Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics list drugs

antibiotics

Avatar n tn There is a long list of drugs not to take with sotalol. Some of the more common antibiotics like cipro and erythromycin are 2 that come to mind.
Avatar f tn It is on the safe list from my obgyn. I also researched it. Its fine in pregnancy. I'm just worried about a severe reaction that will cause bigger problems for me and my baby - throat swelling, etc.things that are highly unlikely. That's why my husband is irritated.
Avatar f tn My recollection of the information I read when my husband was going through the evaluation process for his transplant is that you will need to be sober 6 months before they will even put you on the transplant list. Once on the list, if you start drinking again you will be removed from the list and a new waiting period will begin again to ensure your sobriety. So it is very important that you not drink - not even a beer. Ask your doctor if he is a hepatologist or gastroenterologist.
Avatar n tn I am guessing you need some that do not prolong the QT interval, as the bradycardia can cause this. There are a variety of websites which list these drugs. But usually most penicillin, cephalosporins are thought to be safe, whereas macrolides, such as erythromycin, azithromycin, are thought not to be. Also the antifungals are also not safe ( all the ones ending in azole). Besides antibiotics there are many other drugs which can also prologue the QT interval which you should be careful with.

317787 tn?1473358451 The liver has very complicated functions and one of the most important is the detoxification of drugs such as antibiotics and its metabolites. Some antibiotics can cause allergic reactions while others can cause direct damage to their liver, which can be quite severe in patients with chronic liver disease.
Avatar f tn You can usually take Tylenol based products, but I would definitely check with your doctor first (they usually provide a list of approved medicines). You want to be careful during your first trimester with taking medicines though, so if possible, see if you can do without. If not, have your doctor make a recommendation.

Avatar f tn Also, be sure to inform all your doctors that you suffer from this condition, especially before taking antibiotics, allergy drugs or anti anxiety drugs, which often affect the QT interval. Also remember to seek immediate medical assistance if you feel severe palpitations, fainting, etc, and see your doctor if you experience an increase in PVCs. As you probably are aware of, LQTS can predispose for a serious arrhythmia.

666921 tn?1254990618 It could be the sensory overload issue that people with these kind of issues get. At my worst there was something about the fluorescent lights in the grocery store that would affect me. As soon as I walked in my legs would feel weak. The car issue could be motion sickness. People with lyme are more prone to it. It's on the symptom list.

The cytochrome P-450 3A4 enzyme breaks down grapefruit juice into useful components for body, just like it breaks down dozens of medications.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has had any heart rhythm problems attributed to antibiotics. I have pvcs/pacs, all tests, ekg, echo has come back completely normal. Im just worried about taking a new medication,, afraid it may cause the palpitations to be worse, better yet cause a dangerous arrythmia!! Any advice would be great!!
Avatar n tn Rankett is right on, DO NOT DRINK WHILE YOU ARE ON DRUGS. Especially on certain antibiotics - drinking can cause dangerous interactions with the drugs. I don't know if yours would have this kind of interaction, but for God's sake why even chance it? How long's your drug regimen? A week? Two? Surely you can go that long without drinking.
Avatar f tn I was given a list of drugs to review and stop taking any that I may be on for 10 days before procedure. I am having trouble determining whether my migraine medication, Imitrex, is one them. Sumitriptan and naproxen are not on the list, but since this drug narrows blood vessels, I wonder if it's best not to take it before surgery.
