Common Questions and Answers about Antibiotics given for uti

antibiotics

Avatar f tn I was given a prescription for Norfloxacin to treat a UTI, diagnosed as cystitis. Based on information I've read online, this looks like a strong and potentially dangerous antibiotic to take for what I understand to be a common UTI. I am not completely comfortable with the circumstances in which I was given this antibiotic, which may be contributing to my doubts. Is this a reasonable antibiotic for me to take?
Avatar n tn I haven't used coconut oil for a uti but its great for its antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal properties. Same with olive leaf extract.
Avatar f tn Yes, my Dr gave me antibiotics for uti...I have had 2 so far during my pregnancy...yuck!
Avatar m tn When I had a UTI i wanted like some heavy antibiotics to get rid of that ****. I would definitely suggest seeing a regular doctor and getting antibiotics. You will feel 100X better also drink a lot of fluids, a lot people suggest cranberry juice which is good, but regular old water helps to dilute your urine better.
4811762 tn?1359942725 I was given antibiotics for my uti and a vaginal cream to prevent a yeast infection from the pills. My baby girls perfectly healthy.
2020005 tn?1628125976 I took that same antibiotics for a UTI when preggers with my first baby!! She's is perfectly healthy!!!!!
Avatar n tn On Friday I was having sharp intermittent aching pain in my right back where my kidney was located. My back in that area was tender to the touch. That evening I went to an urgent care facility and gave a urine sample. The doctor said the sample was too diluted and asked me to bring another sample in the next morning. Saturday morning (at home) I urinated into a cup that was given to me and then three hours later took the sample to the facility.
518733 tn?1333017015 t want any water infections ( I am assuming you are referring to bladder or UTI) to go untreated when you are pregnant. I have heard of many women getting antibiotics for a bladder infection and some women were even able to take some for a really bad sinus infection. Try not to stress too much - your doc knows your pregnant right??
Avatar f tn Yyyeeeessss it ***** I thinks other then the cucu bone pain thats one of the worst things in my pregnancy for me I have had about 4 bladder infections so far im 34+4weeks and of course you have to take thr antibiotics and that gives you a uti it ***** soooo bad I ended up this last time just asking for a pill to get rid of my yeast infection instead of taking the monistat 7 because it would burn so bad where I was running to the bathroom everytime
Avatar n tn I was treated for my first UTI about two weeks ago. I finished all the antibiotics and made sure to drink a lot of water and cranberry juice to keep it from coming back. 3 days ago I began to feel my UTI coming back. Why would this happen?
Avatar f tn Any know what we can possibly take for UTI since antibiotics r out of question?
Avatar f tn Definitely take the antibiotics. Uti is something that needs antibiotics to cure and if it goes untreated then can develop into a kidney problem which in some cases can cause early labour. Much safer to take the meds. I've been on the same antibiotics twice during this pregnancy and am now 36+ weeks and baby is perfectly healthy.
Avatar n tn m 40w4d pregnant and I was on an antibiotic for a UTI, aswell as pain killers for my UTI, AND monistat for a minor yeast infection a couple weeks ago. I'm sure if my baby is okay after ALL of that, so will hers if she IS pregnant. lol Have you thought about getting her on a form of birth control? There's a pregnancy forum called "Pregnancy 18-34" I strongly suggest bringing your problem into that forum because you will get MUCH more responses and helpful tips n what not.
Avatar f tn I recently got put on IV antibiotics for a pretty bad UTI. What my doctor did was to arrange for a pharmacy to deliver the meds to my house, and the pharmacy arranged for a home nurse to come by and administer it. It's not fun having that tube in your arm all week, but after the first day, I was able to administer my own treatments (and I'm normally terrified of needles and IVs).
Avatar n tn That is dumb and reckless on your doctors part. Let that uti turn into a kidney infection and send you into preterm labor and your doctor will be like o I should have given you antibiotics. I've never not gotten antibiotics for a uti. And no amount of water, cranberry juice or anything else was ever effective at getting rid of them.
Avatar f tn ( MAKE sure u take the antibiotics and drink sugar free cranberry juice
Avatar f tn Agreed with JanetJean. I was told I had a uti 2 weeks ago and was put on antibiotics for 7 days due to cloudy urine and now it's back to normal. Antibiotics was safe and no harm to my daughter. Get tested by your ob asap cause a uti can cause premature labor.
Avatar f tn Just research it . I was given a medicine for a uti also . It was safe . That was weeks and weeks ago and my son is healthy . If he / she gave it to you its most likely okay.
Avatar f tn m pregnant Is there anything I can do without meds ?for UTI and Sore Throat if not did anybody take MACROBID while pregnant ?
Avatar f tn Hey guys thanks heaps. I went to my gp tpday and she's certain its a UTI.
Avatar f tn After about seven visits to the doctor I asked for blood tests to be done which came back all clear for herpes Hiv and infections. A week after that I started getting a discharge from my penis. This persisted after visiting the gp and taking three different combinations of doxcyl and other antibiotics. About two weeks ago I went to see a urologist and had a prostate examinations and was told to give a urine sample. There was a milky white substance in the sample which the doctor showed me.
Avatar f tn I had it for five days to at the start and so far baby is growing perfect I am now 21weeks 3days
Avatar f tn I just finished macrobid on Sunday for my uti. It is safe for the baby.
645800 tn?1466860955 As I posted yesterday my new PCP gave me an Rx for an anti-biotic. The rx was for Sulfamethoxazole / Trimethoprim 800/160. I always check out drugs on the internet before taking any. So this morning after going to Walgreens to check it out my first thought was "IS SHE TRYING TO KILL ME"? The list of side effect and signs of allergic reaction almost match my normal state of health issues.
