Avatar n tn No virus is inhibited by neosporin or any other antibiotics. By definition, antibiotics are active only against bacteria and some fungi and parasites, not viruses. The moisturizing effect of the other ingredients in Neosporin (or in any other ointment or cream) might make an oral herpes lesion feel better sooner, but they have no effect whatsoever on speed of healing and do not reduce the amount of virus in the lesion.
Avatar m tn well reading up trying to figure it out it might be a boil or ingrown hair.
447057 tn?1205259823 After getting a cut few days ago on my forearm, I applied Neosporin to aid in the healing process. The first thing that I noticed right away was the irch. I thought it wasjust healing, so I thought little of it. By the next day it was getting oozy and developing bumps. The next day I was afraid it could be a staph infection (since its going around) and I went to the doctor. They told me that I was allergic to Neosporin.
Avatar n tn Applying an antibiotic to a cut on your head will not dry out your hair. If the cut is very large, you should get it medically seen to. Apply the antibiotic or antiseptic cream as directed on the packet and should you notice it start to hurt more or start to weep with puss, get a doctor to look at it. Try and not wash you hair until the wound has healed. Wounds need to be clean, but also kept dry to heal properly.
Avatar f tn If it was the ointment kind of Neosporin, for me I think that would block pores in my mucus membranes and make little bumps. You need to use real lubrication instead of substitutes. The oral antibiotics can certainly cause yeast infection and cause you to want to use lubrication because yeast will ruin viscosity and make sex uncomfortable. See your gynecologist.
Avatar f tn Do not use soap, alcohol or things that will dry the area. Use vaginal cleansing foam and apply topical antibiotics like Neosporin. Consult a physician if the symptoms persist as you may need oral antibiotics. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn A few days ago I fell on the road and scrapped my knee. Its been irritated ever since then. There's a SMALL amount of heat around the area and it's also red around the area. There is a yellow film that covers the main injury and it wont come off. I cleaned it with peroxide to make sure there was no dirt and then i put neosporin on it with a large bandage. I don't know how to get the picture on here so I can't show you. Am i taking care of it correctly?

Avatar m tn It could be turning into to staph infection. The tiny hole is what makes me think that. Watch out and make sure that hole doesn't start looking black. If it is staph you better get to the doctor and get antibiotics or you're gonna be in some real pain. But anytime you have some weird spots in that area it's best you get checked by a doctor anyway!
Avatar f tn I started cleaning the are with Hydrogen Peroxide and applying Neosporin (+pain cream) with Bandaid Clear. I noticed it wasn't healing normally and I started to see little bumps around the area. I noticed that when I didn't use the Bandaid, I didn't get as many bumps and it seemed to itch less. I did some looking and found it could be an allergic reaction, so I switched bandages.

Avatar f tn ve tried baby oil and now have resorted to neosporin. Before the neosporin, the bumps spread up to my knuckles. The bumps are barely noticeable and don't really itch only sometimes burn. I'm not sure if it's because of the water we clean dishes with at work or if it's due to the weather. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
