Avatar f tn Does anyone know if its ok to take antibiotics with riba? I'm not sure if I should take a dose of each together or should I wait and take the antibiotic (Avelox 400mg) separately. I'd rather take them together because each should be taken with food and I don't have much appetite so when I do manage to eat I'd like to get all the drugs down at once. Any input would be helpful.
12629092 tn?1426354227 Hi Sparkle, You are pretty wonderful for taking on this elderly cat. These poor cats all too often end up in Rescues where they just wither away alone . No one want to adopt them so they live their lonely days out without the love and care of their human whom they loved. I wondered sometimes if they ever really wanted to continue living without someone to love them one on one. VERY Sad. So now you have this cat who is very lucky to be with you and cared for by you.

Avatar n tn Although it is possible for any age person to have bladder cancer, it is far more common in the elderly. Nonetheless, any person with even microscopic blood in the urine requires three tests: 1. Urine culture and cytology to look for infection and abnormal cells 2. CT scan or MRI of the kidney and pelvis to look for kidney lesions and lymph node enlargement 3. Cystoscopy - A small camera to inspect the inside of the bladder for any abnormalities.

Avatar n tn My mother-in-law was recently hospitalized after a routine colonoscopy punctured her colon. She had emergency surgery and while recovering in ICU, she wasn't able to maintain a 92 for oxygen. The doctors did tests (blood, CT scans, etc). She was just told she has cystic fibrosis. Is this possible? She is 64 years old, has 6 healthy adult children, is a life-long smoker who has only been hospitalized once about 15 years ago for polyps due to respiratory problems.
Avatar n tn I have an elderly cat (not sure what her actual age is as she was an adult stray when we got her), but I've had her for about 12 years now. She has a few problems that I would like some advice on, if at all possible... Problem 1: Her back hips have always had some problems, but I've found that she's now having trouble jumping onto my bed i.e. when landing onto the bed she will lift her back left leg up for a while and this can cause her to fall over.

Avatar f tn According to an article in the international journal Research on Aging in 2009, the elderly population in China will have tripled by 2050. Norway and China are in many ways extreme opposites when it comes to family policy. Under China's policy responsibility for the family rests entirely with families themselves. There are almost no institutions for the elderly, and few elderly people receive pensions.

Avatar n tn I am being met with resistance and am concerned that the attending physician is completely in the dark about several studies regarding the negative effects of these particular drugs in elderly patients with dementia, or any helpful alternatives. Are there any alternatives to using antipsychotic medications in this case? I have a hard time believing he is being kept in this state for other than that it makes him less work for the staff. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn No, I don't think so it is the symptom of end of life. I lived with my father in law who was 94 years old when he came in. He's healthy, only with asthma. He offered help me to sweep the floor/yard. Hanging and picking up the clothes. He also concentrated on the weather make sure he picked up the clothes before it rained. He'll miss if he slept all the day long! LOL. He liked sleep (usually longer hour than us).
Avatar n tn I started going to an actual gyno who is an elderly man, figure he has more experience and I had heard great things about him. He told me it was reoccurring Bacteria vaginosis, I was on 3 an antibiotic 3 times with 10' days between each and two pills a day I think. Maybe one, it's been a month can't remember. I've tried probiotics. Anyone else suffered from this? I need tips and to know I am not alone. He said this is very common. But I fee so alone in this.
Avatar m tn She has been keeping to herself and getting up for food/water recently, but today, I came home to find her lying despondant on the heating vent (low heat), she is breathing regularly and seems just tired and not too interested in my presence. This is very out of character. I'm not sure what is wrong with her hind end...something for sure...What could it be/what should I do?
Avatar f tn Hello, Bad breath, also called halitosis, is typically caused by bacteria that grow in your mouth. Short-term bad breath may be associated with tonsillitis, gastroenteritis, acid reflux, diabetic ketoacidosis, or sinus infection. Chronic halitosis may be caused by poor oral hygiene, gingivitis (gum disease),oropharyngeal infections or a dental abscess. These antibiotics are useful only if bad breath is caused due to infections. If the cause is other diseases then antibiotics are not useful.
328799 tn?1276565732 It will replinish all the good bacteria in your gut that antibiotics kills off. And we need as much good bacteria as we can get. Sweet heart, if you obsess and worry about your self constantly, you may need to be put on anti anxiety medication. Also, I would greatly encourage you to get your mind off yourself by volunteering your time helping others. When your feeling well, go one day a week (after school, or on Saturday) and volunteer your time helping someone else...i.e.

Avatar n tn My Mom is 92 years old. Has been living on her own in Elderly housing for 20 years. Her dementia consisted of repeating and repeating, forgetting who visited, etc. but went throughout her normal activities w/some services very well and very happiy. Always knew us but was starting to forget other people but after prompting she would be ok. 3 weeks ago she developed a very severe resistant UTI and then got c-dift (not sure how to spell that). Anyway ended up dilusional, confused, etc.
