Avatar n tn Antibiotics can kill good bacteria. That's why a woman can get a yeast infection when being treated with them. Some people do a yeast cleanse after antibiotic treatment. If your concerned you can always call your Dr and ask or check out a health food store for something to balance out your natural bacteria.
Avatar n tn Sometimes the antibiotics CAN kill too much of the good bacteria in the gut, but I am not familiar with pine nut oil OR Manuka honey, so be sure to talk to your vet before giving them to your dog since I don't know about their safety, and sometimes things that are perfectly safe for us to eat can be deadly for a dog or cat to eat. You can also talk to your vet about feeding your dog acidophilus yogurt or a product called BeneBac.
Avatar m tn I highly recommend against antibiotics unless you have symptoms and they think the antibiotics will kill off the bacteria causing these symptoms. Antibiotics will kill off all of the good bacteria too.

4798447 tn?1359319344 Most have the dormant HPylori bactera present in the stomach, when you are taking a regimen of antibiotics, they kill the good bacteria in the stomach, but are not strong enough to kill HPylori, the good bacteria that your body needs for digestion and to keep bad bacteria like HPylori at bay is gone, then Hpylori triggers your acid pumps to go into overtime, and the acid fumes build up air and gas,(Bloat)this bacteria thrives in stomach acid.
Avatar n tn Digestive bacteria keep yeast populations down. Antibiotics kill all bacteria in your system, even the beneficial, digestive bacteria allowing for an overgrowth of the yeast (yest infections of various sorts). For this reason it is recommended that you eat a lot of live culture yogurt when taking an antibiotic. In some cases, probiotics are needed to replenish the necessary, digestive bacteria. I hope that helps you some.
Avatar f tn Treatment with antibiotics kill the good stomach bacteria along with the bad (HPylori) during and after antibiotic treatment you should have been taking a good probiotic, they replace and replenish the good bacteria that the antibiotics kill off.
Avatar m tn Your gallbladder releases the bile to assist with digestion and some of the bile goes to your bowels to expell as waste. Antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria, and when too many of the good bacteria are killed, you can have diarrhea. You should buy from a pharmacy some probiotics that help replace the good bacteria. Probiotics are billons of cultures that are placed in your stomach and intestines to replace the good bacteria that were used up by the antibiotics.
Avatar f tn C-Diff You should get your stool checked out for C-Diff = C - difficile is a bacteria in your intestines. It is found normally in healthy and ill people alike. There are millions, perhaps billions of different types of bacteria in your body. Bacteria are an important part of your health. They help break down and digest food. They also ward off many "bad" or foreign bacteria that you may come in contact with.
Avatar f tn If you have been on any antibiotic treatment recently, they kill off the good bacteria that supresses HPylori bacteria in the stomache, many people have this bacteria and do not know it until antibiotics kill all good and bad, but this bacteria can survive some antibiotics, and the good bacteria cannot, so the HPylori thrives in and creates excess acid, which if left untreated can cause ulcers and stomache cancer in extreme cases, and because it increases acid, it can also irritate and burn the
Avatar f tn Not detrimental, but antibiotics kill all bacteria, both "good" and bad, so your balanced intestinal flora will be disturbed. But it is best not to take probiotics whilst taking antibiotics, it can make you feel sick to your stomach. Wait until you take the very last pill in your 14-day course of antibiotics, and then you can go back to your probiotics thing, which will help your digestion go back to normal.
Avatar m tn Livingit, I'm glad you found out what was causing the problem. After you've finished with the meds, wait a decent amount of time (ask the doc the time frame) and have a breath test to double-check that the bacteria have cleared. It's not always a single shot with some people. You may continue to have problems with gastritis after you finish the meds and for awhile. There's not time frames that anyone can give you to tell you how long it will be before things are better.
Avatar n tn hi i have a question, ive heard that antibiotics kill off the good bacteria, since may of this year i have been on keflex Twice, Cipro Twice, Doxycycline Twice, Bactrim Twice, Azthromycin Twice and have 3 rocephin shots. now thats alot of antibiotics, and i have noticed that i have some intertrigo yeast, under my stomach and in my crotch and scrotum area. is the antibiotics why?
