Avatar m tn However I am 4 days into a course of E-Mycin antibiotics for a respiratory tract infection which I have discovered is also used to treat Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. I have a partner that I cheated on which makes things more complicated, so; 1) If I have one of those std's, could the E Mycin have removed it from my system in 4 days (I am taking 400mg twice daily) thus opening up the possibility that I get tested negatively only to catch them again from my partner whom I may have infected.
Avatar f tn The testing is a result of failure to resolve findings of enterococcus faecalis in semen cultures after two 3 month courses of antibiotics, so the desire to explore the potential of prostate injections of concentrated antibiotics, with the chlamydia finding coming out of left field.
Avatar f tn That class of antibiotic is not used for chlamydia. It is also not used for trich. So, no. These Keflex is not prescribed for either of those. See your doctor for the right class of antibiotics. And both should be diagnosed officially and tests run to make sure they are gone after treatment.
Avatar f tn I know azithromycin is used to get rid of chlamydia , but say you have a false positive test (you dont really have chlamydia) but still take the azithromycin, can you then acquire chlamydia from taking the antibiotics ?
Avatar m tn Accordingly, it will make gonorrhea and chlamydia tests negative, and may result in lower strength in RPR and VDRL, commonly used to diagnose syphilis. But this isn't really the same as "interference": that is, the tests themselves work just fine after or during doxycycline treatment.
Avatar n tn s are treated with other antibiotics. If you got chlamydia from your experience, you have treated it and it SHOULD be gone. I have had chlamydia before, but zithromax did not cure it. I needed a different antibiotic called doxycycline. This does happen so don't be surprised if it is not gone. As for other STD's, you need to get tested to get a prescription for the proper antibiotics.
Avatar f tn I was on antibiotics, I took a 1000mg Azithromycin for a chlyamidia infection . It was one dose so I was done in one day. I am on the pill but had unprotected sex the next day after finishing antibiotics. He pulled out and didn't even immediately *** after that but I know this isn't a form of birth control. I continued to take my birth control for the remainder of the pack. I take junel, only 3 weeks of active pills then a week where you don't take any pills.
Avatar f tn The anti-chlamydia antibiotics work very rapidly.
Avatar m tn It might be possible to confirm results with a culture if you are both adamant about your resistance to antibiotics. I must say that because of the damage that chlamydia can cause in the female reproductive tract if it ascends into the fallopian tubes (eg infertility) and because the antibiotics used to treat the condition are so simple and UNlikely to cause side effects or reactions, I think that the risk-benefit ratio strongly points to taking the antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Alternates to doxycycline are various flouroquinalone antibiotics like Ofloxacin and Levofloxcian. These are effective against chlamydia and should be tolerated by your allergies. Not having insurance can be tough, but these antibiotics should be equally priced to doxy.
Avatar n tn If it is a yeast infection it is possible to give that to someone when he gave you oral sex. You will have to see your Dr again for proper diagnosis.
Avatar m tn She had gotten bacterial vaginosis (BV) early in the relationship, and then four years ago was positive for chlamydia. Took the medication until feeling good but never went back for tests to ensure an eventual negative. After that relationship ended a year and a half ago she had since slept with two other people (protected, a couple of times each) over a 1 year period, and then we started seeing each other exclusively a month or so after the last individual she was with.
Avatar m tn t want to pass anything to my current partner. As it so happens, I have on hand the recommended antibiotic which is used to treat chlamydia, azithromycin. While I don't think I have it, would there be any harm in taking the antibiotic?
Avatar n tn t understand chlamydia or the proper tests for it; the chlamydia blood tests cannot be used to diagnose a current chlamydial infection -- period, no exceptions. To clarify things, I suggest you find a doctor clinic where proper testing can be done, and both you and your wife get tested. This will mean a vaginal or cervical swab from your wife, and a urine specimen from you. If and when you do that, I will be happy to comment on the results.
Avatar n tn ve not had an outbreak and went to get tested. I tested positive for chlamydia and took antibiotics. I used a condom with spermicidal lubricant. What could this be?
Avatar f tn Gyn prescribed Levofloxacin (Tavanic 500mg 1/d for 14d). I was infected with chlamydia before that and was treated with Doxycycline (Vibramycin 100mg, 2/d for 14d), but I had an uncomfortable light sensitivity reaction to it. At the time I had 2 different partners. They both took Roxithromycin (Rulid 300mg 1/d for 14 d), both said they prefered Rulidx1 than Vibramycinx2/d. I know for sure that partn2 completed the treatment, don't know about partn1,(who gave me the infection).
Avatar m tn I kind of freaked out and did chlamydia and gonorroe tests at 7 days and after taking the test I took azithromycine (1gram). The tests came back negative and at 4 weeks I tested negative for chlamydia gonorroe syphilis and hiv. I re-took the syphilis and hiv tests at 40 days. Both negative. My question is though: can the azithromycine (1gram) affect the tests for Syphilis? If so, will it extend the window period?
Avatar f tn Several years later I contracted chlamydia and gonorrhea. Antibiotics were once again used to treat the diseases. A couple of years have passed and again I find myself with STD symptoms. Unfortunately I am currently in Asia and I have had difficulty getting tested and treated properly. During mid December 2012 I noticed discharge from my penis. I visited a pharmacy on December 18 and was prescribed 200 mg of Tarivid Ofloxacin pills to be taken twice a day for ten days.
Avatar m tn So on December 27th (4 days after the end of the clarithromycin antibiotics) I used a reputed mail tester in Japan for a variety of STDs (providing samples of blood, urine, and throat sample obtained from gargling a solution they had sent). I was negative for everything (HIV, Hep, Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia from the urine test, etc.), but tested positive for throat chlamydia! I'm very surprised by that.
Avatar m tn But you panicked over a low risk situation. Antibiotics do not mask the test. Either they cure the infection or not. And the gonorrhea test and chlamydia test were done 3 weeks post exposure. So you should be fine. Taka care!
Avatar f tn t masturbate at all , and took antibiotics and it is now cured , and I no longer have Chlamydia . However , I was wondering , if I used the same object I used when I had Chlamydia a month later when I was cured could I reinfect myself ? I washed it with hand soap , as I didn't have anti bacterial soap .
Avatar f tn I previously took antibiotics when diagnosed with Chlamydia. I took the dose and waited 7 days, and month later had sex with someone I had had sex with before taking the treatment. He said that his doctor tested him and he was negative for Chlamydia, but it was only a week after we had sex. So, I called my doctor and got the medication represcribed just to be safe.
1711398 tn?1308281986 how do i know if its chlamydia and what is that? is it life long? can i take a med for it to go away?
Avatar n tn What antibiotics are recommended to treat chlamydia while pregnant/trying to conceive? Thanks.
Avatar m tn But in the unlikely possibility you in fact had gonorrhea or chlamydia missed by the urine tests, those antibiotics would have cured it effectively. There is no evidence of STD risk to your wife. Of course no distant online source can guarantee you aren't infected with something, if I were in your situation I would continue unprotected sex with my wife with no worries about her health. I hope this helps.
