Avatar n tn Hi Aidens_Mom, Ya it's new to me also that asthma causes a 103 degree fever! Asthma can lead to pneumonia but not the other way around. When steroids are inhaled into the lungs to treat asthma it creates an immune suppression and can make the person more susceptible to infection. This is a scary thing for a mother not to mention your son and should be investigated further. I would recommend they refer you to a Immunologist, and have the level of antibodies your son has evaluated.
Avatar f tn my daughter is 3 months old ,she has been passing mucus in stools for about 4 weeks now and some times there are spots of blood in the mucus ,I took her to the doc but not found the cause yet
Avatar n tn Her gastro doctor had her tested for this due to frequent vomiting (she still grew at an impressive rate and was in good spirits most days). Is vomiting a common sympton of c diff in infants? She is on antibiotics right now and I am very hopeful that this will cure her of her frequent vomiting. Also, she has never had diarhea, as a matter of fact, she has been constipated since she was 3 months old and has been given a dose of Myrilax daily. Can c diff also be the cause of constipation?
1361044 tn?1277598308 Honestly, in my opinion, babies are so wrapped up in this new world, all the new things going in for them, that a little cold (virus) hardly slows them down. it could be your baby is behind because she doesn't feel well all the time, and THAT is holding her back. Maybe not, but in either case I would push for them to figure it out. Chalking it all down to a virus is a lazy, sorry excuse. My point is, YOU DO know your child more than anyone.
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
Avatar n tn Ever since my child started pre-k she has always been sick. Every month she is on antibiotics. I don't know what to do. I went to a specialist and he said everything is fine. Since September it's been the same problem every month either strept throat or sinus. She just got strept throat 7 days ago and is taking antibiotics with only three days left, today her ear started hurting and shes been caughing.
Avatar f tn Children with mild hydronephrosis caused by mild obstructions may simply be monitored by renal ultrasound and VCUG and receive no treatment, as the problem is likely to correct itself. Infants will probably undergo these imaging tests at around 2-3 months of age. Surgery relieves the obstruction or reflux causing hydronephrosis. " www.childrenshospital.org/az/Site1117/mainpageS1117P0.html The resolution of the hydronephrosis depends on the factors causing it and their management.
Avatar f tn My son, who is 7 months old, was recently diagnosed with Chiari Malformation. The diagnosis was confirmed on Mar 10, 2014 and he was also diagnosed with hydrocephalus. Anyone have this happen with an infant? I'm trying to figure out what the next steps are in the event of an increase in fluid and pressure. He also is having to see a pediatric eye doctor to check the eye pressure in his eyes.
Avatar m tn CalGal is right, the newer toxins are becoming more virulent and tougher for Primary Care physicians to knock out - my doc and I have learned together. I didnt see a specialist because I did in fact respond to the antibiotics and stableize, but my doctor kept in very close contact during this period - go with the doctor you feel most comfortable with for your little angel, make him/her hear your concerns. Has the baby tested positive since finishing Vanco?
Avatar n tn It's normal for infants and small children to have numerous colds that can linger for weeks. Most colds and ear infections are viral and antiobiotics are ineffective and can actually help in the creation of superbugs. Docs will often prescribe them to calm the parent. Just relax and wait it out. If this is your first child, your anxiety may be much higher than is necessary.
Avatar n tn my wife is 40 weeks pregnant, I have been diagnosed with whooping cough, and been taking antibiotics for 8 days now to be safe. My wife is developing a small cough tonight. I have medication here, we have both been tested and results for her will come in two days. My question is, we are worried she will go into labour, and not be able to care for the baby. would it be better for her to start the medication now as a precaution and stop if the tests say she has not got it? Will it harm the baby?
Avatar f tn It will remain in baby's system. Especially if you took them for more than 2 weeks. You need to let your OB know even if it leaves both systems because if you we're abusing them and taking them for a long period of time we can't diagnose the outcome. No judgement, but please for the sake of your innocent baby tell your Dr. You made the right decision to stop taking them. Best wishes!
Avatar f tn Fluid develops in the small sac surrounding the testicle. Its fairly common in infants and typically resolves on its own. Sometimes it may need drained but it will likely just be watched to make sure it will resolve on its own within a few months.
Avatar f tn I am in a third world country that usually test for the obvious STDs like gonohrea and syphillis etc..i am not sure about trichomonas../i have never even heard about until day before yesterday, before i met my husband i was sexually active, could i have contracted this through them ??
7479298 tn?1391160752 I have just been told I have group b strep. Really upset me I'm 37 weeks pregnant. Midwife said I need a course if anti biotics now and my doctor said I don't need them. But I have still got to have iv antibiotics during Labour. Any1 else in this situation.
Avatar f tn I had strep b with my son and I have it again with my daughter. its normal for women to get this, it doesn't mean you have an std, it's a bacterial infection. At the hospital they'll give you antibiotics through an iv during labor, I ended up having a cesarean with my son so it wouldn't have matterered anyway, you'll be fine and your baby will be healthy..... There's nothing you could have done differently if you do get it.
