Avatar f tn Hi there, I've been sick for almost 3 months, seeing tons of Drs and getting lots of tests. It started with numbness tingling and fatigue, so dr was thinking something neurological. Eventually a couple of months ago my stomach became involved and I was bloated with bad pain, reflux and diarreah. I ended up at the er twice from pain and difficulty breathing when lying down. I eventually was treated for a UTI based on two Urine analysis, despite the lack of regular symptoms.

Since many laboratories do not routinely test for Y. enterocolitica, it is particularly important for your doctor to notify laboratory personnel when infection with this bacterium is suspected so that special tests can be done. Great Smokies Diagnostic Labs can do this testing.
Avatar n tn Hashimoto’s thyroiditis has been linked to infections with hepatitis C, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), HTLV-1 virus, Helicobacter pylori and Yersinia enterocolitica. There is strong evidence that acute parvovirus B19 infections are involved in some cases of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
Avatar m tn However, I have remarkably high Yersinia markers in my blood (Yersinia IgG 93,76 RU/ml). Does this mean that Yersinia is the root cause of my arthritis and would it be advisable to take antibiotics against it? Thanks in advance for any help.
Avatar f tn The causes of Mesenteric lymphadenitis usually follow viral infection with the common cold, or with infection by Yersinia enterocolitica, Pseudo tuberculosis, Streptococcus viridansor Campylobacter jejuni. The bugs gain access to the wall of the intestine, and invade the lymph nodes on the covering of the intestines called the mesentery. The small intestine is frequently more involved, but the large intestines or colon may also be involved.
Avatar m tn I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and insulin resistance, pre-diabetic and lyme disease. I think the Hashimoto's is a sign or chronic lyme. I am researching Yersinia Enterocolitica and Hashimto's and lyme and Hashimoto's. There are many people with thyroid problems and lyme. This appears to be a case of molecular mimicry. Google and read lots of articles..........
Avatar m tn A sore throat, persistent for two months is rather unusual and definitely atypical for Strep throat, especially after two courses of antibiotics, assuming that one or both of the antibiotics given were capable of eradicating a conventional strep infection. Your doctors were right to check for Gonorrhea as that definitely cause a refractory sore throat. Another organism that can cause, not uncommonly cause acute and/or chronic sore throat is Mycoplasma Pneumonia.
Avatar m tn There are other bacteria that are ordered special such as Campylobacter jejuni and Yersinia enterocolitica. I am worried that this doctor doesn't believe you can get it from one set of antibiotics (which is not true) and didn't run the test. Because if he says no signs of infection why would he be giving you more antibiotics? It doesn't make sense? I hope he did all these things before he has you do the colonoscopy. Have you travelled lately out of the country? Do you have a fever?
Avatar m tn My cellular activity against borrelia is positive do as for yersinia and EBV! So I have a suspectible reactivated EBV too (however this test is almost a year old, but I am still experiencing the same symtpoms). I do not know which of my symptoms could be related to lyme, or EBV, but what my problem is that I have a strange pressure-like headache along with brain fog that is not really specific to lyme.
Avatar m tn This may describe why Sb is so successful when used with other antibiotics. I presume when used on triple therapy with other antibiotics it would be even better. Regardless, I don’t suggest anyone to try all sorts of antibiotics now with Sb because it doesn’t heal PATM permanently and will only cause resistance to those antibiotics. However, if anyone has used some of them before I would like to know what you’ve observed.
Avatar n tn I have had very high B12 on testing before. (though not recently) I do eat red meat (free range) I do eat seaweed. I don't take any iodine supplements. (did try once briefly and just felt terribly wrong). I do love cranberries, but haven't eaten them much recently. I eat a very healthy diet, though not alot of food. I am not overweight or underweight. I don't seem to need much food to maintain a fair weight.
Avatar m tn As case in point, use of expired antibiotics may result in you developing an anti-biotic resistant infection due to the degradation of effectiveness.
666921 tn?1254990618 It could be the sensory overload issue that people with these kind of issues get. At my worst there was something about the fluorescent lights in the grocery store that would affect me. As soon as I walked in my legs would feel weak. The car issue could be motion sickness. People with lyme are more prone to it. It's on the symptom list.
Avatar f tn Hi I looked this up, it used to be called Macrobid. It is just for bladder infections so that is good. If your doctor knows about your liver, I think this would be safe. I am not a doctor but I also have compensated cirrhosis and always worry about antibiotics. I learned that penicillin or penicillin family is the safest. In your case, it sounds like it is worth it to use it. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has had any heart rhythm problems attributed to antibiotics. I have pvcs/pacs, all tests, ekg, echo has come back completely normal. Im just worried about taking a new medication,, afraid it may cause the palpitations to be worse, better yet cause a dangerous arrythmia!! Any advice would be great!!
Avatar n tn I haven't used coconut oil for a uti but its great for its antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal properties. Same with olive leaf extract.
Avatar m tn Hello, Burning oozing mucus from the rectum is characteristic of proctitis(an inflammation of the anus and the lining of the rectum) and rectal prolapse(the walls of the rectum protrude through the anus) but other conditions like ulcerative colitis and inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome , Bacterial infections, such as those from Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, and Yersinia and intussusception(telescoping of a part of intestine on the other) can also cause them.
Avatar f tn No, actually, this is a very common side effect of taking antibiotics. People also are very commonly allergic to certain antibiotics. Antibiotics also kill off the beneficial organisms in our intestinal tract that are a very large part of our mental health system. It's probably the antibiotics.
1084115 tn?1385228589 Metronidazole ketocanozole, miconazole, fluconazole, itraconazole, and nitrofurantoin pyrazinamide should be used with caution. Beta-lactum antibiotics can cause leucopenia, while amino glycosides can increase susceptibility to renal failure. Vancomycin can cause increased toxicity in patients with liver failure. Antibiotics which can produce hepatitis or cholestasis should be avoided or used with caution. Tuberculosis was more common in alcoholic and Child class C cirrhosis (Table 1).
Avatar m tn They would cure NGU and gonorrhea...they might cure syphilis.
Avatar f tn I did miss a couple of days and drink a little on my antibiotics over the weekend, but quickly resumed the regimen. I still have crepitus at my knees but significantly less swelling. I also still have occassional discharge prior to urination, but no burn. So, could this be Reiter's? I had the classic triad of urethritis, arthritis, and conjunctivitis, albeit at different intervals. But sexual partners apparently turned up negative for chlamydia.