Avatar f tn I agree it sounds like a yeast infection. Antibiotics often cause yeast infections, because they kill off beneficial bacteria in your vaginal tract. When you're healthy, yeasts and bacterias in your vaginal tract (called "flora") keep each other in check. When you're on strong antibiotics for a UTI it wipes out all the helpful bacteria and the yeast take over. Tell your doc and they will prescribe something for yeast.
Avatar f tn s list is HPylori bacteria, it thrives in the acid of the stomach.
Avatar f tn from what I have learned antibiotics can kill off the good bacteria we need to digest foods...ask ur dr about taking a probiotic. Good Luck !!
Avatar n tn A normal person rests between 3-4 mine were at 55-66 for the methane so they knew I had a large amount of bacteria creating air in my stomach. This often results from antibiotics which mess up your normal bacteria equation and bad bugs can sometimes take over. Normal doctors wanted to just tell me I had IBS but Mayo assured me that was not the case. Now the antibiotics Mayo gave me to kill the bad bugs worked temporarily but as soon as I started eating normally the bloating came back.
1453826 tn?1285180618 Acid reducers in OTC- form are available everywhere. Antibiotics kill microorganisms, but they also kill the good bacteria that watches over our gut. When you take several antibiotics a day for several days, you can later develop diarrhea and nausea. If you do take antibiotics a day, I offer for your consideration that you buy from a pharmacy probiotics to balance the bacteria in your stomach.
Avatar f tn , in that they are capable of killing bacteria across the to main classes of bacteria, it is also true that in some body locations and under certain circumstances the ability to kill bacteria may depend on other factors. Mastitis simply describes "infection of the mammary tissue", not a cause or a causative agent.
Avatar f tn Hey reese28 - sorry you're going through so much pain and misery.. I'm not an expert but I've heard H. pylori is a tough bug to kill sometimes (basically an ulcer that's what h pylori is and causes a stomach ulcer.. I bet if you eat something acidic you'd have an angry stomach..or after a heavy meal..) and usually they do a triple antibiotic therapy here in the states (which looks like what you are doing..). You might have had dark tarry stool right?
Avatar m tn Thanks I am not sure if its coryenebactria or not Doc didnt tell me what kindof bacteria it was . If it is those types and i use those antibotics you suggested will that kill the bacteria? and I have another question does that have an effect on redness? I have put cortison on an it takes the redness out, but when excited and erection it gets red and feels a little tender is that the bacteria or is that yeast from the antibotics killing the good yeast and letting the bad yeast grow?
Avatar m tn Antibiotics can wipe out deleterious bacteria, but they can also kill off the good bacteria that we need to keep things 'in line' in our digestive tracts. Call your doc and ask to have a stool test done to check for any post-antibiotic-related-issues. To be safe, you may want to ask to have the stool test include one for C. difficile. That one needs to be done in triplicate, but it could be a very important test.
Avatar f tn Let us know what he says. Antibiotics kill the good bacteria as well as the bad. So this lets yeast overgrow. I have not had any problems with yeast just eating yogurt daily so I can't comment on the Floraster as I have no experience with it.
Avatar m tn I think that would be very unusual, as antibiotics only kill bacteria, and have no effect on the brain.
Avatar f tn Antibiotics, while they kill the bad infection causing bacteria, also kill all the good bacteria in your GI tract. They are renowned for causing GI upset. Unfortunately in the case of a UTI stronger broad spectrum antibiotics are usually needed since the bacteria that causes them can be a bit more resistant.
Avatar f tn In order to kill Yeast, you need Antifungals
Avatar f tn You may already know this -- If you are taking bacteria-based probiotics (like acidophilus), the antibiotics will kill the (good bacteria) probiotics along with the (bad bacteria) Lyme if they are taken too close together in time. How close is too close I don't know. My LLMD insisted on patients taking Florastor, which is a yeast-based probiotic not affected by antibiotics.
