IV antibiotics, fluids, and minerals (potassium, magnesium, etc.) into me. When discharged, I continued another 2 weeks of Cipro and 2 rounds of Fluconazole for yeast infection. Since ending the last round of pills 5 days ago, my bowel movements have begun to return to normal after having antibiotic-induced diarrhea for a month.
