Ive been slightly paranoid about it being herpes, I have slight redness in sme areas, but nothing resembling a herpes blisters, and I dont know if a outbreak could last this long without hardcore blisters. Maybe a false negative came up for gonoreah or chlamydia,maybe all the antibiotics Im on had affected some of the test the doctors did.
The antibiotics will not do anything to protect you.

I am thoroughly convinced now that I have herpes. I was denial for so long thinking maybe I had a rash or it was normal to sometimes have the head of my penis feel a bit raw. Today I feel similar to what many have described as the symptoms of their first infection it has never been this bad before and truthfully I am not stressed because I have felt these symptoms before just very mild almost not noticeable. I have an angry hot rash on my bottom hard to see any bumps though.
Now, when I was tested I was on 500mg Levo for my enlarged prostate. Is it possible for antibiotics to adversely affect a blood test for herpes? Seems to me like he's trying to scare me, which in fact he did; but if there is no cure for herpes then how would me being on levo for four days prior to the test have any effect on my results? Please any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
I have an appointment with the urologist in about two weeks. It will be 9 weeks after potential exposure. I will ask for a blood test to check for herpes type 1&2. Should I ask for a specific test? And is it worth to get tested after 9 weeks?
It's driving me crazy not to know :-(

I want to go get tested for either herpes or syphilis because while I know the incubation period is longer for syphilis, I did have unprotected sex with my ex-girlfriend several weeks prior.
With that background information, could you help me understand if being on this antibiotic during a test tomorrow would mess with the blood test for either of these STDs?
You'd have to have a risk and test positive for these or any std's to be prescribed medication and your doctor would easily be able to do that. Syphilis is treated with antibiotics with penicillin often given. Herpes does not go away although people with herpes take medication to end an outbreak and often to suppress future outbreaks. These are antiviral medications like Acyclovir. But from your previous posts, you were told you didn't have a risk.
It's not something that commonly happens and certainly not for this long period of time.
Had unprotected (hetero) sex 30 days ago with an ex-girlfriend. Positive IgG 1 (2.59) two weeks ago, no lesions at that time. IgG 2 neg. Neg. IgM seven days ago. Red, pruritic, rash around rectum extending outwards maybe an inch with two small raised bumps appeared today. I have been on antibiotics for 3 weeks for another problem. My questions are the following:
1) Isn't 30 days a bit far out for symptoms to begin.

All negative, except for herpes 1, which I think I got it while I was a kid, but I never had an outbreak. He gave me massive dosage of antibiotics which were not help ful: one ulcer were gone, another 2 appeared.
I changed my doctor and went to a dermatologist. Since I took antibiotics and did not resolve, probably is not bacteria.
you need to wait at least 3 months after the encounter you are concerned about to test for hepatitis, hiv and herpes. antibiotics will not affect them at all.
you should wait and have the rest of your std testing done in another month to err on the side of caution.
One note. you really should not take herpes medication if you dont have herpes. Taking it now will not prevent acquiring it, will only help sore to heal and limit the number of outbreaks a person have.
Hi, antibiotics have no effect on virues including herpes so would no interfer with any test results.

the only pain I felt was from my anus.The doctor looked at it for less than a minute and said I had herpes as well as a UTI. (Two swollen glands & a small single red bump on my butt cheek. a good distance from the anus opening.)
The day after being on medication which includes : acyclovir, Nitrofur,and pain meds. I was finally able to go poop (with bearable pain) and after I was able to use the restroom, All my anus issue were gone.
The only odd symptom I felt was some tingling and itching in the anus/prostate area, which I found a little disconcerting, but not enough for me to think it was concern me too much. I went to my doctor and got antibiotics for UTI and while it did help tremendously, it didn't seem to cure it completely.
Thank you for the quick reply. Going through these forums I find that it is highly unlikely for me to contract chlamydia , but syphilis, gonorrhea and herpes is a possibility. How common is herpes transmission from oral to genital ?.

Wow, but then I definitely transmitted it to my boyfriend... We had intimate contact right after my cold sore cured. The cold sore itself was already gone, but I still had that dizziness.
Also, as for the eyes, is an eye doctor supposed to know about this things? Here where I live, they seem to know so little about it...
I highly doubt that you would test positive for herpes because you've had chicken pox, cause then literally everyone would be positive for herpes. I've had chicken pox and never tested positive, and I agree with the other posts you should Def tell the babies dad.

I have been diagnosed with Ureoplasma. I am negadive for Herpes, Clamydia etc.
I did this test due to having UTI symptoms with negative culture and pain in Urethra.I also had a Cycstoscopy tha came back negative,
The problem is that despite the UTI symptoms I have a very weird Sharp pain and the skin isvery red and very sensitive to touch... The culture came back negative for yeast (I only found some Gram (+)) but still redness is there....
no. herpes is a virus. gent is an antibiotic. antibiotics don't help with viral infections.
Because you took antibiotics and it helped you, this is a sure sign that it's NOT herpes. Antibiotics does not treat Herpes because Herpes is not a bacteria it is a virus. Whatever you have is some sort of bacteria. NOT herpes. This is my opinion of course, but this is the direction I would go.
you don't have to test for herpes from this. if you had contracted it, you would've had very obvious symptoms within 2-20 days post encounter.
discuss with your provider if it's worth testing for syphilis or not based on the incidence of it in your area.
