I like Carter's clothes a lot. Children's Place and Gymboree and Gap are great but expensive... you've got to work the sales pretty hard but can find good deals. I also love Zutano brand and Janie and Jack stuff.

Take your time at garage sales every Saturday and Sunday. I bought my stroller and car seat bran new still in the box for 50 bucks! Which would have really run me around 200-300 at the store.

I agree, get things gradually instead of waiting until the last month or 2. I started off getting 1 item per month at the least then I switched it up once 6 months hit and ended up buying 1 item or more depending on price per pay period. Look for sales, venture into Craigslist as well you can get nice items for cheap. I just got a davinci crib and mattress that looks brand new for just $100.
