antibiotics

5915949 tn?1396188227 I think that's your personal judgment call, most women are willing to take a catagory A or B. I did not take a z-pack, but I took azithromycin & it is also category B. Do the benefits outweigh the risks?
1472764 tn?1287588186 When I had pneumonia with my daughter, I was on antibiotics to clear it up and everything was fine. I was just put on amoxicillin for a dental infection. Both amoxicillin and the medication in your z-pack (I'm assuming that is what you are taking?) are both Pregnancy Category B and considered safe during pregnancy. I even specifically asked my Pharmacist and she assured me it is safe.
1697869 tn?1306766843 Amoxicillin is considered safe during pregnancy (it is Preganncy Category B). Have you seen your doctor about the yeast infection? There are medications that are safe to use during pregnancy for yeast infection.
Avatar f tn Are you pregnant? Macrobid is pregnancy category B--- used in pregnancy. Cipro, the gold standard is pregnancy category C--- not the best choice for someone who is pregnant. Amoxicillin isn't the best choice at all for a UTI based on the common bacteria that causes UTI's. Every infection is caused by a specific strain of bacteria. Some antibiotics are going to work better on different strains of bacteria.
Avatar f tn s answer Azithromycin (Zithromax®) is considered a pregnancy Category B medicine by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which means that it has not been studied in pregnant women. However, when studied in pregnant animals, azithromycin showed no negative effects on unborn babies. and i'm assuming that your dr knows you are pregnant or nursing?
Avatar f tn I picked up a food borne illness while in MX in September & my doctor put menon an antibiotic.. it was azithromycin & it was a pregnancy category B (no evidence of risk).I don't know if it treats typhoid though & what I had was not typhoid. I was so relived as the other person who responded is correct.. typhoid is very very dangerous to the baby. Definitely treat immediately.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Amoxicillin for one of my wisdom teeth I had extrated yesterday which is Category B medication. I'm not taking the Category C which is Tylenol with Codeine which doesn't do harm but is advise just to stay away from. Category B has no harm to the baby I'm assuming your medication should be just fine. Being a nurse I had to look up these things. Look up what category the medication is and do research on what the categories mean.
Avatar f tn There are antibiotics that are still in the safer category A and some B that you can take. I had a uti just recently tried to let it get better on its own and it got worse and ended up having to take take 2 courses of antibiotics.
Avatar f tn amoxicillin and pregnancy. It is category B, which means that in animal studies where animals were given 10 times the human dose, there was no increase in birth defects. It is MUCH safer to take the the amoxicillin than it is to leave your UTI untreated.
Avatar f tn Hi, DS is on zpak for a bacterial upper respitorary infection secondary to common cold. He got the prescription 5 days after onset of cold symptoms and 1 day after onset of 103 degree high fever. It is an antibiotics. If you're not running a fever and just starting to feel cold symptoms, it's likely that your infection is viral and zpak will not help you.

Has anyone else experienced this?? Plus....i have this feeling that I may have to take the terazol again....I am well into my second trimester so I think its ok...but this is so nerve racking...please help!
1636395 tn?1325691363 I'm wondering if anyone knew if being step b pregnancy puts you at high risk of being able to give natural birth? Any midwives aboard?
667829 tn?1297978123 A, B, C, D, and X. Category A is the safest, while drugs in Category X are unsafe for women who are pregnant or could become pregnant. There are not many Category A drugs, says Dr. Lund. "Prenatal vitamins are not even Category A, because if you overdose on them, they cause problems." But there are Category A drugs available for conditions such as nausea and vomiting, thyroid disorders, and gestational diabetes.
338416 tn?1420045702 Hey, all - despite my advanced age and rampant health problems, I've decided I'm going to try to get pregnant. I think I've gone insane. But I'm trying to do it intelligently, if that makes sense. Here's the problem - I have spasticity and spasms. Baclofen and Tizanidine are both Category C, so I'll need to not take those while pregnant. Flexaril is Category B - is there anything else that's safe to take?
Avatar f tn Yes, my Dr gave me antibiotics for uti...I have had 2 so far during my pregnancy...yuck!
Avatar f tn Truvada is classified by the FDA as a pregnancy category B drug which means it is safe during pregnancy. During my pregnancy I used Tenofovir which is also cat B and my baby is healthy thanks god. I never stopped taking it. I don't know much about Truvada but as long as it is category B, I believe it is fine. Confirm with your dr. Goood luck.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy category b drugs are deemed safe by the FDA for pregnancy. Other pregnancy category b drugs are prenatal vitamins and tylenol. So, I would feel confident that your using this is safe. You can check with your doctor too but would not worry!

550943 tn?1330727580 Just wondering if anyone has taken antibiotics in early pregnancy? I am ten weeks and have the flu so the dr gave me "pregnancy safe" antibiotcs to try to clear up my chest. I know they are classed as safe but i am still a little nervous about taking them!
Avatar f tn I was also positive with my previous pregnancy. With that one I was prescribed antibiotics for 10 days and as a result I got a thrush infection in my mouth. I went to the doctor for it and that doctor told me he didn't understand why I was given the antibiotics because I was so early in my pregnancy and the bacteria would still be there no matter what and I still received antibiotics during labor.
Avatar f tn any ladies tested positive for group b my doctors told me I did I'm kinda worried also because I only gained 13 pounds my whole pregnancy and I'm 37 weeks and 3 days but I got a ultra and said my baby was about 5 pounds
