20803805 tn?1514310660 HI my name is paul am 29yrs. i have been having diarrhea for the last two months. am not feeling any stomach ache or bloating. the only other symptom is that when i walk for a short distance i start feeling as if am loosing balance and some diziness. i first went to a pharmacy and bought some antibiotics levofloxacin being one of them it didnt stop.
Avatar m tn Interesting since Nexium is for acid reflux not diarrhea. I wonder if you have irritable bowel disease? That is way too much diarrhea for that. Something is missing. I have to ask and don't get too worried. Since you were tested for STD's were you tested for HIV? If so were you negative? That is why I asked about testing for cryptosporidium because it can cause bad diarrhea like that. Just asking. If you were negative then you should move on to see a GI doc.
Avatar m tn Drink plenty of water to prevent any dehydration, take some oral rehydration solution and consult a doctor/physician as antimotility agents to control diarrhea and a course of antibiotics is needed. Since diarrhea is associated with fever, so the cause seems bacterial for which antibiotics may be needed. Hope it helps. Take care and do keep me posted on how you are doing. Warm regards.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics can cause diarrhea, but it sounds more like you may have a bug since you may have a fever. I would call your doctor about this and go from there. For now, keep a little vaseline on your bottom to ease the burning and drink lots of water and low sugar Gatorade to replenish your potassium and electrolytes lost with diarrhea. I hope this helps and wish you all the best.
Avatar n tn my doctor prescribed me bacterial antibiotics because he thought i had a sinus infection but it turned out i did not, anyways for the last 2 weeks i been having diarrhea, loose stools, is that from the antibiotics. oh yea i have been off the antibiotics for about 2 weeks now, is it just some viral infection lingering around from the antibiotics?
Avatar f tn Its really getting me down now,ive had diarrhea for 5 months. On one occassion i did stool myself very badly while out shopping and now i have to use the toilet between 5-10 per day (that cant be good).I do avoid going out if i can help it. I went to my G.P last month and he gave me a months course of fybogel,(but did not work)and now he as doubled the dose to twice daily. I have not changed my life style or eating in any way. Could i have a prolapsed bowel?
Avatar f tn For as long as I can remember (I'm 33), I have had very soft stools (not diarrhea), up to three or four times per day which an urgency that rarely allows more than 30 minutes to find a toilet. I recently took a regiment of Amoxycillin 850 for chronic sinusitis. The sinusitis has, as a result, been eliminated. An additional benefit was a noticable change in motility.
Avatar m tn So if u can rule out bacteria cause u either antibiotics for this problem or the problem existed before u took antibiotics for something else it could be yeast. Candida is yeast. I'd I think of anything else ill let u know. Just if u do some cleanses it can't hurt. Colon cleans, liver cleans, etc.
Avatar m tn I am an 18 year old male and I have had diarrhea for about 3 months now. I don't have any pain in my stomach and I am not dehydrated, I drink plenty of liquids throughout the day. The diarrhea alternates between once a day and a couple of days off then 3 times a day. I have been to the doctor and we have had blood test, urine samples, and stool samples and we haven't found anything wrong yet. He told me to take citracel and eat different types of foods but I'm still having diarrhea.
Avatar f tn i have been having diarrhea for 24hrs also i have been having contractions i feel perfectly fine besides that.. has anyone experienced this?
Avatar m tn On July 24 I had a mild fever that lasted for 3 days but almost after it went away, I had diarrhea. Diarrhea was watery (almost all water) and persistent. I went to the hospital and found that cbc and stool exam were all normal. The doctor said it was just acute gastro-enteritis. But during this time I was already experiencing anxiety towards having HIV. All I could think about was my hiv-scare. Several days later, my appetite went back but my digestion is very erratic.
Avatar n tn About three weeks or so after, I got extremely ill. I was very sick for a day or so (like bed ridden sick) and then had horrible diarrhea for a few weeks. I thought I had C dif! But began to then think it was the antibiotics I was on for the tooth just doing the gut flora wipe out. I started doing prebiotic things. I ate sauerkraut, pickles and drank kabocha tea. And then I took a good probiotic.
