Avatar f tn Hi Again, There are multiple types of cystitis. The most common type is acute bacterial cystitis, the common bladder infection wemen get all the time. Patients can get a chronic bacterial cystitis where there is a deep infection in the bladder wall below the surface. Antibiotics in the urine can't easily clear this infection due to it's deep position in the bladder.
Avatar f tn [I have posted this in a couple of forums so I apologise, but I am hoping for a quick and accurate answer from anyone that can help me] I have recurrent Cystitis (at least that is what I think it is - I also don't know the difference between normal Cystitis and Interstitial Cystitis) that used to be triggered by cold feet, however it seems to have got worse and is now triggered whenever my body gets cold (and it's hard to stay warm 24-7).
2167803 tn?1338529751 P during the last three months but the problem persists.During this I have also used three antibiotics ciprofloxacin, cefixime and saproxin but the problem is not over.Last time the Urine D/R showed Puss cell 20 to 25 and Red blood cells 4--5.Plz advise me what should I do? The urologists say there is no need of cystoscopy.
Avatar n tn Because I am still having pain on urination, I was given another round of antibiotics to take (different antibiotic and suffering significant side effects). I always have residual pain that lasts for many weeks after an infection clears, probably due to postmenopausal urogenital atrophy. How do you know when to say "enough" with the antibiotics when you still have dysuria but a negative culture? (The last urinalysis at the GPs office showed red blood cells but no white ones).
Avatar n tn When reading the leaflet for the home pregnancy test it says antibiotics can effect the resulst so should i take the test or wait till the antibiotics are done.
Avatar f tn I don't know personally about the new antibiotics used for UTIs but they do seem to have certain ones now that are more effective than standard antibiotics for treatment. Here is a link that I found that might explain further: http://www.umm.edu/patiented/articles/how_antibiotics_used_treating_urinary_tract_infections_000036_8.htm Hope this helps. Keep us updated.
Avatar f tn A couple days ago my bladder just started burning, so i started drinking lots of water with d-mannose, marshmallow root and horsetail, my symptoms have improved, burning is gone but I still have pressure in my bladder. I don't want to take antibiotics because it causes so much other problems in my body like chronic yeast infections. I seem to have chronic bladder problems, like frequent urination, bladder spasms, my urine samples usually come back negative.
Avatar n tn I have cystitis in the wrist end of the ulna bone. It feels like carpal tunnel syndrome and force such as turning on a very stiff tap can set it off and the bone where the infection is becomes extremely painful and cannot be used for 10 days or so. why does this happen? Is there a cure/treatment for it?
Avatar m tn Please help! I'm at my wit's end. Here's the pattern: UTI, antibiotics, revisit after antibiotic and urine is clear, 5 days later another UTI. 19 times!!!! I've had a renal ultrasound (normal), Cystoscopy (normal), bladder is emptying, many cultures (nothing unusual grows), I've been to my family doctor, my gynecologist, a urologist, and a urogynecologist. They all say there is no reason this should be happening, but cannot figure out why it does.
Avatar f tn t know the difference between normal Cystitis and Interstitial Cystitis) that used to be triggered by cold feet, however it seems to have got worse and is now triggered whenever my body gets cold (and it's hard to stay warm 24-7). I have had a Cystoscopy and they found nothing there. A few times bacteria has been found in a urine test and I was given antibiotics (Alprim) yet symptoms often remained after the course of tablets. When a urine test has been re-taken no bacteria was found.
Avatar n tn I take a basic cystitis medicine which I can get over the counter in my local chemist which always gets rid of my cystitis. I don't usually feel lots of pain when I pass urine it's just that I need to go to the bathroom a lot and I feel really urgent but I only pass a tiny bit and then 10 mins later I am urgent again. I am scared about going to my doctor not only because it is embarrest but also because I am worried about horrible tests.
Avatar f tn There are many things that can cause this pain it could be chronic cystitis or interstitial cystitis. The symptoms are the same and a good urologist can help diagnosis the problems. Either way you pain, burning and bladder pain. The self help things etc. can help you while you see a diagnosis! We have an IC and pelvic pain support forum here on this site actually two, listed below. There is actually an article on the physical relationship on the first forum.
Avatar f tn I had sex with my boyfriend 2 weeks ago, and we used a lubricant that I think I'm allergic to. I had really bad burning down below and it resulted in a UTI. I took some medication and it cleared up. Then we slept together again a few days later, without the lube, and the burning/tingling/throbbing continued after. I had been taking ibuprofen which seemed to stop the feeling, but it's now been four days and it's still there.
Avatar f tn It was resistant and I had to be treated with IV antibiotics. Subsequent urine samples showed no growth, yet I still have symptoms. I have had urinary inflammation in the past which comes and goes, but this is driving me insane. I am on another course of oral antibiotics but nothing seems to be changing, and if it is the same E Coli it would need IV antibiotics again.
Avatar m tn 22 May I started taking stone medicines and antibiotics for an infection I felt better for two weeks almost and the symptoms came back again I went back to the doctor at 31 May to check the stones again he told me only one left and the infection is still there.
Avatar m tn It is very possible esp, with your symptoms starting after Chemo that you have Interstital Cystitis. I have noticed several patients that begin to have symptoms after finishing chemo symptoms. No one knows what the cause or multiple insults to the bladder that cause IC, and for each of us those maybe different. ONE HUGE WARNING IF YOU HAVE AN IRRITATED BLADDER CRANBERRY IS ONE OF THE TOP 5 THINGS FLARE TRIGGERS.
