Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics in development

antibiotics

Avatar m tn Hi I've tested negative for HIV and other std's. At the time I took the test I just funished a course of antibiotics (can't remember the name). I had been on two different courses of antibiotics a month or so before the third course. This was all due to a persistent throat infection. I've read that anti biotics would not affect the HIV results, is this also true when the docs had me on and off antibiotics at around the time of my exposure?
Avatar f tn I am being treated for a urinary infections with both antibiotics (Cipro) and antivirals (valtrex) because the cause is unknown. My question is, is it safe to mix both medicines?
Avatar m tn She had Viral meningitis (Undetectable virus) at 50 days old for which she was in ICU for 3 days. In her 7th month she had cold and otitis media of one ear for which she was given antibiotics. First 5-6 months, she had GERD for which we used Zantac when ever needed. Her development : Every thing was normal until her cold in 7th month. she was rolling over frequently before that infection.
Avatar n tn Would it be possible for someone to have an infectous syphilis lesion in/on or around their mouth if the last time they performed oral sex on someone was back in 2009? Could they infect someone in the last 4 months?
1691275 tn?1322327507 There are no contraindications whatsoever to taking two antibiotics and a strong arguement to continue with the first antibiotic as per doctor's orders and simultaneously take the second. There are slight variants in the way both antibiotics attack replication of bacteria. If you fail to complete the amoxcillin you risk developing an amoxcillan resistant strain. Generally medical practice is not to over-use antibiotics to prevent the development of resistant strains.
2030686 tn?1351688548 I think you should call your doctor tomorrow morning and get an appointment ASAP. Tell the doc you are on amoxicillin and tell him/her your symptoms, especially the diarrhea which is mostly mucous. (The mucous can be a serious symptom so it should get his attention.) They should be able to get you in to see him/her right away. (Your symptoms may be normal but they could be serious so I would really encourage you to get seen tomorrow.
Avatar n tn Now the further development is I can feel some tissue development inside and some redness on skin. The pain persists. In the morning it was sensitive to touch.( pain only when touched by hand or by clothes.) but now it is paining continuously. what is GERD?
Avatar n tn My pregnant ***** got into a fight, I'm concerned about infection in both her and the babies. What antibiotic is safe for a pregnant female? She's early in her pregnancy about 26 days.
Avatar f tn The darkening spots are called chloasma, and are normal in pregnancy. I'm confused about two rounds of antibiotics for your white tongue - antibiotics actually lead to yeast over growth, they don't cure it.
Avatar f tn My drs and radiologists said my baby is in the 98%percentile as of last week so they may have to deliver earlier since I wanted a vbac but because the baby is so large it may not be safe to deliver normally in case my csec scar tears.... My question is, just because the baby is measuring big does that mean he's necessarily more developed? His time in my tummy is precious and I don't want him to come any sooner than he needs to.
Avatar f tn The new standard in the US is 39 weeks.

Avatar f tn I am barely showing in tight shirts at 28 weeks and my little girl is perfectly fine and on track growth wise. I used to think the same thing. This is my first time, too.
Avatar m tn The antibiotics work by interrupting the formation of the cell walls of the bacteria, and they will be in varying stages of development. That's why viruses can't be "cured" by abx. No cell wall. Syphilis and chlamydia are also bacterial type critters.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure what bv is. But I've had to take antibiotics to clear up a uti I had early in my pregnancy.
Avatar n tn These medicines may have a side effect in the long term and if you are young it may also impact your physical development. Strong from inside shows from outside. Build a good immunity, eat right, clean and healthy. And I think it is better to resort to natural products for relief. And mostly with time the conditions improve with age. It is best to stop after you have completed your dose for the time prescribed by an expert.
Avatar m tn because drug resistance has been rising and few new antibiotics are in development, said Dr. M. Lindsay Grayson, director of infectious diseases at the University of Melbourne in Australia. "It's just a matter of time" until the gene spreads more widely person-to-person, he said. Grayson heads an American Society for Microbiology conference in Boston, which was buzzing with reports of the gene, called NDM-1 and named for New Delhi. The U.S.
Avatar f tn I have no symtoms at all like fever, back pain, pain during urinating. I have been advised to take antibiotics amoxillion, but I am scared to death to take antiobiotics since it may cause risk for the fetus especially in the early development stage. If I dont take medication, there is slight risk of miscarriage and pre-mature delivery. Dont know what to do at this stage. I have been drinking tonnes of barley water, cranberry juice and regular water. But the infection is still not gone.
Avatar n tn I noticed a tick on me about a week ago and I quickly removed it. I was outside in my backyard the night before so I assume it attached itself to me then so it was on me for about 12-24 hours. It is now a week later and I do not have a rash or anything. However, I has somewhat of a scratchy throat. I am probably being paranoid about this. Is a scratchy throat a sympton of Lyme? I have no fever, aches, pain, etc. Just a scratchy throat. I guess it be a cold coming on or even allergies.
518733 tn?1333017015 Kflex is safe- two antibiotics to AVOID in pregnancy would be- deoxycycline (spell?) or tetracycline, which are known to have risks. Otherwise- if the dr prescribing the antibiotics isn't your OB be sure to let your OB know that you were prescribed a new medication, they may have their own preference of what you should and should not take- and always ask the pharmacist if you are unsure about any medication..