Avatar m tn hmm have you been on antibiotics in the last few months? What did they test for with stool samples? There is a parasites test, and infectious organism test and c diff test. This would be 3 stool samples in different containers. Did you do 3? I am wondering if they suspect c diff since they gave generic flagyl which is used to treat that. But if C diff you would not want to take immodium because that will keep the toxin in you longer or infection if you have an infection.
Avatar m tn You have to take certain types of antibiotics for parasites (anti-parasitic antibioitics). Some antibiotics that work on bacteria also work on parasites such as metronidazole. Some parasites can get into the brain or eyes. If it is from raw meat it may have been a tapeworm. A parasitic infection does make your Eosinophil count go up as well. If the antibiotic worked on the parasite as well then yes it would make the lymph nodes go down as the infection was being treated properly.
Avatar f tn in this time and have tried Gas-X, Rolaids, Gaviscon for the gas issues, but havent tried anything for the diarrhea. I am drinking plenty so not feeling dehydrated. But there is nothing that I can eat that doesnt turn my stomach upside down and make me cramp really bad. Please tell me what you would suggest.
Avatar m tn stayed 3 days and they did cat scan(radiation) and had me on flagyl and cipro very strong broad spectrum drugs. ever since then i have occasional gut discomfort and diarrhea. lately i seem to have symptoms more often. i went to a gastroenterologist and he suggest limitiing alcohol consumption.. i stopped drinking my beer and drank tons of milk hoping to soothe my stomach..now im worse than ever, bloating, gas, bubbling , diarrhea, stomach pain.
Avatar f tn I am 30 years old. I've had diarrhea for nearly 3 months now and doctors can find what's wrong besides a ct scan that showed inflammation. I've been taken antibiotics but they don't seem to work and my appetite is pretty much vacant. Over the past month or so I have lost 30lbs and counting. I was 170 lbs and now I am under 140. Due to the antibiotics I am nauseated. I've tried Zofran and Phenergan for the nausea and none of it helps. I feel like it's getting worse.
Avatar f tn He was put on antibiotics for 3 weeks and since then has has a lot of GI issues. It started as just diarrhea and his food was changed. Diarrhea continued and he was started on probiotics. Same thing only now he has bloody diarrhea with a really foul smell. Could this be C-Diff from the the medication? What would the treatment require? Thank you for any help you can give me.
Avatar f tn It could be C Diff. It is tested for in a stool sample. The treatment for C Diff is taking antibiotics, so you would need to see a doctor about this.
Avatar m tn I was orginally diognosed with viral gastro at the same time as having a yeast infection and a cold/flu bug. Was given antibiotics and felt better for about 2 weeks. Then I had sudden severe vomitting, stomach pain and diarrhea back. Ended up in hospital as I couldn't eat or drink and the did a scan on my tummy which came up negative.
1418362 tn?1282203044 Can penicillin based antibiotics (Amoxicillain) worsen a sinus infection caused by allergies toPpennicilium, Cladasporium and Asperilligus molds? I am allergic to several molds, and have recently been prescribed Amoxicillin for a sinus infection caused by allergies. The mucus has cleared up from green to white, but my allergy symptoms are also worse and I am having severe diarhea which has left me weak, faint and exhausted.
Avatar f tn Treatment is with antibiotics. If you do not treat it diarrhea may last for weeks and even after healing some parasites may stay in your bowel...
Avatar n tn I am asking because myself i took clyndamicine for 1 week and was on ssevere diarhhea for 3 weeks, taking probiotics stopped the diarrhea but there are two months that i have stomach pains, and abdominal pains and alot of sounds in the abdomen like the abdomen is cold. did you have abdomen spasms, bloating, sounds and stomach pains or only diarrhea?
Avatar m tn Will taking 250mg of antibiotics 4x a day for 10 days cause yellow diarrhea?
Avatar m tn Having diarrhea after antibiotics is not rare, but also not normal. I recommend you to have stool test for C-diff and for occult blood. Having problems with breathing is probably from the acid coming up into your throat and then down into lungs. You should fix this promptly, it may damage your lungs (aspiration pneumonia, with lung scars). There's another possibility - alergy to one of antibiotics. Would you say you have any lips or face swelling or skin itching?
