I am a believer of treating them as soon as they are an infection ... that is my mom opinion raising 4 kids oldest is 17. I don't buy into waitng and seeing .. not with the history of my kids (asthma, bronchitis, et al) and GW's history ... with these kids they probably also suffer seasonal allergies and their mucous membranes are being challeneged already .... the antibiotic for a true infection can only help in the risk vs beneft dept.

This year I developed bronchitis in April and was sick for two months. After taking antibiotics, allergy meds and inhalers, I recovered. I continued on the allergy meds. A little over two months later the cough started up again. The doc put me back on Advair. I used it for two months and continued getting worse. I saw the doctor and he put me on Ventolin with my Advair and antibiotic. I saw him a week later worse and with thrush in my mouth and throat.
A really good case history with binocular workup may be (and probably is) just as good in diagnosing it. Did you get him from a family, a breeder or pet store? If a family or breeder I would contact them to see if there is a history of seizures or disorder with either parents or any problems with puppies from the same litter. Have you taken him to the vet? If not I would make it a priority.

I am just being curious here but has any one in recorded history ever gotten HIV from "fingering" or a handjob. It just seems that a lot of us have been exposed to this level. Around the hand most people have little scrapes or loose skin generally due to the norms of life either as part of what we do at work or through normal everyday household chores and thsu the concern for most of us. I feel educated and all that I am just looking for a parent that is dealing with this too. Its hard and stressful. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
A week ago, I got off a course of antibiotics (Augment) that I took for 14 days. It bothered me the entire time I took it. I gradually had bloating, distention of the stomach and tingling, numbness and a 'cold' sensation started later on. my daughter is 16. she has been on norocin antibiotics for two and a half weeks, starting four to five days approximately after the end of her last menstruation, because of a urinary system infection. a few days ago she thought her mensturation started. but she only had a few drops of blood and then nothing.
