Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics yeast

antibiotics

1472764 tn?1287588186 I've finally broken down and taken the antibiotics. Temp was 100.2 today. 10 days of azythromyocin. 1 pill a day. Dr. said its safe for pregnancy. I'm also taking probiotics to counteract yeast. Has anyone else been in this situation? Was your pregnancy and baby okay? I'm so worried.
9771234 tn?1405793808 You just need to be careful cause i think yhey say they cause yeast infections which can be harmful to your baby. So i would just make sure your doctor is approving them.
Avatar f tn Also while on antibiotics incorporate a few yogurts into your daily routine as antibiotics can cause yeast infections. Feel better!
Avatar n tn I know that depending on the antibiotics I take (namely those for a UTI) I get yeast infections. You can talk to your doctor and make sure you didn't have an adverse reaction or get an infection from the medicines you were on.
Avatar n tn Some women can be more prone to resistant yeast infections than others. It sounds like this has not been going on for very long so I would not get too worried just yet. If you truly had just a "bad cold" you should not have been given antibiotics. I hear this happening all the time and over prescribing of antibiotics is why we have so many antibiotic resistant bacteria (superbugs) in the U.S. (as well as women with yeast infections!).
Avatar m tn hi since may of this year, i have been on the following, keflex twice(70 pills total), cipro twice (40 pills total), azthromycin twice (8 pills total), doxycycline (40 pills total), bactrim(30 pills) and 3 rocephin shots). would that be why for the past few months i have had yeast/fungal issues, they come and go in my groin and under stomach and arm area, and little yeast bumps on body?
Avatar f tn wondered if u also get yeast infections...antibiotics can cause a flare up of a yeast infection...so do ask for DIFLUCAN to help prevent that issue altogether. Speaking with a Pharmacist may be the best help in knowing what meds would be best for u with the H.Pylori...it can be resistant to antibiotics...and can require a second round. Then, the antibiotics can kill off all teh good bacteria u need, so ask ur dr about taking a probiotic afterward.
1697869 tn?1306766843 Okay guys. I'm freaking out because I found out a 4 weeks I was pregnant, then at 5 I got strep throat. Dr. prescribed Amoxicillin and I took it. Now, looking back I'm really really afraid I may have hurt my baby (I'm 9 weeks now) I understand that I had to take it or it the strep could have hurt the baby. Now, to top it all off, I got a yeast infection from the antibiotics and I don't know what to do. I'm mortified at the idea of taking another medicine. HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn Use the cream, finish antibiotics, take probiotics, tablet form even while you're on antibiotics (antibiotics target the bad bacteria but kill the good in the process. Sending in good bacteria (in probiotic tablets) whilst you're on antibiotics means you still have some form of gut protection). After antibiotics, take an SB probiotic to recolonize your gut with good bacteria (this will impact your good bacteria levels in vagina too).
Avatar n tn a green tint (or bad smell, for future reference) is a sign that it is more than just a yeast infection. Also, antibiotics kill bacteria that keeps the low levels of yeast naturally found in your body from getting out of control. this makes it easier to get yeast infections (like the one on your leg). I'm really not sure about your missed period sweetie, but a trip to the doc will fix the first two problems! Good Luck!
Avatar f tn Antibiotics can cause yeast infections which can cause itchiness, I'd get checked for a yeast infection.
Avatar f tn d and its been itchy for a couple of days down there, I was looking on the internet and it said both antibiotics and pregnancy both can cause yeast infections, and my symptoms are those of a yeast infection... I just don't know what to do, I already have an OB appointment for Nov. 14th.. I need help what do I do..???
Avatar f tn The antibiotics kill all bacteria (even the good ones) and that is why we are more likely to get a yeast infection after being on antibiotics. My suggestion would be if you ever are on antibiotics or just want to prevent the yeast infection, make sure you buy Danactive and drink one a day- that will keep your "good" bacteria up and this will help prevent further yeast infections...
Avatar f tn has anyone taken antibiotics in the first trimester? im only 7.5 weeks and my doctor detected strep b in my urine. i dont really feel too comfortable taking these in the first trimester even though they may be considered "safe". any insight would be great.
Avatar f tn First you must try and calm down. Yes antibiotics will cause a yeast infection as a side effect. You may want to use Monistat 1 day. It's pricy but It does work. If you continue to take a lot of antibiotics it WILL keep coming back. Unfortunately it's a side effect and nothing can be really done about it except if you stop taking the antibiotics. Have you ever tried to see if your DR can prescribe something other than antibiotics for your sinus infections?
Avatar f tn Ive had a yeast infection with my son and my daughter. Yes antibiotics can throw off your PH balance so you could possibly have an infection. Any burning or discomfort should always be addressed with your OB to get proper treatment. In the meantine, drink only water and natural cranberry(no cocktail-too much sugar) and try to eat yogurt daily.
Avatar f tn In order to kill Yeast, you need Antifungals
Avatar f tn Sounds like a yeast infection. Was it antibiotics that you were on? I never got yeast infections until i got pregnant and took antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Is it a side effect of the antibiotics? Is it an incipient yeast infection from the antibiotics? Is it possible to develop a yeast infection from the antibiotics only days after you've take a one dose suppository of 500mg of Clotrimazole? What is that white paste??!! I'm supposed to start my Micradantine treatment today now that its Monday and the only pharmacy in town will be open.
9771234 tn?1405793808 Actually yeast is a fungal infection and is not affected by antibiotics. If a dr prescribes antibiotics for a yeast infection they have no idea what they are doing.
Avatar f tn You need to go to the Dr to get tested for a yeast infection, sounds like one but I'm no Dr..lol Also I don't know what they use to treat Chlamydia but if it's antibiotics your BC will not work!!!
Avatar f tn I would see the dr before changing or stopping or slowing the meds. Stopping and restarting antibiotics is something the doc should approve, since the bacteria can become resistant to the meds by being wounded but not killed. One thing to ask is about yeast infection. Docs (even LLMDs) are sometimes not very savvy about these things, and I got a huge systemic yeast infection that several docs (not just my LLMD) didn't recognize as such.
Avatar f tn nothing ever workd for me. apart from antibiotics. usually when u take antibiotics you get yeast infections they are stuborn to get rid of. antibiotics kill the good bacteria that's why you yeast infections. when I need to pee I go pee I dont hold it in.
964234 tn?1331949207 I am on amoxcillan antibiotics for 10 days. I am a few days in and I think I am getting a yeast infection due to the side affects. Typically, I am allergic to yeast infection treatments over the counter (monistat ect) and I only get them if I am on antibiotics. So, docs will usually give me a pill to take orally once cure it along with my prescription.
Avatar f tn Yeah, diflucan (the one time pill) is awesome. Definitely don't take antibiotics for a yeast infection--you'll make it worse. If it hasn't been swabbed and checked for yeast, it's possible you could have something like bacterial vaginosis, which would require antibiotics. It could also be just the delay between treatment and relief. Even if you take the one pill, you will still itch for a few days.
Avatar f tn What kind of antibiotics (abx) are you taking? Acidophilus, maybe?
