no in doctors surgery they tested my water then it was sent off to lab been back to doctors today still in pain still got infection changed antibiotics to penicillin got to try them for a week

I am prone to kidney infections too. Most likely the antibiotics are breaking up the infection that was in the kidney....the pain you feel it the kidney healing it self abf exiting the infection! If you still have the pain after you have finished your Meds contact your doctor! Also push lots and lots of water!

I went to urgent care the other day because I was having really bad pain in my low back and could barely walk. The doctor said I had a Kidney infection and prescribed me antibiotics. My question is I have been taking them for 3 days now twice a day and been drinking lots of water, but my pain is still there it hasnt went away. Also when I woke up this morning I went pee and my right side hurt really bad for atleast 10 mins.

I ended up in even more pain Saturday evening and they admitted me and finally realized it was a kidney infection. I spent from Saturday night until Wednesday afternoon. I was on iv antibiotics and iv fluids the whole time. I was discharged with instructions for modified bed rest and had to take macrobid the rest of my pregnancy to avoid it reoccurring. I ended up having my son at 35 weeks.

Antibiotics for UTIs and kidney infections are often the same ones, so hopefully if it is a kidney infection it clears it up too. I've had a kidney infection before and it was terrible pain :/ Hope you get sorted out and feel better soon!

hi vicki, i suffer with chronic kidney disease and i think you still have a kidney infection by the sounds of your symptons and the swelling of your ankles may well have something to do with your kidneys as i myself get swollen ankles when i have a kidney infection the specialist can tell you more as everyone differs hope i was of some use gud luck linzi!!!

Well I just found out I have a uti which I start antibiotics today. But what if it became a kidney infection. I mean ive been peeing alot since im drinking more water.

Does anyone know if it is possible to still have a kidney infection after rounds of antibiotics like Cipro and Levaquin? Every time I go to the ER they tell me that my urine is free of bacteria but contains white blood cells. I have extreme flank pain and abdominal pain.

I'd go back to the clinic as it could be that it is a kidney infection and the bacteria are resistant to the antibiotics you have. I know you don't want to cancel your trip but your health must come first!

A UTI is nothing to play around with. Left untreated it can travel to the kidneys and cause a kidney infection that can be dangerous to both you and your child. Amoxicillin is one of the most widely prescribed antibiotics during pregnancy and has not been shown to cause any harm to a human fetus. Take the medication to clear up the infection, the last thing you want is for it to get worse.

Definitely take the antibiotics. Uti is something that needs antibiotics to cure and if it goes untreated then can develop into a kidney problem which in some cases can cause early labour. Much safer to take the meds. I've been on the same antibiotics twice during this pregnancy and am now 36+ weeks and baby is perfectly healthy.

You could have an obstruction or an infection in the kidney. I was quite close to dying from kidney failure when I was given the wrong antibiotics to take. This is nothing to mess around with. Please go to the ER, see a urologist, GP or urgent care.

it sounds like a water infection you need to go to the doctors for treatment before it gets worse and causes a bad infection in the kidneys,make sure you are drinking alot of fluids to it helps to flush it away

m am ANTI antibiotics.....but when I was 13 weeks pregnant I got a really bad Infection from a broken wisdom tooth and had to take them to kill infection before having it pulled. I'm now 38weeks and my Daughter is fine, although I was Leary. An infection in way more detrimental then The antibiotics.

s from what our Urologists have told us is because of likely biofilm infection deep inside kidney stones which are produced by those who have MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) on an ongoing basis? The stones are a by-product of MSK and are deep within the medullary and take a long time (if ever) to pass out. The antibiotics taken seem to rid the UTI for awhile only for them to come back continuosly.

Hi Dr.I have a history of repeat kidney infection ( four since Jan).I am seeing a specialist in May. My problem is since the last infection(March 24th), every evening, about 5.00pm I have a return of symptoms but not as severe.I have pain in the groin area, frequency, feeling un-well but no blood in my urine.It last for most of the night but feel fine by the morning. Infection may be pyelonephritis (involving upper urinary tract), urethritis, uretitis, cystitis (lower urinary tract) etc. Presence of Anatomic abnormalities resulting in obstruction, stasis, or reflux of urinary flow all predisposes towards recurrent urinary infections.

On Tuesday I saw my family doc ( my gastro always says to see my family doc) and this time on top of the kidney infection I have some really bad wheezing and he said infection in my lungs and sinuses. More antibiotics. He also said all bladder infections stem from different types of ecoli. Now here is my question. I currently have a kidney infection and a uti. The uti turned into a kidney infection because it didn't bother me so I didn't know I had it. Went to the ER for something different and found out then.

I never had a kidney infection but at 29 weeks I had kidney stones that caused my urine to be pure blood and contractions that required magnesium to stop. I would go in just in case.
