antibiotics

Avatar n tn How long had you had them in your system for? I think it's usually an hour or less it it didn't have a sugar coat or a capsule. If it had a sugar coat or a capsule it would take longer as they are slow dissolving do it doesn't release to much in your body st once.

Avatar n tn The spinal tap is to see if its in his central nervous system. We go to the neurologist next week and then we will set up for the other tests. This is so new to me.
Avatar n tn Hi. I've had lyme in nervous system for 6 years. Trust me, symptoms can get much worse. I also got severe motor, cognitive problems, sever depression, and extreme sensitivity to sensory stimulation, which kept me very isolated socially. The fatigue makes things worse, so allow yourself to do less, rest, rest, rest. What you describe is typical for early on. Get on antibiotics asap. Spect good idea. Avatar m tn Why would you knowingly expose yourself again? Were you diagnosed with gonorrhea or did you just self medicate?
Avatar f tn There is usually a co-factor, such as a depressed immune system. Bear in mind that a urinary tract infection may result from any one of several varieties of bacteria. Some of these critters are more dangerous than others. In some cases something as simple as drinking fresh cranberry juice and reinforcing your immune system with vitamin C and D3 can be sufficicient to solve the problem. In other cases medication may be necessary.
1296191 tn?1280699873 I catch every single infection that goes around school, and I had strep throat for the first time in my life back in January of 2010. It took two rounds of antibiotics to get rid of the strep (since my lymph node started swelling literally the day after I finished the first round of antibiotics and got swollen rapidly), which is quite rare in my doctor's experience. The doctor also did blood work to check the amount of white blood cells in my body, and that number was low.
Avatar f tn Antibiotics can royally mess with your digestive system. Go to the drugstore and get some probiotics - something like Culturelle - and start taking them as directed. They may give you a hand with the discomfort.
Avatar n tn I have had severe UTI all my life and have been hospitalized twice for kidney infections. My urologist keeps trying new antibiotics to stop the infections (which I take daily) but they never work. My urologist did a test where they pump dye into my bladder and then I void in order to see if I was refluxing. The test came back to show that I was not refluxing.
Avatar m tn Hi I've tested negative for HIV and other std's. At the time I took the test I just funished a course of antibiotics (can't remember the name). I had been on two different courses of antibiotics a month or so before the third course. This was all due to a persistent throat infection. I've read that anti biotics would not affect the HIV results, is this also true when the docs had me on and off antibiotics at around the time of my exposure?
Avatar f tn Hi all Letting you all know 4 weeks into my antibiotics and I have lost my brain bobbing in water feeling, pressure and pain in head, dizziness and eye dizziness has greatly reduced, and now I can look down without it worsening, my whole head feels lighter and brighter. I had all these symptons 24/7 since before 2007. It is fantastic to sit and watch tv without the constant feeling of movement in my head and to go to bed without it too.
443974 tn?1224589328 echinacea works for me with certain infections. i got rid of a knee infection (cellulitis) and an ear infection with it. didn't take the antibiotics. i may have boosted the echinacea with bromelain, though (but bromelain can cause rapid heartbeat in some people, and i've decided by now that i'm allergic to it as i get itchy throat and other symptoms from it, possibly swollen glands too). however, some can get rashes or headaches, if i'm not mistaken.
4451049 tn?1387153437 Lyme bacteria also have the ability to hide from the immune system, and that means a longer hunt for them in the biofilms they create to avoid detection by the immune system. Lyme also hides in cartilage, where there is low blood flow and the immune system doesn't penetrate there as it would other kinds of tissue. Most common bacterial infections are cured in a couple of weeks or so, but there are others like Lyme and tuberculosis in which treatment time is counted in months, not weeks.
Avatar f tn please people DO NOT take antibiotics they are what cause the illness in the first place! yes doctors say there is "no cure" and you have to "learn to live with your disease" well thats all bs they just want to drill all that into your head but the truth is if you want to get cured you CAN!
Avatar f tn Any infection of the urinary system is treated with antibiotics, pain medications and fluids. However it is not something that can be treated at home. There are various tests like urine examination, ultrasound or CT scan that need to be done to diagnose. Please discuss your case with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining and a detailed history of symptoms. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.
Avatar m tn She is put on heavy Antibiotics. It might have developed due to poor immunity system when her White Blood count fell drastically for which she was treated few weeks before. They are in Thane, India. Can anybody advice how this is treated to cure asap. If surgery is the option, what needs to be taken care before and after the surgery ? Thanks and appreciate your response.
Avatar n tn Judy, pick up some probiotics and give them a try. Antibiotics can knock the good bacteria in your system for a loop and that can cause changes in bowel functions. Try something like Culturelle and finish out the whole pack. Take the probiotics at LEAST 2-3 hours after taking any antibiotics, if you've still taking them.
1067297 tn?1255030564 Z-Pak is a newer protocol docs are using (well at least up here in canada, everyone knows how ignorant the canadian health care system is towrd lyme).. good luck!
5569754 tn?1376854288 My LLMD was an all-antibiotics-all-the-time kind of doc, so I can't speak to the herbal approach from a doc. Did he indicate that he would add in antibiotics later? Maybe he's just building your immune system in preparation for antibiotics or something like that. It's a very fair question to ask the doc. When do you go back for the next appointment?
578743 tn?1218554217 t have a clue why she has symptoms like that. Her immune system is needed to fight whatever she is fighting and antibiotics are just supressing her immune system. Some doctors have no CLUE what to do ...and write prescription to pretend they know. Please find other GOOD doctor who will take care of your precious doughter not poison her with unnecessary medication. Sunes.
Avatar f tn I went to the ER 5 times and was prescribed 3 different antibiotics and given antibiotics in house for STDs that came back with a negative result. In early November, I had a UTI and was given Cipro for 3 days. That did not help. I went back and they gave me Cipro for 10 days. That did not help. Then they gave me Levaquin for 7 days. I finished all of the antibiotics but I am still experiencing flank pain (upper abdominal, lower pelvic area, and upper and lower back).
Avatar f tn My ob keeps prescribing me antibiotics for a uti... even though I don't have symptoms of one.
676606 tn?1229937962 Ok I have a long question...I have a 3year old daughter....she is in daycare...she has always seemed to be more sick then my other two children..at 7weeks she was hospitalized for RSV...and the months to follow it was illness after another...croup, fifth disease, rotroviruses, recurrent ear infections, and lots of "colds"....Last feb. started a long long road...she was seen at the er...with sinusitis and strep throat...the thing is she never got better...
1901977 tn?1333991726 I was trying to tough it out but my upper respiratory infection has moved down into my chest and with my asthma, the doctor is really worried about it turning into pneumonia and just put me on the "Z-Pack" (Azithromycin)antibiotics. I'm in my 12th week right now, and really worried about taking them. But the doctor says if my breathing goes bad or I get pneumonia that's much worse for the baby...so I just took my first dose tonight.
Avatar m tn Do you agree with the bold move. I even feel daily antibiotics could be damaging. Doctors are split on this, I understand they do not want to risk. One doctor even agreed to stop the antibiotics after 6 months, but when I visited him last suddenly felt I could keep taking; I felt the decision was more driven by ‘what if I am not doing the right thing?’, so did not want to take unnecessary risks. What is your suggestion?
Avatar m tn Also, Lyme has a trick of cloaking itself in slimy shields in the body called biofilms, which make it hard for the antibiotics to find them. That's one reason LLMDs often treat with combinations of antibiotics, one to break the biofilm, the other to kill the Lyme inside. Finally, any coinfections may need different meds than Lyme, because the coinfections are not necessarily susceptible to the same antibiotics.
