Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics in dairy products

antibiotics

Avatar f tn I have NEVER had an issue with dairy products. However through my pregnancy I feel as though I'm almost developing a mild intolerance to it. It wasnt bad in the beginning, but now at 37 weeks any time I take in dairy it upsets my stomach. Kinda makes me afraid that my little one may also have an allergy to dairy then since I plan to breast feed. Any one else ever encounter this??
Avatar f tn Hi I am 33 weeks and every time I eat milk ice cream cheese or drink anything with dairy products In it I am in the bathroom a half hour after with really bad diarrhea What could that be
Avatar m tn I live in Germany and this is the first time I have been prescribed antibiotics in Germany. The dentist, the chemist and my partner all told me not the eat or drink milk products whilst taking the antibiotics. The medicine is Clindamycin AbZ 300 mg tablets. I have spoken to my family in the UK and searched the internet and can nothing about taking milk based products and antibiotics together. Is this a German idea? Please can you offer some information.
Avatar m tn I used to avoid dairy products(except buttermilk) and added sugars as far as possible in view of my family history of cholesterol and diabetes.Still I am on statin 10 mg on alternate days. Now I have perfect lipid profile.Does the complete avoidance of dairy products have any adverse effects on my system.
Avatar n tn But giving up all dairy products is just smart. All dairy cows produce a lot of estrogen just to produce milk. Forget the fact that they are given de-wormers, antibiotics, growth hormones and such. And animal estrogen isn't a good thing. Then there comes the debate about phytoestrogens in plants. Soy for instance .... so many studies and so many different answers! Keep everything in moderation and you will do well. I actually take a drug called neurontin for hot flashes.
Avatar f tn Is it weird that dairy products are the only thing I can seem to consume without feeling bloated, nauseous, and or groggy?
Avatar m tn t believe how few doctors warn their patients who are allergic to penicillin to avoid foods that may contain penicillin - and that would be most poultry products, other commercial meat products and possibly dairy products. Buy food that are antibiotic free - believe me it works to avoid allergens.
Avatar n tn He had his first strep throat at 8 months. He has had tubes in his ears twice. He is on antibiotics several times each year. He is on his 4th antibiotic in the last 9 weeks (they just aren't working). He had his tonsils removed two years ago and still gets strep two or three times a year. We have gone to an allergist - he has no real allergies to speak of, only a mild dust allergy. We have taken care of that by removing carpets, hypoallergenic bedding, etc.
Avatar f tn Same here.
Avatar n tn I was going to suggest hat you take it with milk but you cannot take it with milk or other dairy products, unless your doctor has told you to. Dairy products can make it harder for your body to absorb the medicine. According to the literature a select few brands of doxycycline may not have restrictions about taking them with dairy products. Any way I would be sure and take the meds with your meals as this should help ease the tummy upset.
1361799 tn?1277667591 t agree more with Swampys personal take. He gave you excellent advice. I suppose my personal take on any dairy products would to not even get kitty started on it, that way there's no begging for it, but a few licks of ice cream certainly won't hurt. We grilled fresh halibut a few nights ago and my husband made Jade a little piece of her own without any seasoning. Staci, unless you're talking about rarely, if it were me, I wouldn't give my cat bacon just because bacon is..
541609 tn?1273879848 I never heard to cut out low fat dairy either. In fact, it's recommended to eat all dairy, except what Amanda said, nothing unpasturized (blue cheese, brie, soft cheeses, certain lunch meats, etc). If you are lactose intolerant, that's another story. Your OB/GYNs should provide you with a list of unsafe foods to avoid during pregnancy. Happy pregnancy!
Avatar m tn I know there are things you can do that can lessen the reoccurence of them(brush your teeth 2-3x/day, use a tongue scraper after brushing your teeth, gargle with saltwater or mouthwash, drink lots of water, avoid sugary drinks, limit dairy products in your diet, cut out smoking, limit alcoholic drinks, avoid eating 30 minutes before bed).
Avatar n tn For those of you that cannot even come into contact with dairy products-- I learned that white school glue, such as Elmers, is made from the milk protein casein. There should be some sort of law that companies cannot make products with the top allergens.
Avatar f tn Since my return, I have been having very foul-smelling flatulence, and I have linked this to the consumption of dairy products, milk in particular. I am concerned because I never had such issues in the past, and have even done an elimination diet a few years ago to check for potential food allergies with no serious offenders found.
Avatar m tn to see my doctor I have disontinued to drink anything other than water. I have also cut back in sugar and have quit eating or drinking dairy products. These few step I have taken have helped out a bit. The pains in my lower gut dont happen as much. I still hope to get some test done. So when they are done I shall post the results.
684508 tn?1234917191 t use dairy products such as yogurt to get your probiotics either, because they are pasteurized products and don't have the right amount of probiotics for the gut. You need to go to a health food store or a supplement store and ask about probiotics. Be mindful of which ones you get, though, because some actually have pathogenic bacteria, which you don't want at all. A good brand to get is Jarrow. I've only seen one probiotic that this company makes.
Avatar n tn i found that sipping milk slowly eases sudden ulcer pain, however dairy products can cause acid build up in the long run, so do take prescribed medicines.
Avatar m tn I had a similar experience and discovered that antibiotics in meat and dairy products could trigger this reaction in me. Your symptoms sound like a fixed drug reaction. If you keep exposing yourself to these drugs in the foods you eat you may continue to have these problems. I disagree with Dr. Rockoff's advice or at least feel it left out the most important information. I now avoid foods that may contain penicillin and for six years have been free of these reactions.
789540 tn?1236716858 Anyway he decided last week to cut out all dairy products from his diet and only drink soy or rice milk products - the change has been dramatic and almost instant - he still clears his throat but about 80% less than he used to. Give it a try for a week or two you never know.
Avatar m tn I will not be eating any more bread or anything with gluten. Also, did you know that milk and dairy products increase phlegm? They do. I stopped milk about 6 months ago, which also helped me get off the Advair. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn “Take the medicine 2-3 hours before or after taking in any dairy products.” If you adhere to these instructions then you can drink milk, eat yogurt, ice cream, etc. Absolutely do not take Doxycycline with milk because the medication may not work as well. The only other instruction that is a must to know is take Doxycycline at least one hour before or two hours after a meal. I’m an RN so you can trust what I’m telling you.
Avatar m tn It says on my packet not to have any dairy products for 2 hours after taking the medication. I looked it up and dairy products inhibit the workings of the thyroxine medication. have others been told this?
