1938766 tn?1323716554 t ever eat Natural Balance (LID) dry food ever again and was put on antibiotics for two weeks. She is fine now. The antibiotics started helping almost right away, because her breath improved greatly. So, now, it's strictly canned Wellness grain free. She does very well on that. The vet also had me start giving Akira salmon oil for constipation and hair balls. If you can't get animal grade salmon oil, she said it's fine to give human grade salmon oil.
Avatar n tn Prime example my dog highly allergic to chicken, beef and was on a salmon and rice diet doing great. Went to buy a labeled salmon rice canned food to mix with the dry and read the label guess what 3 ingredients in was chicken ??? I was furious I wrote the manufacturer. Imagine I didn't read that and gave it to him, what a flare up of infection he would have had. Anyway read labels. Try strict diet for 8-10 weeks if no change find a dermatologist for allergy testing.
681148 tn?1437661591 I've taken Hunter in to see the vet twice. The latest was just today. My poor baby had a painful bout of diarrhea on Friday. He let out a howl like I've never heard from him before. The vet saw him on Saturday and again today. On Saturday he was prescribed antibiotics and probiotics. Today he was prescribed a pain medication. He was given subcutaneous fluids both times he saw the vet that had vitamin B12. Today they also gave him a pain medication.
862235 tn?1336060295 t contain the high levels of Omega 3 fatty acids that plankton-eating wild salmon do. In addition, farmed salmon flesh has been found to contain unhealthy levels of toxic PCBs. So eat wild-caught salmon. I have read that eating farmed salmon has a net negative effect on human health. In other words, it is worse for your health to eat farmed salmon than it is to eat no salmon at all. Frozen salmon will always say on the label whether it is farmed or wild-caught.
907968 tn?1292622204 With salmon, though, to the best on my knowledge - farm raised salmon is depleted of the benefits that really make salmon a great health choice. Salmon from the sea is the way to go for the Omega 3 oils and other nutrients that come from life in the sea. There are limits to how much you should eat per week due to mercury in the fish. You can research this on the web. I had a quintuple bypass 2 years ago at age 49. No more fried or buttery food for me. Plus lots of veggies and fruit.

Avatar f tn m quiet tender in the bottom of my stomach after yesterday, is this normal? Basically in pain since I got the sweep but it's constant not just contractions?
Avatar f tn Yeaterday I had sushi and within 2 hrs my lymph gland under my chin and the back of my head were swollen and slightly painful. Anyone else that has food allergies, is this common? I used to get swollen lymph glands before and was tested via blood and CT and by an endocrinologist and no concerns. Used to have sushi a lot during that time, but haven't had in a long time - and then last night they instantly got swollen again.
Avatar f tn My Dr told me specifically to stay away from salmon of any kind because it's high in something....mercury I think. I was disappointed to hear that.
Avatar f tn I do actually know someone who reacts badly to salmon but seems to be able to tolerate white fish and all those crustaceans that I myself can't eat. I don't know if he did allergy testing or if he went with how he reacted to various fishes, but I do know that salmon will make him very sick to his stomach. So, he definitely can't eat salmon. Every time he tried in the past he paid for it. That would be a good enough reason to not like salmon for him.
Avatar f tn some farm raised seafood have traces of antibiotics in them, from the food that they feed them You have to be careful with the deli things like mussels in brine, cold meats t/a cooked chicken, pre-prepared/stored salad as this can have listeria.

592969 tn?1248325405 I will not feed salmon to my cats in the future, just in case that is what caused it. He is feeling better now with the antibiotics and is acting totally normal. He has follow-up blood work in three weeks, as this hepatitis can be a lfietime problem. I hope his bloodwork is normal and the bilirubin is down in three weeks.
12832842 tn?1448728801 I think there might be a typo which would explain why i'm having difficulty finding anything.....do you mean 'Astaxanthin'?
Avatar n tn But if you are avoiding smoked salmon, I assume it is because of the heavy metals in the Atlantic fishery, that come out in fish. Cooking will not remove those. You really need to know why you have been told to avoid certain things, to know what to do about eating them after they have been cooked.
Avatar f tn and has a ton of chemicals in it. Also, farm raised salmon is far less rich in omega-3 fatty acids which aids in brain and neurological development in a fetus. That is kinda the point of eating salmon (to get omega-3 fatty acids)... so make sure it is WILD. If you look for those 2 things you will be fine. You really should only eat approximately 4-6 oz. of fish a week though. 4-6 oz. is only about the size of your palm... so it really isn't a whole lot.
Avatar f tn I was just reading up on fish. Salmon is perfectly fine to eat when pregnant as long as it is fully cooked. Enjoy!
