Avatar f tn My recollection of the information I read when my husband was going through the evaluation process for his transplant is that you will need to be sober 6 months before they will even put you on the transplant list. Once on the list, if you start drinking again you will be removed from the list and a new waiting period will begin again to ensure your sobriety. So it is very important that you not drink - not even a beer. Ask your doctor if he is a hepatologist or gastroenterologist.

Finally am using several naturals along with my antibiotics, at my URO"s recommendation that seem to be getting us a head, FINALLY! I had a bad surgery 13 years ago, was scoped with unsterile instruments, got a very resistant pseudomonas + infection, that we believe set up a biofilm infection in my stones. That is why we were soo excited to find the surgery to remove the stones!!

666921 tn?1254990618 It could be the sensory overload issue that people with these kind of issues get. At my worst there was something about the fluorescent lights in the grocery store that would affect me. As soon as I walked in my legs would feel weak. The car issue could be motion sickness. People with lyme are more prone to it. It's on the symptom list.
Avatar f tn It really makes me angry becasue I pushed for antibiotics 25 years ago and no one would even test me. Now I find it may have easily been taken care of, had I recieved treatment then..
Avatar n tn They also are suppressed by long-term antibiotics, except for penicillin-type antibiotics which makes it worse, and you may have noticed that you felt better while on antibiotics but relapsed after stopping them. Unfortunately, treatment takes a long time due to a number of reasons listed in one of my posts today, but most patients eventually recover.
Avatar f tn I was admitted to the hospital, and spent 5 days there recovering on a whole slew of antibiotics. I came home on antibiotics and NO HAIR LOSS. I mean, it was like turning off a switch. I went from fistfuls to absolutely nothing. This was just before Thanksgiving. I stayed this way until mid February. I lost NO hair, after losing so much day after day after day. Right around Valentines Day, it came back with a vengeance.
Avatar f tn They ignore extensive evidence showing that long term antibiotics makes these patients better. I shudder to think how many people out there think they have MS, but really have Lyme instead. Can you give us more info about yourself? Tell us your story....
Avatar f tn I think you may have misunderstood her comments. I don't speak for her, but from my understanding, she has consistently cautioned people to contact their LLMD before adding in supplements. This is important advice. There are many possible conflicts out there with potential harm and it's always wise to ask the doc first. Many LLMDs recommend numerous supplements and homeopathic remedies at a time, including mine. There's no doubt that most Lyme patients take multiple things.
Avatar f tn How can I locate the list of physicians experienced with Chiari treatment that has been referenced by other users? Tried several search options without success. I am new to this community.
Avatar m tn It is a shame that meds are so expensive, I am lucky to have help otherwise I would either not eat or take my meds. I took care of many patients who came into the hospital with exacerbations from their diseases. Many cases were because they could not afford the meds that would keep their diseases in check. Unfortunately, docs would label them "non-compliant" because they weren't taking their meds.
334194 tn?1288289595 If you look at the Signs/Symptoms survey on our website, www.immed.org, you will see that many of the problems you mentioned are listed. Most of the patients that these multiple signs and symptoms had chronic infections.

Avatar f tn not sure kind, I no longer suffer from the hepatitus. But symptoms have not gone away the whole list of fibro symptoms. I did test positive for ASCA and neg atypical Panca does this have any significance?? MY gastro doc said not chrohn's.
Avatar m tn My ENT wants to bring in the big guns now and is using Amoxicillin and Augmentin as antibiotics for 3 weeks and is making me take 9 days of Prednisone oral steroid to stop the swelling in the sinuses, starting with 30mg/day initially and slowly dropping to 10mg/day. I know its a short term thing but the side effect list for this drug scares the crap out of me and I've heard many nightmarish things about it from other people. Will it have any long term damage to my body?
Avatar f tn When to my general practitioner who put me on 5 days z pack antibiotics (did not do a culture). Finished z pack Saturday. Still have white stuff in the back of my throat and feeling sore again. Am a little worried about having to do too many antibiotics on tx. Am worried maybe they are not as effective on tx. Will try calling my gp and my hep doc tomorrow now that the holidays are over. Just wondering if anyone has had similar issues or knowledge that could help.
Avatar f tn many antivirals do not work for CFIDS patients. However, there is a research drug called Ampligen that has helped many patients with CFIDS. The problem ? It cost $20,000 a year and I believe it still isn't FDA approved. Also, this is something that I believe you need to take for the rest of your life. Another option would be Valcyte, another antiviral. Many physicians are hesitant to prescribe this drug for their patients because it is such a powerful drug.
1067297 tn?1255030564 ve read about patient experiences, amoxicillin is a popular choice for treating Lyme, especially in younger patients. Doxycycline is also widely used in treating Lyme. I've taken neither of those two. Depending on if/what co-infections the patient has, other meds/combinations can be effective. I've been on several different antibiotics, including minocylcine, azithromycin, and factive.
