523927 tn?1257018704 Any thoughts on bacterial resistance to antibiotics? And what about the tendon damage that occurs from the quinolone family? I heard something about quinolones being "black boxed" over in Europe. Is magnesium supplementation recommended or not when taking a quinolone? I would prefer to avoid antibiotics if I can, but maybe antibiotics is necessary?

3230354 tn?1381305686 you self treated for chlamydia so there really wasn't any reason to test. in the future, don't self treat. the incidence of antibiotic resistance bacteria is incredibly huge and it's important to avoid antibiotics unless completely necessary. this means no guessing and self treating but waiting for + test results before taking antibiotics. you can contract std's from unprotected oral but the risk of such is very low.

Avatar f tn Quinolones like ciprofloxacin are one of the good drugs for the E. Coli but nowadays increasing incidence of resistance has been shown with the use of quinolones and in fact one of the older antibiotics like septran has been found to be quite useful for these bacteria. I’ll suggest to undergo tests ultrasound or intravenous urography to look for the cause of recurrent UTI. You might need a course of prophylactic antibiotics for prolonged periods for 6 months- 1 yr.

Avatar f tn What I would like to know is if the people who have not taken many antibiotics in their lifetimes are as at risk as those who have built a resistance to them. Is this mutant bacteria dangerous because the antibiotics don't work for a person who has a resistance or because it is so powerful that even if an antibiotic works well for you, the bacterial strain is so powerful, it will override any known antibiotic? Does this question make sense?

I originally went to the Endocronologist because of one of my nursing professors, who called me out in class, palpated my thyroid, and told me it was enlarged. I had a thyroid scan done at the doctors office, which he said looked ok, but I had a small cyst on it, which he stated was normal.
